Get Reggie Mode

IMAGE DESCRIPTION“Come to Boston NOW!”

Reggie Miller says he still hasn’t made his mind up about coming back and playing for the Celtics, but he’s working out twice a day just in case. Our gut says Reggie will be back. No one goes through voluntary two-a-days unless they’re serious about playing. And with that championship ring calling him (and KG saying in a radio interview that he’s in “Get Reggie mode”), Reggie will give it at least one more shot. Can an NBA player pull a Roger Clemens move and only play in home games? … Our guys in Vegas this week filed the latest report from the Jordan Brand ad shoot, featuring ‘Melo, Chris Paul, Joe Johnson, Mike Bibby and the rest of the Jordan roster. Apparently CP3 and Q-Rich are really feeling the gear Jordan provided for them, Ray Allen is jacked, and Joe Johnson is nice on the sticks … Speaking of, we got Madden 08 in the office this week. And yes, work has suffered. And yes, some of us are already getting tired of hearing “The Vince Young Show!” all day … Gilbert Arenas on Steph: “If you guys haven’t seen it, you need to search ‘Marbury interview’ on YouTube. If you don’t think this is the best interview in history, something is mentally wrong with you. It was so good, I watched it 12 times just to make sure that what I was watching was actually real and I wasn’t imagining it. He’s like, ‘I’m going to average 10 points, 11-12 dimes, four assists …’ And I’m like, ‘What? Last time I checked, dimes and assists were the same thing.’ Then he answers his cell phone in the middle of the interview. And at the end he just starts screaming, ‘Do it with me now! Do it with me!’ I had to rewind it just to make sure it was really Stephon Marbury on there.” We felt exactly the same way. If you haven’t seen the interview in question, here it is … The Pistons signed Jarvis Hayes. Finally healthy last year, Hayes wasn’t bad playing about 20 minutes a night for the Wizards, and put up almost 11 points a game in their first-round series against the Cavs. He’ll give Detroit some depth and a little bench scoring … The Clippers beefed up the PG position a little by signing Guillermo Diaz, the ex-Miami Hurricane who balled in Greece and the Czech Republic last year is a sick athlete (his vertical is around 45 inches), but isn’t really a true point … We called it from the moment Portland chose Travis Outlaw over Ime Udoka: that Udoka was gonna end up on the Spurs. It might seem like a “so what?” signing, but Udoka is solid. He was a full-time starting small forward in the League last year, and is a great defender who works his butt off. Do you know how he made the Blazers last year? He was out of the League and, since he lived in Portland, was just working out at the facility every day. He was good enough to land a tryout, and as the season approached, guys like Jarrett Jack said they would protest if he didn’t make the squad … According to the Arizona Republic, Grant Hill and Tamia paid more than $3.75 million in cash for their new crib in Phoenix … Our favorite Ukrainian quote-machine, Kyrylo Fesenko, had a couple more gems in the Deseret Morning News after signing his Jazz contract. Asked what he’d buy first, he said, “I don’t know. I don’t want to spend all my money in six weeks.” And until training camp starts, he said he’s staying away from the gym, choosing to swim and run instead. “I will not play basketball,” Kyrylo said. “I need to miss it.” … We’re out like paying with plastic …

  3. F1010956 says:

starbury has been “zekeised” and more dangerous, he has the same doctor as chris andersen ! He sees light and all about him is off the court ; that sounds crazy : he talks like a preacher; an other victim of the “ali” syndrome ( much respect for him) or what… ?
And watch out he will play 5 at sometimes !
Bring us back Reggie pleaz, the nba is getting nuts, the good old days are missing me ! ( reggie is also crazy but his drug is da ball)

  4. Carlosan says:

Did Steph just refer to his wife as his better hoe? He’s like Tracy Jordan meets Rod Tidwell. Man, clip is crazy!

  5. kowtz says:

Reggie should not come back… IMHO…

That will just put all the pressure for the celts to win a clip…

    Can you say Lakers 04???

4 All Stars (former and current)in one team? Not good…

Although tha lakers 04 was more of 4 Future Hall of Famers in one team… hahaha…

Maybe they should sign Barkley while they’re at it…

  6. bigdre says:

anybody smellin udoka as the next bowen?

  7. Celts Fan says:

exactly what I was thinking bigdre. Right as he was starting to decline and there may’ve been a weakness w/ the Spurs, they fix it with a younger version. But at least he doesn’t play dirty…

  8. Amar says:

bowen will pass all of his sith teachings and mystical ‘dark side of the force’ knowledge to ‘doka . . .

  9. Celts Fan says:

but what I’ve heard about him is that he’s a “good character” type dude that will hopefully tell Bowen to go f*ck himself w/ that dirty play crap and to play like a man

  10. Austin Burton says:

Is Bowen any dirtier than John Stockton was?

  11. Undercover Brother says:

Stephon, did you say you feel your sister? Hold on, bro. Your in NY, not West Virginia. Second, You should definetely not do Chronic before going on live TV.

  12. Monsoon says:

yea man..i put that video out in this forum the day after it happens..at the end he is screaming “I wanna spit in your mouth” to the interviewer..
damn son someone can’t hold his high very well

  13. Ian says:

austin everybody hates bowen cuz hes a spurs but ANYBODY will love him on their team
    stock was just as dirty

  14. Emry says:

Carlosan: Re: your question, as weird as Steph was in that interview he didn’t refer to his wife as his better ho, although that is what it sounded like, he said, “My better whole”… similar to, “my better half” but more for the ladies… cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  15. Celts Fan says:

I don’t know if Stockton’s as dirty as Bowen because, since he was smaller and usually doing his dirt against bigger guys, he was able to cover it up much easier. From what I’ve heard, Stockton was pretty dirty, but at least he wasn’t blatant and never (from what I remember anyway, could be wrong) intentionally made a point of sticking his foot under guys when they’re landing. In the early 80’s NBA, both of those @$$clowns woulda gotten smacked by someone twice their size and that woulda been that. I agree you need to stop violence and fights, but at the same time, you gotta let players police themselves a little too. This doesn’t need to be hockey (where fighting’s necessary, cuz if it’s stopped, you get guys hitting each other w/ sticks) but it shouldn’t be women’s hockey either (pansy ass, no checking crap)

  16. E-ROC says:

No other team wanted to sign Udoka that badly?? People wonder why the Spurs are always contending for a championship and winning it. Udoka is a Bruce Bowen clone. He and Bowen will give the opposition fits. Fesenko will be sneaky good in this year.
