Following that Game 3 disaster, the Bulls actually held onto a lead yesterday, keeping the Pistons away and avoiding the sweep. When Chicago was up by 9 with about four minutes left, did you think they were safe? We didn’t. We were waiting for a couple ‘Sheed threes or Chauncey jumpers, and next thing you know, the Pistons are breaking out the brooms. Never happened, though … One of the turning points was Kirk Hinrich drawing a charge on Chauncey that stole any momentum the Pistons were building. Good job by Kirk (19 pts, 10 asts) to step in there and forget about earlier in the game when Flip Murray gave him a nasty Lipton Special. We had no idea Flip could get up like that, but he pulled off almost a little man’s version of LeBron/Duncan … Luol Deng put up 25 points and 13 boards, Ben Wallace pulled down 17 boards, and Billups led Detroit with 23 points and 8 dimes … The Warriors can be beaten at home. They can even get pieced, as Utah showed yesterday in taking a 3-1 series lead and winning by 14 in the Bay … We know Al Harrington doesn’t spend a lot of time in the paint, but his rebounding numbers have bordered on embarrassing sometimes this postseason. Three boards yesterday? And only one of those was a defensive board. Andris Biedrins had 10 boards, but Al needs to step it up, otherwise the Warriors are getting sent home in Game 5. Last night they got killed on the glass again, 52-36. Six guys on the Jazz had more boards than Harrington — including Matt Harpring and Deron Williams … Carlos Boozer had his way inside, going for 34 points and 12 boards. All five Jazz starters were on offensively: Deron put up 20 points and 13 dimes and Derek Fisher scored 21 … Watch for some kind of confrontation involving Memo in the next game. After J-Rich got ejected for pulling a Raja Bell move on Memo with about 30 seconds left and the game all but over, Okur came back and stuck a three with 10 seconds left and Utah already up big … According to the New York Daily News, the Lakers have told Smush Parker they’re “going in a different direction” and won’t try to re-sign him this summer. The same paper says Smush could end up with the Clippers, who will need a PG seeing as Sam Cassell is up there in age and Shaun Livingston is out for at least a year, maybe more … CBS had a show on yesterday called “College Basketball’s Greatest Shooters.” Cass, the Dime crew’s designated sharpshooter, had issues with it. For one, Chris Mullin was ranked No. 7, behind Steve Alford. And J.J. Redick — maybe Cass’ favorite college player ever — was No. 3, behind No. 2 Pistol Pete and No. 1 Larry Bird.. Larry’s obviously one of the best players ever and a phenomenal shooter, but if you look at just pure shooting, it’s hard to say Redick isn’t No. 1. And by the way, Bird said during the show that Mullin was a better shooter than him. But the biggest snub: Curtis Staples. Didn’t even make the Top 10 … We’re out like Smush …

no mention of B-Diddy’s classless move? when utah was getting beat bad in game 3 they didn’t retaliate and try to hurt people, even during baron’s dunk when they were up by 20 already . . . seriously, GSW are thugs who like to showboat but they can’t take it when another team is beating them on their own court. classless. hope the bandwaggon realizes it too.

seriously, something going to happen to okur for hitting a three with the game all but decided? what about baron’s dunk with the warriors already being up 20? why didn’t you call him out? too busy being on your knees? great selectivity Dime.

Austin Burton says:
I don’t think it’s about which move (Baron or Memo) was more or less classless … it’s about which team (GS or Utah) is more likely to take offense and try to retaliate. With Stephen Jackson involved, like it says, look for some kind of GS retaliation.
As you saw in the Dallas series, GS tends to lose their heads at times and not think rationally/logically.

You watch the game last night? Didn’t sound like it from smack today.wasn’t a blowout. Close game the entire way accept for the last 2 minutes when we panicked and shot only threes when we should have gone to the basket. No mention of stephen jackson? He may have single handidly lost us the game. Every time he touched the ball he tried to do too much. That time he got stripped and lay on the ground with his hands behind his head? I hope mullin finds a new home for him in the offseason.

Indeed . . . Stephen Jackson killed the Warriors last night. He is a catch and shoot guy, not a one on one, Im gonna take people off of the dribble kinda guy but he just had to keep pounding the ball everytime he got it. Seriously, Matt harpring was consistently beating him to the spot and drawing offensive fouls. Jackson does not have much of a first step and last night it really showed . . . And Jazz fans, how can you compare Baron’s posterizing of AK-47 with gunning a three in the waning seconds? A dunk in traffic happens in the flow of the game, you gotta choose to bomb a three . . . By the way, i’ve never heard SO MUCH WHINING in all my life as i have been hearing from Jazz fans.

Not to kill my man Austin as well, but the game was much much much closer than the score. “Pieced?” It was a great game until about three minutes left. Stephen Jackson was a KILLLLLLER last night.
Little vaca with the girl and you miss key moments of hoop over the weekend? Too much shmoopie shmoopie?

the shooters show played a while back, last night was just a replay of it. And on top of that, you gotta realize, jazz fans are still some of the most bitter people alive. They still get tramatic flash backs from the beatings jordan used to give them, so expect TONS of whining. Like Bklyn said, all baron did was drive the lane and AK stepped in, its not like he was lookin to posterize someone ahead of time. Memo came down knowing “hey i’m gonna take a 3″ and speakin of memo, have you ever heard a 7 footer with a more drag queen voice? And how are people jumpin on jackson all of a sudden, hes been pretty clutch most of the playoffs and anyone who said he doesn’t ahve a first step doesn’t watch ball. Is he iverson? no but he still has a quick first step for someone about 6′7, if anything he just has a sloppy handle.

Yeah, Utah got blown out in Game 3, in Game 4 GW collapsed again in the 4th quarter. (I watched the entire game, thanks) But in both cases the leading team was maintaining or extending their lead at the end of the game. I’m sorry that Baron getting fouled by Kirilenko’s face is a foul. (look at the pics) Recognize that the Jazz didn’t go all J-Rich and make a hard foul that could have injured someone who has had injury trouble (Boom Dizzle). Btw, J-Rich did exactly what Jerry Sloan would have wanted from any of his players, so I’m not criticizing that at all. It’s a hard foul with a little something extra on it. It’s the playoffs. It’s not like a cheapshot on a guy who wasn’t looking who was off of the ball. (Fish)
Jazz aren’t sore losers though. Your team is.
And the three isn’t in the court of the game? Ever watch Okur in the regular season? He had more made threes than Dirk. That’s part of his game. And yes, GW is a weak team, and if they retaliate they will all be exposed even more as a bunch of poor loosers who are thugs.
Congrats on that, Dubs fans.

Blkyn,
It was a close game. But once is luck, twice is skill and 3 times is a pattern. In 3 close games the Jazz found a way to win and the Warriors found a way to choke.
By the token 3 times a thug (Al Harrington’s whack to the back of boozer’s head, Baron cheap shoulder/elbow to Fisher’s head, and Richardson’s takedown of Okur)labels the Warriors with no real toughness. I can understand being frustrated that you were losing on your home floor, but mental toughness means you channel that energy to the next game. Get it back where it matters on the scoreboard.
Btw I do have to admit Matt Barnes and Biedrins made several tough plays, they are just out manned.
If I was a Warrior’s fan I would be more concerned about the way Baron was walking then anything else.

It was tough to watch Baron throw that elbow at one of the class acts in the game in Fisher but Okur had to know that he was going to get clobbered in one of his rare forays to the hoop that late in the game. And hey, after living in SF for ten years, through the Todd Fuller/Vonteego Cummings debacles, I am still proud of the Warriors for making these playoffs reminiscent of years gone past (before those miserable Miami-Knicks days). And I will easily admit that the Jazz are a tough team with a lot of guys who I have enjoyed watching for years (Harpring, Boozer, Fish) and guys who I look forward to watching for a while to come (Deron and Milsap). Yet I feel like this series could easily be 2-2 or even 3-1 warriors if Nellie gives Adonal some burn to saddle Boozer and Milsap a little. All that said, it’s a beautiful NYC day—I’m out to find a run . . .

Showgun says:
Hey Amar Fu*k Memo and his bit*h ass, all Boom Dizzle waas doing, was proving that a guy his size can throw down on one of the leagues best shot blockers. AK47 had it coming anyway, it no way Baron was going to let him have that one. Beside their was a lot time in on the clock, not 10 seconds. If you had a chance to dunk on a guy that is considered to be one of the best shot blockers in league, forget that I mean the world, you take it. I can understand Baron holding back if their was 10 seconds left, but with 2:00 minutes left, come on now, that’s hardly an argument. Baron was giving an message at the moment, which never really transletted into the next game. However, Baron made history there, AK47 got caught and now his part of the one of the best dunks in Playoff history.

Jed, next time I beat you by 14 points in NBA 2K7, I won’t call it a piecing.

Showgun — Was Baron proving his dunking ability when he went the full kenyon after the jam (which was nasty) by showing the world his nipples in Hi-Def? That was put to his team up by 22 with like 2 minutes left. Memo was trying to score, because if you haven’t noticed, GS can score like 9 - 15 points in 40 seconds. Also there was 5 seconds on the clock, and 37 in the game, what should he do, get a 24 second count when GS is giving him lane? I’m sure the whoracle crowd loved Memo’s three all over their faces after the hard foul. I know you did.

The dunk or the 3, It all dosn’t matter, Warriors are going home, and the Jazz have a legit shot at winning the whole thing.

First off lets calm down…AK hasnt been a serious shot blocking threat since back in the day. Yea he can get help side blocks like marcus camby but hes not really pinning people so him stopin baron was unlikely specially comin from the weak side. And yea, the warriors MIGHT go home, but jazz having a legit shot at winning it all? someones been drinkin the special cough syrup again. U seriously think the jazz would beat the spirs or the suns or the pistons? not a chance

This has nothing to do with the fact that I am a GSW fan:
There is no way that the Jazz have a shot at winning the whole thing…
May 15th, 2007 at 1:08 am
Amar says:
Only way Jazz have a shot is if a lot of guys on other teams get injured. Sure, on the individual level they have a pretty good record vs. some teams out there (vs. Spurs tied 2-2, vs. Suns lead 3-1, vs. Pistons lead 2-0 (4-0 over two years), vs. Bulls lead 2-0, vs. Cavs tied 1-1) — but that’s not the same thing as playing in a playoffs series.
And this is from a serious Jazz homer: GS isn’t done yet, it’s first to 4 wins, we only have 3.
