This morning we hit up Soho for the ‘07-’08 Converse Basketball preview. The most historic company in basketball has come a long way in the past few years. Their new product looks great and there is real, positive energy and enthusiasm driving the brand.
Product previews are often held in stale showrooms, and the people showing the product want to be there less than you do. But on occasion - like today - they are actually worth the time and the Converse crew did a great job pulling this one together. The space was dope, the OJ was fresh, the kicks were on point and the Dime Crew got a mini history lesson to finish off the morning.
We had the opportunity to see the last molds used to make kicks for Larry Bird and Dr.J, the first Converse basketball shoe ever made (circa 1915), and an actual shoe worn by the Harlem Rens (30’s). New products to keep an eye out for are the Wade 3 (On sale 11/3), the “What If” packs (March), and the Dumalis.
For more pics of the kicks from today, head over to Bouncemag.com to see some of our favorites.

glad to see converse making a comeback…but more than anything, they have money driving them now, thanks to Nike. All that shared technology and R&D is going to go a long way towards bringing them back to prominence.
