In every issue of Dime, we hit you with a list of the best basketball videos we find on YouTube. This morning, while doing our research for the next issue, we found this:
We recognized the footage immediately. Back in July, we made the trip out to LA to be a part of the filming of adidas‘ “Brotherhood” ad campaign. They had a crazy operation going on - hundreds of people, multiple locations and all six of their top NBA guys (KG, T-Mac, Tim Duncan, Gilbert, Chauncey and Dwight Howard) on hand at once to film their parts.
The footage we found today was from a scene where the NBA guys are playing pickup with some local kids. It was probably the coolest thing we saw the whole week we were on set. Pretty quickly, it went from a commercial shoot to the guys really getting after it. The NBA guys turned up the intensity, were barking orders at kids and were even running set plays. It was kind of sick watching KG and T-Mac run serious pick-and-rolls just a few feet away.

These ain’t “local kids!” That one kid was the same height as T-Mac, and the cat who caught the oop had bunnies. Not buying it adidas!!! Lol.
With that said the video was still hot. What sneakers did they have on? They were hot. It’s about that time to start copping in door kicks for the winter!

That’s crazy. I felt bad for the that white kid guarding T-Mac. He looked clueless…LOL.

most of the kids on set could really play - although T-Mac did put that one kid in the grinder. how about the shot DH swatted?

Somebody tell that kid on Tmac to at least put his hands up or something, come on! I have a question though, how much body fat does KG have? 1%? 0.3%? Dude looks like he’s chiseled out of onyx. And for the record, if I was going up for a layup and Dwight Howard was coming at me I would just close my eyes and hope that freight train doesn’t hit me!

I like the part where Tim Duncan goes behind the back to a fullcourt pass streetball style…I didn’t know “flashy” was in his playbook

I’m telling you — drop Tim Duncan on any court anywhere and he’ll go to work. People act like he just a product of the system or something.

that’s why “timmy” is the best. the more you watch the Spurs and Duncan, the more you just realize this guy is insanely good and practically flawless (few great big men ever do hit their FTs). This is what separates Duncan from guys with similar body type.. different work ethic, ego, heart and will power. now if he could just hit his damn FTs..

Looks like a beast! How bout that swat at the end of the video….I know the other dude’s a scrub, but he comes from no-where and gets up to smack that mess….There’s your dream team right there, KG, T-Mac, Tim Duncan, Gilbert, Chauncey and Dwight Howard, add Kobe and Nash(They’re branded 3 stripes, correct?) and you’ve got a crazy mad squad couldn’t be held down by any collection on the planet, past or present (sorry ‘92 dream team…)
