H.O.F. Watch - Dikembe Mutombo

Every day we’re taking one active NBA star with at least arguable Hall of Fame credentials and breaking down his chances of getting into the Springfield, Mass., hoops mecca. We’re looking at not just past accomplishments, but also how a player’s career realistically projects for the future. For a full explanation of the process, click […]

* During last night’s 80-77 loss to Oregon, every possession that Kansas State swung the ball around the perimeter and took a shot without getting Michael Beasley a touch was a reason for Ernie Kent to celebrate. Beasley finished with 24 points and 12 points on 10-17 shots, far too few for a player of […]

S-Jack: Defensive P.O.Y.?

S-Jack (Photo. Eriberto Oriol)
Ok, probably not. But this morning’s “Talking Points” with Bay-area Mercury News columnist Tim Kawakami lays out the impressive work done by Stephen Jackson since coming returning from suspension:
Stephen Jackson sat at his locker late Thursday just after he finished holding Tracy McGrady (averaging 26 this year) to 11 points on […]

Everything you need to know about what happened in college hoops last night…
- In their 107-100 win over Syracuse last night, the most points ever allowed in the Carrier Dome, the UMass Minutemen shot right through Boeheim’s vaunted 2-3 zone, dropping 14 treys on 31 attempts over the scrambled and often slow rotation of the […]

How Close Was Reggie?

Don’t disappoint KG (Photo. G.Land)
Today’s Boston Globe has a good piece about just how close Reggie Miller was to signing with the Boston Celtics this offseason:
The Pacers, Mavericks, and Cavaliers all had made fruitless efforts to bring him out of retirement. But when director of basketball operations Danny Ainge called Miller about joining the improved […]

Lost Ones

Awwwwdaaaamn!
Here’s the problem with the Cavs: While their #1 is one of the five best players in the world and has playing better than anyone anywhere for the last month or so, 2-through-12 they’ve got a collection of talent that’s subpar at best. Hence the .500 record for most of this season, and hence the […]
