Scores for Schools

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONArenas’ “Scores for Schools” kicks

If you didn’t already know, Gilbert Arenas (who’s been getting A LOT of run around here) is dropping not one, not two, but TWENTY signature sneakers this season — the adidas Gil II Zeros.

One of the sneakers on that list is the “Scores for Schools” edition, which officially drops Feb. 8 and is inspired by the Gilbert’s Scores for Schools campaign. This week, Gilbert picked 82 D.C.-area public schools at random that will benefit from the charity: For each game on the Wizards schedule he’ll pick one of those schools, and for every point he scores, $100 will be donated to that chosen school. For home games, Gil will donate the money; for road games, Wizards owner Abe Pollin will make the donation. Seeing as Agent Zero is probably good for about 2,000 points total this year, that works out well for the kids in D.C. Gil will also give a pair of autographed Scores for Schools adidas kicks to each of the 82 schools.

It’s hard not to root for a guy who gives back so much - and makes it fun in the process.
