Ticket to Where?

Everyone has something to say about what Kevin Garnett wants to do and where he wants to play, but only KG himself knows what’s really up, and he’s not talking. At least not to the media. New York Daily News columnist Mitch Lawrence quotes an anonymous T’Wolves player who apparently spoke to Ticket recently. “What got Kevin upset is that he thought he might be going to Phoenix, but then he heard about Boston and that really got him pissed off,” the unidentified teammate said … But it’s not like the Celtics fans are clamoring for KG anyway. A Boston Herald online poll asked readers whether they’d want to give up Al Jefferson and the No. 5 pick in a trade, and 90 percent said no … The Nike deal Greg Oden inked last week is said to be worth around $12 million. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant’s as-yet-unsigned sneaker company deal (he’s still deciding between adidas and Nike) is expected to hover around the $60 million range … We told you over the weekend about Joakim Noah being part of a pre-draft workout for the Suns this week, leading to speculation that Phoenix is definitely trading up into the Lottery. Now we hear Corey Brewer is going to be in that workout, too, and it’s rumored that if Phoenix can’t land KG in a trade, they’re looking at Brandan Wright with a Top 10 pick. They’ll probably have to trade up into the Top 5 to get him, though … Our man Cass came back from his honeymoon over the weekend and is still in mid-season form. One of his first e-mails after touching down addressed the South Florida Sun-Sentinel report that the Hawks may go after Luke Ridnour in a trade if they don’t get the PG they want in the Draft: “This is why the Hawks are the franchise most likely to suck forever. Do they not have League Pass in Atlanta?” And right now a Hawks fan is saying, “But Ridnour’s on Team USA! How bad can he be?” … The Denver Post said the Hawks are trying to put together a package to get Marcus Camby. Hey, at least they’re making attempts to get better … New York Daily News rumor: the Raptors want to sign Mickael Pietrus with their mid-level exception. If only he had a jumper … Props to DeSagana Diop for committing to play for the Mavs summer league team even though he doesn’t have to. According to the Dallas Morning News, Diop wants to step up his offensive game next season. Erick Dampier better watch out; it looks like Diop is after his PT. Warn the Aaron Grays and Saer Senes of the world, too … Brandon Jennings (best H.S. senior PG in the country) to the New York Daily News on the NBA age minimum: “I really don’t like it. As you see with Kevin Durant and Greg Oden, they were ready coming out of high school. The one year probably helped them, but still, even without that one year, they would have done their thing.” Have to agree with Young Money about Oden, but not so much Durant. KD wasn’t nearly as hyped coming out of high school as he is being hyped now. We saw Durant in person in his last high school game (Jordan Brand All-American Classic) and none of us came away from that saying he could’ve been the No. 2 pick in the ‘06 Draft if he were eligible … The most talked-about game in NYC this week grew legs at Rucker Park last week, when two of the top playground ballers in the city — Adrian “A-Butta” Walton (forever famous for dropping 35 on Vince Carter years ago) and Corey “Homicide” Williams (always right on the cusp of the League) — got into it during an EBC game. A-Butta challenged Homi to a 1-on-1, and Sunday was the scheduled showdown, with $10,000 on the line. Go over to the Bounce website and see what happened … We’re out like putting words in KG’s mouth …

Big fan of Marcus Camby. But, remember what happened the last time the Hawks traded for a shotblocker? Theo Ratliff’s corpse, that’s what. MC, please stay in Denver.

I agree… the hawks are going to suck forever…

Can you imagine giving max deal to Joe Johnson????

And passing up on CP3 and Deron…

They should trade all their players except for J-smoove Childress and williams… get an uptempo PG, any uptempo PG… maybe even Jterry…

and run like hell… run as if their lives depended on it… just forget about winning right now… at least give your fans something exciting to watch… besides if they have another losing season, what do they lose… at least their guns will be atop the highlight reels…

    peace… :D

  6. Dave says:

Kowtz, you are a freaking moron.

Joe was an all-star this past season you idiot. The 3rd best SG in the game behind Kobe and Dwyane Wade.

The Hawks aren’t even gonna get Luke Ridnour. We’re getting ACie Law. So Suck it.

lol jennings is a good baller but a dumb kid. sure it worked for oden and durant only down side, what about the 10 other freshmen who would of tried the jump and not even sniff the second round or pull a nudi ebi and get benched for 3 years and then be out the league? for every tmac and lebron theres 8 deangelo collins and travis outlaws.

  8. jeff says:

travis outlaw has stuck and played ok when he’s got the chance with portland. i’m sure jennings has been keeping up with telfair’s exploits, since he’s looking for a job this upcoming season.

  9. Austin Burton says:

Outlaw only plays well when the Blazers are up 20 or down 20, or at the end of the year when the games don’t matter.

  10. Bron42 says:

i kno, that was my point and ebi isnt even in the league anymore..people wanna point out lebron and amare and kg but ignore all the guys who fell through the cracks like lenny cook, leon smith, corleone, etc…one year of payed for college wont kill ya…well unless your shaun livingston

Please don’t hate the basketball fans in Atlanta. We actually do like basketball and we can’t help it if we had horrible GMs. In the 1985 draft, we drafted Koncak with number 5 pick over Chris Mullin, Detlef Schrempf, Karl Malone, Joe Dumars, A.C. Green, and Terry Porter. Then he proceeded to pay him more than Magic, Larry, and Michael in 1989. In the 1992 draft, Babcock picked Adam Keefe(from Stanford: hint don’t pick a pro baller from an Ivy League school) with the number 10 pick passing over Cheap Shot Rob, Doug Christie, Jon Barry, and Latrell Sprewell. In 1993, Babcock drafted the wrong guy from Florida State(Doug Edwards over Sam I Am).
In 1995, we drafted Alan Henderson over Michael Finley.
Are you noticing a pattern of drafting big guys? Only in 1999, did we draft Jason Terry but he is not a real point guard as the Mavs are finding out. You can’t win without a good point. Even Harper and Fish are better point guards than Terry which is why the Mavericks won’t win a championship. In 2001, we trade Gasol for Shareef Adbur-Raheem. No more big white guys since they were burned by John Koncak and Adam Keefe but then Babcock chooses nonathletic black guys like Shareef and Alan Henderson. In 2002, we trade with Sacramento for Dan Dickau, nonathletic white point guard, instead of Boozer.
So finally we have been in the Billy Knight GM era since 2004. Other than Chris Paul/Deron Williams he has not done as bad as his predecessors. Tell me how good your team would be if your team had made the same decisions prior to Billy Knight? Also Marvin Williams is not a bust yet; he has been hurt and he is young but he could be a good player. Also, from a marketing point of view, I understand why they went with Marvin Williams over Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Most PGs take time to develop so why not just get one off FA. They were hoping that Marvin could potentially be an athletic player All-Star type player to draw in the fans. I have seen him play and I see flashes but he is not consistent yet. Still he is not damaged goods like Kwame and Darko. Joe Johnson is great.
I really appreciate him coming to the Hawks and playing great. The guy is a great 2 and still young. I think
he can be a role model for the young guys we have on the
team. So the Hawks don’t have a good center or point guard? How many teams have a good young point guard or center? Utah and NO have good young points. Orlando has Dwight. Anyone else? I think the Hawks can get Chauncey if they overpay him a bit. Although Chauncey choked, how many other PGs are better than him? JJ is a better than Rip and I would take Josh Smith as he keeps improving his game and he is younger than Tay.
So that leaves Sheed and Chris who are over the hill.
Why wouldn’t Chauncey consider living in ATL which is a nicer city than Detroit with a younger team? Nash
went to the Suns from the Mavericks which was a more
successful team as well. Anyway, I am going to be
living in NY starting July 1st and I think the Hawks
certainly have a brighter future than the Knicks with
Isiah as the GM and looking at the roster not to mention
cap space. Anyway, I am not under any illusion the
Hawks are good yet but they can be good with a few more
moves. The Hawks have not been to the playoffs since 1999 and probably won’t make it in 2009. :( But I think
they have a decent position to improve especially with
the #3 pick and if they can get AC Law with the later pick.

I dunno which Mickael Pietrus you have been watching, but he does have a pretty good jumpshot. Hopefully my Raps can get him to Toronto and start giving him quality minutes

  13. .K.i.n.G. says:

i agree with D-Nice Mickael is nice all-around, he’s pretty gifted on the offensive end with ball handling, 3-point shooting, inside scoring, and his mid range is developing. Because of his athleticism he can disrupt other wingman on the defensive end and since he’s young there’s styll lots of time to improve. This would be a perfect pick up and b-colangelo is the man to do it. I juss hope he doesnt trade jose calderon which is the rumour right now (TOR wants to do a sign and trade with pietrus so they can use their mid-level exception on some one else)
