Damn. First Antoine Walker, now Eddy Curry. New York’s NBC affiliate reported that Eddy’s suburban Chicago home was broken into yesterday morning in a home-invasion robbery, during which Curry and some other people in the home were tied up. It sounds an awful lot like what happened to ‘Toine earlier this summer — which also happened in suburban Chi-town. You have to wonder if there’s a connection, but so far police are reportedly investigating the two incidents as separate. We haven’t got a lot of details yet, but let’s all just hope nobody was hurt … Smush Parker to the Palm Beach Post: “I don’t know where I fit in, but the Miami Heat said they could use me, and that’s where I’ll be.” Not sure where he fits in? Sounds like Smush pretty much saw the money on the table (reportedly around $2.5 million per) and grabbed it without thinking of things like PT and his role on the team. But that brings up the question: Is Smush good enough to take Jason Williams‘ starting spot? Before you say “Hell no” remember that dude has been the Lakers starting PG for the last two years and hasn’t been that bad, except for some times on the big stage. And he always seemed to be Phil Jackson’s favorite scapegoat for whatever reason … The Magic are said to be putting out feelers to Chris Webber and P.J. Brown. If we had to choose between those two, we’d take P.J. He’s more active on both ends of the floor, and we’d rather have his veteran leadership than the locker-room politics C-Webb is known for. Especially on a young team that’s on the verge of being very good … Greg Oden’s already sitting out this month’s Team USA training camp, and now it’s being reported he might skip next month’s camp due to tonsilitis. Seeing as he didn’t come through last summer (wrist), that might be a wrap for Oden if he was thinking of playing in the ‘08 Olympics. Jerry Colangelo made it clear that when Paul Pierce missed two straight summers that he was out for Beijing, so the same should be true for Oden … We know Al Jefferson and Andre Iguodala are in. Some other players invited to be on the “young guys” team that will scrimmage Team USA in preparation for the Olympic qualifying tourney are Devin Harris, Monta Ellis and David Lee … At the Pan Am Games, Team USA mopped the team from the Virgin Islands in a near 30-piecing. Indiana forward D.J. White, who you last saw giving UCLA all they could handle in the Big Dance, put up 22 points and 13 boards, while Washington State PG Derrick Low scored 14. Remember Carl Krauser from Pitt? He’s on the Virgin Islands squad and put up 5 points on 2-for-11 shooting … One of our boys who spends a lot of time in Europe on business sent us some crazy e-mails yesterday. The first one read: “Standing next to a wildly dancing Darko Milicic in a club in Belgrade right now.” About three hours later we get this one: “It was Milicic, Marko Jaric and most of the Serbian national team. The night got broken up when a fan of a local team fired 3 shots at a fan of an opposing team and hit him once in the hand, emptying the club at about 4:30 a.m.” Again, we hope the guy who got shot is OK and that no one else got hurt. But in other news, they get it crackin’ past 4:30 a.m. over there? Impressive … We’re out like Oden …

Seriously, Smush was that bad. He might be the worst team defender among starting guards in the league.

What about Luke Ridnour? If Seattle’s starting backcourt is gonna be Luke and Wally, they’re gonna give up 120 points a game.

Not sure why Oden is skipping out on next month’s USA Training Camp. Getting your tonsils out is a 2-3 week recovery. He’ll be over 4 weeks out. If he has any desire to play in ‘08, he could at least show his old face, run a few drills and not make the team. What a wuss.

Oden is fortunate he’s getting them done now. If he were to wait until he were older (25 or so), it’d be much worse. My friend is 29 and had them done two months ago. He was still in quite a bit of pain 4 weeks later.

These poor guys. It almost seems like a growing trend, unfortunately. Check my article about how this could all be prevented at www.clutch3.com
