This could very likely be the last day of the ‘06-07 season. Kinda snuck up on us, actually. It seems like not too long ago we were all exhausted in Vegas during All-Star Weekend; back when a Cavs-Spurs championship series wasn’t exactly the odds-on favorite … So do the Cavs have a chance tonight? We think they do — in fact, we’ll go ahead and predict a Cleveland win, with LeBron putting up about 25, 10 and 9. (Either that or Manu, Tim and Tony stick some daggers into a deflated Cleveland squad and call it a series.) … Larry Hughes said he might be able to play in Game 4, but he’ll need an injection to numb his foot if he’s even going to try. And he probably can’t come off the bench. “If I didn’t play (early in the game), I wouldn’t be effective,” Hughes said in the San Antonio Express-News … So what happens to Mike Brown after this series is a wrap? Go over to Dimemag.com and see what some of our writers are saying … Just in case tonight is the night the Spurs cop the trophy, the NBA will let you have a hand in deciding the Finals MVP. Check it out right here. And don’t try and be funny and vote for Anderson Varejao or James White … Mike James for Juwan Howard, straight-up. That’s the reported verbal agreement the Wolves and Rockets came to yesterday. Makes more sense for Minnesota than Houston. The end is definitely near for Juwan, but he did have a decent run last year right after Yao got injured, the Wolves could use another experienced big, and no one seemed to thrilled with James. The Rockets, though? The age-old “never trade big for small” adage applies. While some teams can get away with it (like Toronto trading Charlie V for T.J. Ford), the Rockets need more size, not less. They’re thin enough at the four spot as it is; now all they have is Chuck Hayes and Steve Novak. They did need some scoring, but there had to be better ways to go about it … Kobe had the top-selling NBA jersey this season (no, Hova didn’t completely kill the jersey game), taking over the No. 1 spot from D-Wade. People had to get those new No. 24s, right? LeBron had the third-highest seller, followed by A.I., Nash, ‘Melo, Steph, Dirk, Arenas and Vince in the Top 10. As far as team gear, the Lakers were No. 1, followed by Miami, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Boston, Phoenix, San Antonio and the Nets … The New York Post is saying both Kobe and Jermaine O’Neal wouldn’t mind getting traded to the Knicks. That info apparently came from anonymous sources, who may or may not be named “Wishful” and “Thinking” … And on the rampant Shawn Marion trade rumors, Mike D’Antoni told the East Valley Tribune, “I don’t think Shawn is going anywhere.” Don’t forget, though, you could have read the same thing about Iverson in the Philly papers last summer. Here’s hoping we don’t see Steve Kerr on national TV next year in the middle of a game saying “Shawn Marion has played his last game as a Sun.” … Remember how we told you about the Blazers’ website getting bombarded with hits the night of the Lottery? To capitalize on that, the team launched a micro site that it’s hoping will be “a one-stop shop on the World Wide Web for all things Oden and Durant.” The micro site, which you can find right here, has individual player pages for both Greg and KD, breaking news updates on anything Oden/Durant-related, a poll where fans can vote on who they want, and video clips of Oden and Durant’s individual workouts in Portland … Duke’s Josh McRoberts — a borderline Lottery pick — is officially in the draft after signing with an agent earlier this week. There’s no micro site for him as far as we know … Nevada PF/C Nick Fazekas, one of those production-under-potential guys who will get drafted later than he should, is putting himself right up there with Dirk and Mehmet Okur already. “I feel I can shoot almost as good as anyone in the NBA,” Fazkeas told HoopsHype, adding that, “Once I get in the NBA, I think I can be about the best shooting big there is.” Nick put up 20 points and 11 boards a night this year, hit 56 percent from the floor and 43 percent from three … If Patrick Ewing does land an assistant coaching gig next season, it’s probably not going to be with the Knicks like everyone had assumed. “The staff if pretty full right now,” Isiah told the Newark Star-Ledger … The whole Orlando Magic drama might be putting some dents in Billy Donovan’s G-O-D status in the state of Florida. The minor-league Fort Myers (Fla.) Miracle baseball team is holding “Billy Donovan Night” on June 20, where fans can negotiate their way out of their ticket purchase during the game … We’re out like the season …

Helloworld,
Haha, I was going to say the same exact thing. I like Dime, but they do that shit all the time. “Either LeBron goes for his usual stats, or Duncan, Manu and Parker do THEIR usual thing.”
Way to go out on a limb, guys.

Mike James for Juwan Howard is a good trade for both teams.
The Rockets (MY TEAM) get scoring, and with Adelman as their new coach, they’ll trade for Rashard Lewis. Now look at this lineup: James, T-Mac, Lewis, Yao. Now they go sign a PF

Ha, Ha, Fazekas sucks, just look at how he disappeared in March the past two years. Nevada’s best player in March the past two years was Marcelus Kemp. A more realistic comparison would be Keith VanHorn and I think that’s stretching it a little. Dirk and Memo? Fazekas is on drugs…

I saw Fazekas in person down on Bourbon street after one of his tourney games in New Orleans this year.
Dude looked at me kinda paranoid like I was an insane Creighton fan, about to charge him or something. I think he recognized me from the stands.
Anyway, I could see him being a Memo-type player. Will he be as good as Dirk? Hahahahah. No.

Fazekas will be a poor man’s Kevin Pittsnoggle (who I still think has a future on an NBA bench somewhere. People compare him to Raef, but if he’s not a lottery pick and not making $10M+, we’d look at Raef - when healthy - as a serviceable rotation guy) He’ll be okay in the right situation, but as good as Memo or Dirk? Dude drank too much absynth or something…

speaking of Pittsnoggle, I remember reading that Across the POnd feature on him that was SUPPOSED TO BE a weekly thing. I liked that. Whatever happened w/ that???
