J.O.’s Birthday Party

Over the weekend Jermaine O’Neal celebrated his 29th birthday at Club 7 in Indianapolis. One of our friends in attendance sent these pics along. Marquis Daniels, Jamaal Tinsley, Danny Granger, Kareem Rush and David Harrison were all there for Jermaine…
(And to answer everyone’s question, yes, that is his wife Mesha.)

No Homecoming for Gil?

They’re killing the Kobe/Gilbert rumors…
(Photo. Jonathan Mannion)
After this rumor dropped yesterday, various sources today are squashing it. In this morning’s Washington Post, Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld says it’s not happening and that they’ve never had conversations with the Lakers about Kobe.
Over in Peter Vecsey’s column in this morning’s NY Post, he not only kills […]

Season Greeting

Gil helped us ring in the new year
(Photo. Tim Tadder)
Can you tell we’re a little amped for the start of the regular season? We went into Dime #37 and pulled Gilbert Arenas’ Eastern Conference Preview and Carlos Boozer’s Western Conference Preview and dropped ‘em on the site yesterday. The feedback we got was split — […]

Carlos Boozer’s Western Conference Preview

Photo. Jeffery Salter
For part of Dime’s NBA Preview in Issue #37 (on newsstands now), I hit up two of the League’s All-Stars — Gilbert Arenas and Carlos Boozer — to have them break down their respective conferences for the ‘07-08 campaign. I got up with Booz right before training camp started, via phone from his […]

H.O.F. Watch - Elton Brand

Photo. Joe Tannis
Every day for the next few weeks we’re gonna take one active NBA star with at least arguable Hall of Fame credentials and break down his chances of getting into the Springfield, Mass., hoops mecca. We’re looking at not just past accomplishments, but also how a player’s career realistically projects for the future. […]

Gilbert Arenas’ Eastern Conference Preview

For part of Dime’s NBA Preview in Issue #37 (on newsstands now), I hit up two of the League’s All-Stars — Gilbert Arenas and Carlos Boozer — to have them break down their respective conferences for the ‘07-08 campaign. I got up with Gil soon after he landed in NYC for another preview; […]

Gil for Kobe?

Would he rock the 4-5 too?(Photo. Jonathan Mannion)
Buried on page 2 of Sam Smith’s article in the online version of his Chicago Tribune column today is this bit about the “dark horse” in the Kobe sweepstakes:
Agent Zero going Hollywood?
One general manager on the periphery of the Bryant talks says he believes the “dark horse” to […]

Ravishing Rasheed Rude

If you missed it over the weekend, Rasheed Wallace told the Detroit News that he thinks the Pistons got jobbed in the Eastern Conference Finals due to an NBA conspiracy, adding: “This game ain’t basketball anymore, it’s entertainment. It’s starting to get like the WWF. There ain’t no real wrestling anymore either. It’s all fake.”
Oh […]

The Night Before Christmas

Topic of Tuesday conversation
(Photo. Jonathan Mannion)
It’s like Christmas Eve around here, today being is the day before Opening Day. Pretty light schedule tomorrow: Spurs vs. Blazers, Lakers vs. Rockets, and Warriors vs. Jazz. The first two are on national TV, so if you don’t have League Pass, don’t worry. And not only is the Utah […]

Deal or No Deal?

So which is it? Just yesterday we saw an NBA preview magazine (not ours) that not only predicted the Bulls to win the East, but said they were fine with their nucleus — Big Ben, Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Tyrus, Nocioni, etc. — and wouldn’t be making any trades for certain superstars (Kobe). But we still […]

Bring ‘em On

The preseason’s officially over, and now we wait for the real games to start. Kevin Garnett punctuated an offseason where he was part of the big story by hanging a triple-double on the Cavs with 21 points, 13 boards and 10 dimes … When was the last time an NBA Finals team missed the playoffs […]

You Will Never Look at Bo Ryan the Same Way

Have you seen this? We caught it on a Big Lead post from Tuesday. Not sure if this will help or hurt Wisconsin recruiting…

More With KG

Kevin Garnett’s competitive nature is the stuff of legend - it’s something that’s brought up in almost every single KG story ever written. It’s definitely not an act. I’ve seen the competitive nature first-hand multiple times, from when he put his own sister “in the chamber” on the Target Center’s court after our photo shoot […]
