Match This

Good for Charlie Bell. We’ve been arguing his case in Smack for a while now, and it looks like he’s finally about to get paid and be able to stay in the States. The Heat stepped up with a 5-year, $18 million offer sheet, which is bigger than the offer Charlie was getting from Greece and — from the looks of things — more than Milwaukee is willing to match. Bucks GM Larry Harris insists he wants Bell back; now we’ll see if the organization is willing to put its money where it’s mouth is. After going after pretty much every free agent guard out there, the Heat didn’t do too bad by landing Smush and Bell (assuming he ends up on the roster). Neither is a classic PG, but Smush is big and athletic and Bell can defend and score. Between them they can provide adequate backup for J-Will. Besides, D-Wade is the real PG on that team anyway … Recently we unveiled our latest cover, and yesterday we dropped Pat’s cover feature on Chris Paul: “Back to the Future”Dikembe Mutombo said in an interview that this will be his final season. He has to be a Hall of Famer, right? Four Defensive POY trophies and Deke ranks second all-time in blocks (behind Hakeem, ahead of Kareem) … The NBA’s only other 4-time DPOY winner, Ben Wallace, had one last little dart for Flip Saunders in the Detroit Free Press. “I pretty much said all I had to say about that situation. Right now I’m trying to help these Bulls make it to the next level,” Big Ben said. “You know, Detroit, I love those guys to death, but it’s their problem now.” Their problem, Ben? … Good news for Blazers fans (who need some good news): Joel Przybilla, who’s going to get significant tick with Greg Oden out (which apparently is our fault), says he’s in the best shape of his career — down to 244 pounds and under 9 percent body fat. So instead of super-slow, he’ll just be slow … The Birdman is trying to come back. Chris Andersen’s two-year drug suspension will be up around the middle of this season, and he’s reportedly working out in Vegas in preparation to try to get back into the League. We actually ran into Birdman while we were in Vegas for a Jordan Brand ad shoot a few weeks ago and he looked to be in good shape. (Alright, you can’t tell much from when a guy’s in street clothes at a club, but bottom line is he wasn’t a house or anything.) We can think of a few teams that, knowing the risk, could use a 6-10 athlete with a motor like Andersen’s … It won’t make as big of a splash as the great Kanye vs. 50 battle, but Chamillionaire is dropping his new CD, Ultimate Victory, today. Naomi got in a Q&A with Chamillionaire to talk about the album, his favorite players in the League, and kicking it with Allen Iverson … The other day we caught high school hoop/football stud Terrelle Pryor in action. Pryor (Jeanette H.S. in PA), the No. 1-ranked QB in the country and is a Top-50 basketball prospect. At 6-6, 220, the kid was toying with the team lined up across from him Friday — which was easy considering he was bigger than most of their defensive linemen. He cracked 100 yards rushing easy by halftime in a blowout. Former Dime intern Kyle, one of our high school experts at-large, thinks Pryor’s best sport is basketball; he put up 21 points, 10 boards, 7 dimes, 3 blocks and 3 steals per as a junior. A few schools are willing to let Pryor play both if he wants to … During the Monday Night Football pre-game show, Keyshawn Johnson was talking about how the Saints need receivers and held up a sign that said “1-310-KEYSHAWN” so they could call him. Bill Parcells didn’t miss a beat: “You should put ‘SLOW’ on there in parentheses.” … Charles Barkley was in the booth for a while during the game and was entertaining as usual. He was talking about the end of his time in a Sixers uniform when he said, “I asked for them to get me Shaq in the draft … and they got me Charles Shackleford.” … We’re out like calling Keyshawn …

Milwaukee must have really lowballed Bell

vegas isnt exactly the place u wanna b if ur tryin to rehab from drug problems

  4. Bron42 says:

I called it about bird man like 8 posts ago when they were askin about pollard or kevin willis.

As for the heat, if they get bell (who has already asked the bucks now to match the offer), they got alot of under the radar youth this summer.Daequan cook, devin green, Alexander Johnson,Marcus Slaughter etc…not exactly allstar pickups but they at least have youth in every spot if you include dorrel Wright.

  5. ted says:

Dime, stop hyping up your own cover jinx. it’s annoying, and a bit pathetic.

  6. Austin Burton says:

We’ve never had any “cover curse” before; personally I thought it was funny how everyone looked for that kind of thing with Oden, hence the “hyping” of it.

  7. girllybballluver says:

Something completely off the topic. In refernce to the latest poll: the best point-guard under 25.
One: Gilbert Arenas is not a point guard.
Two: If he were a point guard…how the heck could he be better than Tony Parker. He’s only useful on one side of the court. When Arenas starts playing defense…we’ll talk…maybe.

  8. Austin Burton says:

That’s the constant argument: Is Arenas a PG? He definitely plays that role on the Wizards. He brings the ball up, initiates the offense … he might slide over to the 2 if Antonio Daniels is in, but when it’s the usual starting backcourt of Gil and DeShawn Stevenson, Gil is the point guard. And Arenas is definitely more talented as a basketball player than Parker. Does he fit the PG role better? No, but if you’re just arguing “Who’s a better ballplayer?” it’s Arenas easily.

  9. João says:

Bell to Miami is very nice, now , I think that Pat is on the block with Golden State, to do this : J-Will for Pietrus and Sarunas them we cut Sarunas and basically what we did will be J-Will for Bell and Pietrus, pretty good ? I think so. And, with this year salary of Bell, we will stay under the cap. But maybe there is something with Maggete or Artest, I dont now …

  10. Lets go Magic says:

I cant understand how people can say that Arenas is a better basketball player than Parker. Sure you could say hes a better shooter or scorer than parker but Parker is probably the best all round point guard in the league. I think this is why Team USA runs into problems whent they play against international teams that emphasise team play rather than individual flair. Parker is hands down a better player until Arenas can prove he can do more than score and talk himself up.

  11. girllybballluver says:

Gilbert is nasty on the court, but purely a scorer. I’m only arguing Parker is better at the point guard position.

  12. Bron42 says:

    umm…
    1) parker isn’t known for his defense either…which is why bruce bowen is the team defender and parker just funnels players into duncan.
    2) Gil is more clutch AND just completely a better rounded player. Parker is a better PG simply because of his weapons on the team. But if you were goin one on one, best player out of the two, gil wins easy. JAque Vaughn is a good pg when you put him on the spurs simply because of his weapons.
3)america struggled in international play because its just that, international play. Different rules (going from never goaltending to expected to goal tend is alot trickyer than you think), plus up until this year, we stopped sending our BEST guys. and even this year wasn’t all of our best. KG instead of tyson chandler anyone? Ray allen or wade over mike miller? Thats why we sstarted having such a hard time. we pretty much didnt care. Just think the year tmac played in the worlds and that team destroyed everyone by 3. Then come the olympics and everyone from that team, backed out suddenly. no tmac, no carter, no kidd, no jermaine oneal. Instead you got guys like odom and paul pierce who are good, but not close to our best at the time.

  13. Bron42 says:

    *destroyed everyone by 30.

  14. nick says:

in terms of best pg, you also have to look at the team. arenas needs to score for his team to win while tp has a much deeper team so scoring is not needed as much. i’d say it is a toss up at this boint between arenas and parker, can’t go wrong with either.

  15. JC says:

Bron, i feel you. Sine when was TP a lock down defender? All TP can say (in a dave chappelle voice) is, “Kiss the rings, b*tch” Arenas is a better player pound for pound and maybe just as fast. Two years ago they were saying Gil might be the fastest in the league.

  16. Bron42 says:

on a vote by the players TJ ford was listed as fasted in the nba

  17. João says:

Hey, if you put Parker in the Wizards, I dont Know if they will do better, but if you put Arenas in the Spurs, them they will win 75 games, book it.

  18. dlee says:

so you’re saying that our “third-string” stars (pierce, odom, marbury, etc.) can’t even beat a bunch of “Euro” players who have no chance at the League? “Best League in the World,” what a joke.

  19. Ian says:

    bron how u been?

i think parker is way better than arenas
if its a numbers thing arenas wouldnt have that avg as a spur and no way he gets near parkers fg numbers
arenas as a spur 75 winsss puh please what r u smokin?
if parker where focal point of the spurs offense he can avg as much as arenas with fewers shots

parker is the better PG by far
people need to stop looking a players wih good numbers on bad teams and think their great
arenas can take a 100 shots a game and nobody woulkd care cuz the suck put him on the spurs he gets 12-15 shots like duncan and parker and lets see hes avg

    finals mvp

  20. Bron42 says:

lol first off, he was the finals MVP against the CAVS!! who is their pg? a second round rookie? Damon Jones? larry hughes in a giant body cast? lets not make it like he destroysed some elite pg. Also you said if parker was on the wizards he’d have more points on less shots? Considering agent zero is a much better shooter than parker? 90% of parkers points are floaters or circus lay ups..hes not a deadly shooter. And yes, the wizards are not as good as the spurs. but you ALSO cant gas up OK players on stacked teams like their god sends. On a bad team, parker isn’t carrying them by himself. But luckly he is on a stacked team. Plain and simple, Parker is a better pg based on system. But overall talent and killer instinct is Gil.

And about the team usa thing..were you questioning me or agreeing or what? Yes, a team of 3rd string nba players who are put together last minute wouldnt beat a good euro team. Also given the fact its pretty much one game elimination. Any ballers knowns that. You can go play street ball, meet 4 other guys who play nice as hell but if your not used to play together (let alone with difffernt rules) theres a high chance you’ll lose. Add to that the fact that they weren’t the best players we have and WEREN’t even selected based on filling roles, its not hard to see why they lost. Lets fill at team with a bunch of guys who have the same skill set..hmm great idea…but look what happens every time we send our best? spanked…what happens when we send guys for specific roles? spanked…so calm all the talk

  21. db says:

The only thing missing from Arenas’ game is awareness that basketball involves nine other guys being on the court. Other than that, he’s obviously better than TP.

  22. Bron42 says:

ya your right, becauses hes playing with 13 other allstars and just simply refuses to involve them. Its all so clear now. When lebron or kobe chuck shots, its because their teams suck..when gil(who is a much better scorer than lebron) puts 60 on the suns breakin their win streak, it just shows he lacks awareness. right right…we’ll just ignore their last like 5 draft pics have been bums so far, jamison always being hurt, and caron being more intimidating than all their big man…

  23. Ian says:

bron what r u saying about parker
    he destroys all the pgs
have u seen him play wade and billups
    please
and about the points u said it right arenas is a better shooter but tp isnt taking those jumpers hes getting in the lane DOESNT MATTER WHO GUARDS HIM

trust me if it where the wizards in the finals he does the same thing finals mvp

some of u always us the scrub team thing (arenas has two other stars if he where that good of a pg they could get more wins) to say some players arent as good like the garnett and duncan thing we talked before.

parker does more things than arenas and is more effective doing the only thing arenas does scoring

  24. Ian says:

bron let me ask u how did parker do the entire playoffs against iverson nash williams

  25. Bron42 says:

lol what does parker do thats more than arenas? the floater, thats about it.

And look at what your naming…arenas kills whoever he plays too..

Nash? come on lol he plays no D and arenas put 60 on him
Williams? um last i checked he was avearging 30 on parker just as easy during the playoffs and single handedly kept the jazz in the series.

Iverson? parker didnt even do that much agasint him in the playoffs..

And if your gonna point out that peoples teams suck, you gotta look at their surroundings. Great players get stuck on crap ass teams. Benard king anyone? Just because his team sucked other than him you can’t go “oh well if you put someone else on that team they’d win everything” look at joe johnson. everythought he would fall off cus nash was SOOOO great, but instead joes stats got beats showing he wasnt just good cuz nash. Could you say the same about parker? with no duncan? no bowen covering the best guy?no manu to park the bench? you really think he would carry a bad team as a speedy guard who can’t shoot and is undersided? yes, the wizards have caron butler and jamison who are both often injured and arent nearly comparable to anyone on the spurs. So yes, just like duncan, if your on a stacked team, you can look better than you realy are…just look at duke and NC players..even the illinios team. sure they did great as a combined team but once broken up all except maybe on star on the team sucked. Dee brown? augustine? no way parker would carrry ANY team by himself. plain and simple.

  26. DOC says:

Parker is nice but act like yall know basketball. He plays with the Spurs. Arenas will bust his ass. Billups busted his ass in that finals. If yall remember Pop was giving him that ugly face in that series because how Chauncey was killin. Ginobli and Duncan got off Mr. Big Shot would have got MVP if they won that game 7. WTF did he do against AI I dont remember. Nash cant stick nobody but was giving it all back. And D Will merked him in the playoffs this year. TP nice but he play with the best PF ever and a got lockdown defenders on his team.

  27. Tamilan says:

Parker better than Arenas ? That’s jokes. Parker could drive, has some nice moves, might spark something…but Arenas can take over games ! Jose Calderon has almost the same game as Parker, both weak shooters, but they can drive to the net and finish. Arenas can also do that, and has a lot of other weapons as well. His work ethic just blows Parker away.

  28. Austin Burton says:

Regarding the claim that all Arenas does is score … Does it matter that he averaged more assists than Parker this season? And more rebounds and steals? I like Parker’s game and give him all the props that 3 rings and a Finals MVP deserves, but come on: he’s not individually as good of a basketball player as Gilbert Arenas.

For what it’s worth, when I interviewed Tim Duncan around the All-Star break, he said he’d love to play with Gilbert and that he thought Gilbert could fit into San Antonio’s system despite the perception that he needs so many shots to be effective.

  29. Ian says:

bron the just like duncan thing u said is really stupid. look better than he really is lol. u still dreaming that kg is better. when there like 5 pfs alltime between them. look better than what he really is lol. in 20 years no one but minny fans will remember him.

  30. Christian Grant-Fields says:

Tony Parker defensively isn’t that much of a drop off from Nash in my opinion. He really doesn’t stop anyone. I agree with the notion that if they were traded straight up for each other the Wizards wouldn’t be much better.

TP is sick, but his jimmy isn’t there like Gil’s and he is not nearly as athletic. I think put in the right situation Arenas could run an offense just as effectively as TP.

In terms of pgs in the L, I can name about that are better than TP (Not taking any credit away from him, but these guys would be picked up before him if I needed a pg); Nash, Billups, CP3, J Kidd, Wade and A.I. (If you count the last two as PGs)

And besides….Gil gave Kobe MASSIVE buckets, and we all know KB24 straps up on the defensive end.

  31. Bron42 says:

did you really say no one will remember KG? You sure talk ALOT ian for someone who backs nothing up with fact. Austin already proved gils stats are better than parkers overall, and not just scoring.. ASSISTS AND STEALS. So if you ignore their records, hes already a better pg than parker because he scores more, has more assists and steals.

And get it right, I’m not sayin duncan sucks, i’m not sayin he isn’t a top all time pf. But he has a supporting cast built for what he does. KG…did not..very few GREAT GREAT players are going to beat everyone themsevles. Look at kobe, easily going into the hall of fame but as great as he is his team SUCKS. Does that take away from him and suddenly mean that tony parker is a better player cuz he has rings? or does it mean kobe doesn’t have people around him to help him compete? Duncan had guys who fill his weaknesses (like athletic ability) and he fills theirs. KG had guys who weren’t busy during october and somehow got signed. Not really a fair comparison. Same with nash. He gets all the credit for the suns, but the suns were in the playoffs before he came. Amare wsa killing before he came, marion was the matrix before he came, they havn’t won anything more playoff wise since he got there, and dallas hasn’t missed a beat since he left…so is he really THAT much of a difference maker? or has he just played with really good people who he can set up? its not like he turned steven hunter into a top 50 player or something, he went to good teams and made them slightly better but hasn’t won anything.

  32. Ian says:

is easier to put up great numbers on a bad team than a stacked team
just think about duncan numbers if he where in minny

and YES no one will remember garnett
well maybe when they do a top ten list of players that didnt win a ring (or barely make the playoffs)

and duncan is the GREATEST pf ever he has everything to back that up

kobes team can suck now he already won 3 times

and u mentioned nash the best pg right now in the league sure the suns where in the playoffs as an 8th seed and amare avgs around 19 ppg with nash compared with 26 with and all those crappy players that nash turns into really good ones????

dont know what basketball u watch but u just mentioned the best pg and pf of the league by FAR

  33. Bron42 says:

Lol i work in the nba so again, pay attention. What crappy player has nash turned into a really good one? Amare? been good and his points increase are accounted to maturing, he did come out of high school remember. Matrix? been good. Joe Johnson? didn’t get bad without nash. Raja Bell? was a lock down defender in phili.Dirk? dallas did better without nash.Josh Howard? Allstar after nash left. So that leaves…hmmm james jones. Ya i guess your right, nash is a career changer. Hmm one thing though..last i checked, he hasnt won much of anything either…guess no one outside of the suns will remember him either. Guess he would be on that top 10 list too huh?

And if duncan were in minny? he’d get his points and the team would STILL SUCK. just like KG. See heres the thing Ian, which you obviously keep overlooking. You say basketball is a team sport, when one amazing guy isn’t gonna carry a team of bad players over a well rounded team. Duncan in minny would have done JUST AS BAD as KG did. He wouldn’t over suddenly averaged 50 and had them winning rings. So now marko has the same potential as tony parker right? he just needs time duncan to make him shine right? i guess that lowers parkers value and just proves tim duncan can turn straw into gold right? Exactly. You cant have it both ways.

Now if KG goes to boston and completely sucks. then maybe you can complain cuz he actually has other talented players. but don’t compare him and duncan when duncan has been on a stacked team SINCE he was drafted. The spurs had one “ironicly” bad year, and are out of the playoffs, get duncan and put him with a hall of famer, then built a team around him. Duncan isn’t atlethic, so heyyy draft athletic slasher types. Sign a shut down defender so he doesn’t get in foul trouble. Get a pg who can put pressure on other pgs on the fast break. Its called filling roles Ian, thats how teams are built. Minny on the other hand, lost 5 years of first rounders trying to sign joe smith. Is that garnetts fault? did his stats suddenly drop? and how did they fix this? ricky davis? mark blount? so until your not just gonna ride peoples nuts and actually learn basketball or except fact…go play a video game.

Yes, duncan is a all time great pf. But if your really gonna say, the fact he has good players around him doesnt make him better, you should be allowed to play sports and should have to wear a bike helmet around your house.

To say kobes team sucks now so it doesn’t matter? uh yea, it matters cuz when his TEAM was better, they were winning, now its just kobe and “other guys” and the team sucks…why? i would leave it open ended but you’ll probably say something dumb like “they traded kobe for duncan the lakers would be undefeated” so we’ll just end this.

  34. Bron42 says:

and if you wanna be really nit picky about it..in KGs one real playoff run, he got as far as nash did in how many tries. neither have won rings or even a conference final so you cant diss KG and then call nash white jesus

  35. Kudabeen says:

Gil is better than Parker as a player. Guys aren’t drafted and evaluated on their team success. If that were the case Robert Horry would be the highest paid and sought after player in the league right now. Why don’t we compare Horry to the all-time greats? Fill in the blank: Tony parker’s game is comparable to ___? Maybe that’s to hard, how about Tony Parker is a Top ___ pg all-time? Fact is when have Tony had to stand and deliver. I guess it’s asking too much for fans to take the perspective of ‘can you see TP carrying a team past the first round in the playoffs?’ Who in the league double teams Parker?

I give him credit he is a great winner and he does work hard…i wouldn’t try to take that away from him. His J is much improved and he made people pay for playing off him. Gil is a more physical player on both ends and as stated is the better all around player, if we still use numbers as a measure. No one asked the question who is the Top 5 winning point guards…It’s top 5 – to me this means ability, maybe to others ability means being a champion, but again if that’s the case Bowen is the best SF in the league, Ginobli is the best SG, Oberto is the best center, Duncan is indeed The best big man to ever play the game (because I know many fans like to exclude players they weren’t able to acutual watch or use in a video game), and Tony Parker is just untouchable. Oh yeah don’t forget, Robert Horry is the God of active player…

Championships are won by teams…stop using it to promote a players ability. I respect an Iverson, LeBron, and others who make it to the Chip literally carrying their teams through injury and getting beat up by the press. I can’t say that parker has that in him. He has had a charmed experience (with exception of his first year under popavich). I will never hate on a winner, but I’m all for guys that play through adversity and keep showing up. different strokes for different folks I guess.

France had a talent heavy team in the Euro Chip and Parker’s team got knocked out…Am I right? So what’s the rationale there? If duncan was on that team they would have own it all? He dropped 31 and his team still lost by 14 to Solvenia and no one brings this up? To me the Olympic competition is more of a measure of his leadership and takeover potential and he hasn’t show much. In 2005 he avg 12pg and 2apg a game in Olympic comp on a team where clearly he is the best player. Please explain his Olympic short-comings as the best player on a talented team.

  36. Bron42 says:

    check and mate

  37. Ian says:

so if being stacked isnt a players fault then richmond and drexler were just as good as jordan?? or kidd as magic???

want one example of that bulls lose jordan they win 55plus and make it to the second round now thats a stacked team.

duncan has a dynasty (yes dynasty if the 80’s celtics were are dynasty so are these spurs) with the worst talent compared to all other dynasties in nba history. thats why duncan is great

and dont tell me minny loses the same amount of games with duncan instead of kg

just watch your boy do nothing with allen and pierce on a weak conference.

the nash thing well lets just say he always goes deep

if lebron took a really bad team to the finals garnett should at least make it out of the east with two other allstars

  38. Ian says:

    check and mate LOL

  39. Bron42 says:

um considering your last comment had no fact and was all opinion and wait and see? you cant REALLY consider that a good argument right? The simple fact nash hasnt done anything WITH other amazing players proves hes not the best PG. Plus J-kidd has better overall stats and is a better all around player his whole career. and way to change your theory. first it was, no one will remember Kg if he doesn’t get a ring…but since nash doesn’t have a ring either its, well, nash makes it far alot enough though he never has a ring or wins anything….maybe you should stick to checkers

  40. girllybballluver says:

One on one Gil kills Parker…absolutely obliterates him. His offensive arsenal is just too ridiculous.
But if I were putting together a team, my PREFERENCE is to have a player like Parker. Please note…the improvement in his jumper…he is consistently improving. he does what he does, in the West, throughout the playoffs…and against the best guards in the league. (I’m not saying he dominates them, jus that he still gets his).

It is my OPINION that Gil is a chuck, not only because he has to put up a lot of shots in order for his team to have a chance, but also because he’s just a selfish player. All his statements are about his numbers, and how many buckets he’s gonna drop against coaches he doesn’t like. Not about leading his team to the finals.

If you put Gil in a Spurs uni, he’d be forced to change that cuz one man ball doesn’t work in Pop’s system. (Not to mention the fact that he plays negative defense). Manu said it best, “If you don’t play D, Pop won’t play you.”
However if you put Gil’s killer instinct into Parker, he’d be a serious problem. I do admire Gil’s work ethic…he’s self-motivated. I just wish he were more team oriented.

  41. Bron42 says:

How can you wish he was more team oriented when his numbers from last year were better than parkers overall? He was obviously on a weaker team but has more assists (which is alot harder to do on teams where guys cant finish) and more steals, than parker. So he was dishing the ball more than your amazing pg parker, canceling out the selfish comment, and had more steals so he was playing defense, unlike parker who funals his guys into duncan or the other post player. So your logic is kinda flawed if anyone here is gonna say parker is better because Gil scores more on a bad team when he also gets more assists, and steals on a team where he is gettin double teamed unlike parker ever was

  42. ian says:

bron u just give it up respect opinions everybodys logic but yours is flawed??? puh please
just get a life u r posting the same shit over and over again
why ask the whos better question if u r so right

sure u work for the nba? cuz really your arguments damn
as u can see im not the only one who thinks parker is better

  43. Kudabeen says:

You think he is better why?? That’s the problem. Why is it and please say something factual to back so we can all be enlightened…

Parker is on a better Defensive team, he is not a good defender at all. Parker is on a greatly coached team, he is not a great floor general. The spurs are a machine at this point. They have an awesome organization and have done the best job out of everyone in the league in assembling complementary talent. If you plug Gilbert into the Spurs, you’re honestly are saying that the Spurs wouldn’t be better? wow…

My logic is if I’m going to compare players who play the same position I swap the teams and concentrate on ability. One guy has to take over the other is allowed to. Gilbert has that Kanye complex, where people $%!%ed on him when he was coming up, so he is like “they can’t tell me nuthin!” He will eventually mature and focus on a Championship, but if he thinks Washington is grabbing a Chip with their current team, he would have to Avg 40ppg a game. Love his “swag” and parker has never been tested.

I hate to bring Kobe in this, but it’s funny how much people are promoting Parker, but I haven’t yet heard the mummers that he is only a Champion with Duncan, like you heard with Kobe. People treat Kobe as if he doesn’t have a Chip, but Parker is all of the sudden that dude?!? That takes me back to the Olympics. Parker’s presence doesn’t equal success. They couldn’t secure a TOP 7 spot. They lost to Sovelnia twice I believe. I a game that they needed they lost by 14 points, while being up in the 4th quarter. Parker didn’t step up the D, He didn’t put his foot on the gas on offense, he didn’t rally the troops and drop a bunch of dimes…he couldn’t do anything but watch and concede this:

“Basketball is weird sometimes. We had the game, we were up by six or seven points in the fourth quarter and then we were hit by eight 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and they killed us…We are young, I’m 25, everybody can come back…But it’s very disappointing, you don’t have a lot of chances to go to the Olympics and that was my second and we didn’t make it so I’ll try again.”

He has game and is indeed a dynamic and gifted ball player. He is a winner. He is not the same caliber talent as Gil.

Oh and yes Gil is so selfish he plays on a team where two other guys get enough shine to be considered All-stars, where he encourages and pushes guys like Deshawn and the incoming rookies to step their game up. He is very selfish. Never heard any call guys like Gil and Iverson selfish while they are playing with them or afterwards, because they no the truth. They weren’t even in games until guys like this turn it on and carry the load. If these guys passed the whole game they would be treated like Kobe in a Game 7 or Tracy in the first round…WTF! Why don’t he just takeover?!?

    It’s not even worth it…
