Lottery Night For Celtics Fans

Last night, one of our friends threw an NBA Draft Lottery party up in Boston. The Celtics fans in attendance were in a festive mood, with some party-goers having even made their own custom Greg Oden and Kevin Durant T-Shirts. Click “more” to see how the party devolved after the Celtics got the fifth overall pick in the draft.

This is priceless, they should have a picture of all the Celtics fans faces when the Bucks got the 6th pick.

    2003:
    Dwayne Wade - 5th Pick
    Darko Millicic - 2nd Pick

    1996:
*Since M. Camby (2nd pick) is not as bad as Darko and Sam, just look at the 5th picks plus: baby Face assassin, Antoine Walker?, KB24, Steve Nash, Peja, JO, heck Big Ben was not even drafted… ;D

    1984:
    Charles Barkley - 5th Pick
    Sam Bowie - 2nd Pick

it’s not really that bad. If Celtics are truly doing a good job bringing along their young guys. Al Jefferson, Perkins, Rondo, Green, and Ray then they shouldn’t be acting like all is lost. The real loser mentality is that they were so stuck on needing this pick. They get a Joakim, B. Wright, or even possibly JianLian with developing their you group with Pierce, Gomes, Wally, is Ratlif ever going to be healthy again? Boston should be alright.

They have more talent then most teams in the east. If they can’t develop that talent and better manage their organization, then they shouldn’t worry about getting a top 3 pick and screwing up a future superstar. Sixers are worst of then Boston, so no sympathy. Boston should be a playoff team next year, but that’s assuming they know what to do with the talent they have…

David Stern sucks. The Lottery is a joke. I am done with the NBA.

I agree with kudabeen’s assertion that there is talent on the roster. Most of the problem has to do with the stupid in-game coaching decisions, and apparent total lack of a play book.

But we were really hoping that a franchise player like Durant or Oden, would soothe the painful weight of a self-destructive season like the one we just watched.

Those of us with NESN over here in Boston won’t even get to watch these two rookies over on the West coast. As if their conference really needed another couple superstars. At least we know that the lottery isn’t rigged to spread the market around to cities with a lot of commercial potential.
