Like everyone else, our office TV was locked on the news channels all day yesterday following the tragedy at Virginia Tech. There’s nothing we can say that hasn’t been said a million times already; the fact that there were more than twice the number of fatalities as there were in the Columbine H.S. shooting is still hard to fathom alone. … The Knicks had a moment of silence before last night’s game — their home finale against the Nets. Vince Carter had 29 points, 12 boards and 10 dimes, his second triple-double of the season. Not that impressive when you consider Jason Kidd has 12 of them this year, but Vince is trying. Kidd had 11 points, 8 boards and 6 assists … Tyra Banks, Kimora Lee Simmons and Beyonce (with Jay-Z) were all at the game. How rare is that, for three of arguably the 10 baddest women on the planet to be in the same place at the same time? … We’ve talked about how the Toronto crowd will be all over Vince if he ends up playing the Raptors in the first round, but there’s a school of thought that says Jerseys wants to grab that No. 6 seed and play Toronto, since the Raps don’t have much playoff experience as opposed to potential two-seeds Chicago and Cleveland. And no, Rasho Nesterovic’s postseason experience doesn’t really count for a lot here … Bad, bad news for the Heat: losing to the Celtics was one thing, but Miami also lost James Posey to an injured wrist and shoulder after he ran into Delonte West. No word on how long Posey could be out, but this is a team that cannot afford any injuries right now. They’re already hanging on by a thread trying to defend their title … Al Jefferson won the game with a hook shot with 0.1 seconds left. What’s the over/under on the percentage of Boston fans who wanted him to miss? … T-Mac served the Suns the hot plate, giving them 39 points on an array of fadeaways, deep jumpers and floaters. On those nights when he has it cookin’, can anyone stop Mac? “This is one of the greatest accomplishments of my career personally,” McGrady said afterwards. The win did give Houston home-court in the first round, and T-Mac has never made it past the first round, so we can’t sit here and doubt him … During Nuggets/Wolves, Linas Kleiza got off the bench to check in, and the Denver announcers said Kleiza’s fans were “going wild.” We thought they were joking, until the cameras cut to a section of the crowd that was waving a huge Lithuanian flag and holding signs for Linas. About a minute later, when Linas (23 pts, 10 rebs) dunked on Ricky Davis, the girls in his section were passing out kisses … And right behind Kleiza’s section was a section of fans for DerMarr Johnson. You couldn’t read their huge sign due to Linas’ peeps being in the way, but it looked like it said “Slim’s Slammers.” … The Grizzlies upset the Spurs! And they racked up 101 points on ‘em! Oh wait, San Antonio gave Tim Duncan, Manu and Tony Parker the day off. And this might be changed by the time you read this, but Brent Barry didn’t play due to a “Tummy Ache.” … Shelden Williams put up 16 points and 17 boards on the Bucks. Yeah, still not feeling Atlanta drafting him over Brandon Roy and Randy Foye … We’re out like Posey …

    Props to TMac… really brought the house down… even overshadowed Yao’s performance…

    Although, I’m not quite sure putting KOBE in on this one… I mean, leave the guy alone! stop hating! Besides TMac doesn’t get enough attention anymore to be hated on…

    Lets see? Kobe attempts 25 shots, scores 50… TMac attempts 31 shots and makes 39…

    TMac dishes out 9 dimes… while Kobe only had 3 dimes…
    Yet Tmac’s supporting cast takes 62 shots, and Kobe’s supporting cast takes 57 shots… Big Difference!!!! Kobe really was a BALL HOG!!!! —> sarcasm if you’re too naive…

    Oh, btw, included in TMac’s “suuporting cast” is YAO MING with 34 points and 9 boards versus lamar’s 14 and 5…

    Kobe led his team in scoring and boards, Odom lead in assists with 5…

    You’re probably right it takes 5…

    YAO 34 pts. 9 boards, Howard with 9 boards, Alston with 9 assists… after this stellar performance of the rest of the Rockets you call TMac MVP????? And hate on KOBE????

    Switch KOBE with TMac, and KOBE and YAO would have secured at least the 3rd seed in the west…

    Again, props on TMac, not taking anything from the guy… But stop hating KOBE….

    I’m out like TMac’s “almost” triple double…

    The “Slim’s Slammers” sign you saw at the Nuggets game wasn’t brought by the fans. It’s one of the many signs placed there by the Nuggets at the top of the Pepsi Center. Another sign is “JR’s Juniors”.

    I love how the kid on kobes nuts points out his % when he normally doesn’t shoot that high. and on top of that you say kobes teammates dont take many shots? hmm maybe its cuz kobe is tryin to go for 80 a night? how many times is it like a 3 on 1 fast break and kobe take it himself..at this people hes lucky the guys even run down court when he has the ball. Then you say tmac has yao..hmm i remember him doin pretty dcent when yao was hurt. and on top of that kobe had his chance to play the dynamic duo and he couldnt handle bein robin to shaq so he threw it all away. So yea, that would put him in the ball hog area. Guys like tmac and iverson go for 30 points and 10 assists when they want meanwhile kobe goes for 50 points, no assists and loses. Any great player can go for points if they wanted. EVERYone from jordan to benard king to wade to strictly a shooter like mike redd. Only difference is, most of them knew they werent gonna do jack unless they got their team involved. Your tellin me jordan couldnt have put 50 up each night if he felt like it? And even the times he did, he did it in the flow of the game. Kobe has to make the game completely revolve around him when hes doin it so everyone else stands around. forget draftin a pg, they lakers just need to draft a bunch of stiff bigs to rebound for kobe cuz thats all the team really gets to do.

    i remember a few years ago, when T-mac was still with Orlando before he started whining about not winning, and before Kobe started whining about Shaq being the boss of LA. T-mac couldnt wait for Dwight Howard to come, so he wanted out. Kobe wanted it all to himself. Yes, they’re my favorite players but it’s crazy what it could’ve been had Kobe been more lenient and had T-mac been more patient.

    Those were in my opinion the best years in basketball. The debate was all about T-mac and Kobe being the best. LeBron was coming up and Melo just won the NCAA ‘chip, and we were all talkin about who was gunna be the best rookie. Now i have to wake up every morning and deal with this Nash/Nowitzki bullcrap, who are less athletic, less talented players. its sad what the NBA has come down to: mediocre players who have supporting casts being given ALL the credit. I was about to call Shawn Marion a whiner too until i realized no one on the Suns gets the credit for winning. Nope, its all Nash.

    Meanwhile, in the better side of the league, the guys that are torching up the other teams so that they’re squads can survive are being ignored, called selfish, and criticized on their every move. It’s almost pointless to keep up with the league, yet i do. I wanna thanks dime for the issue they did on T-mac earlier in the season. You guys called it when you predicted he’d be back. Too bad his spot as one of basketball’s elite has been given to those who are LEAST deserving. peace.

    you should really think about the facts… Kobe whinned when shaq was too egotistic and too stubborn to admit he’s out of shape and too lazy…

    Kobe did try to get his teammates involved? remember Game 7 of last years 1st round versus pheonix? he was criticized then… This year he still tried, and they lost seven straight… he still gets alot of hate…

    And tell me honestly, you would rather Lamar and Smush jack up 25 shots apiece rather than Kobe jacking up 50?

    And I did not say Kobe’s team mates did not take too many shots… I was pointing out that TMac’s mates and Kobe’s mates took almost the same number of shots… 62 and 57…

    nuff said…

    NBA fines Duncan for verbally abusing Joy Crawford… Then Joey gets suspended indefinitely for ejecting TD because he laughed at Joey…

    Stupid Stern… is he saying that both of them are wrong??? I mean if joey was right then he shouldn’t be suspended and TD should be fined… If TD was right then TD should not be fined and joey suspended… But not both of them can’t be wrong???

    IMHO David Stern should be suspended indefinitely… Maybe Mark Cuban’s claims are true…

    Tmac should not even be considered for an MVP the guy has no heart , plays no defense and all he does is shoot. Kobe is the best in the game the guy has a bunch of scrubs on his team makes and still it to the playoffs. If you put Tmac on the Lakers i guarantee they will be a lottery team (the guy has no heart). On the other hand you put Kobe on the Rockets they would be chalanging the Mavericks. Dont you BOZOS get it for Lakers to win Kobe has to shoot. Kobe>tmac any day u clowns.
