Daily Fantasy

As always, any questions for the Doc, just leave them in the comments.

Jarrett Jack/Steve Blake - Someone should keep track of how many times these two get mentioned in the Daily Fantasy column. Blake started yesterday, Jack finished and played better. Still, Blake had nine dimes and is the better long-term pick up.

Josh Childress - Solid chance I dropped him for Steve Blake. Even the Doctor makes mistakes.

Paul Millsap - It is a straight minutes factor for Paul Millsap. Last night, he got them and went off for 24 points, 5 boards and 5 steals. Funny part is that with 25+ minutes Millsap should give you more than 5 rebounds. All it will take is one front-court injury to make Millsap an immediate pick-up. And considering that Okur, Boozer, and Kirilenko are all injury prone, Millsap is very likely to have consistent value at some point this season.

Lamar Odom - Odom will suit up and start on Friday. Solid chance he ends up injured again this season, but Odom is a fantasy beast and should be in all lineups next week.

Dwyane Wade - The Heat need him back right now. According to Wade, his knee, not shoulder is all that’s holding him back. He’ll probably miss another couple games, but the Heat need him on the court.

Cuttino Mobley - Another Cat Mobley mention. As soon as we told you to go grab him, Mobley pulled his groin and is out a few games at least.

Sam Cassell - Turn back that clock Sam! Cassell went bananas last night hitting every shot in sight and also dishing 8 dimes. Sam is looking like a great late round pick up right now and is holding off Brevin Knight from big time minutes.

I have Eddy Curry and Bogut. They’re killing me in FT %. Should I drop one of them to try to win FT’s and pick up someone like Diop (I’m not sure how his numbers are going to be when Dampier comes bac) or an all around player like Grant Hill. Last question, do you think Maxiell will turn into a fanstasy sleeper? Thanks!

  2. DD says:

I’m in a ten team, 9 category roto league. I’d like to improve TOs, assists, and FT%. How would you rank the following players on my team?

    Martell Webster
    Rashad McCants
    Tyrus Thomas
    Luke Walton

Available players on the waivers are:

    Francisco Garcia
    Bibby
    Steve Blake
    Kyle Lowry
    Pietrus
    Brevin Knight
    Antoine Wright (is he legit?)

Should I drop one of my players to pick up someone off the waivers? If so, which players do you suggest dropping and adding? Thanks much!

I got offered Ron Artest and Zach Randolph for Josh Smith and Stephon Marbury.. What do you think?

  4. Gregg says:

Diop has been beasting averaging ~3.5 blks/game with solid pts and rebounds. I’d take him right now over Bogut. Plus seriously, once Dampier returns he’ll still play 2nd unit. Dallas’s front court is thin with Bass injured and Howard still getting used to sets.

Grant Hill is an awesome player playing for a system that does not utilize his talents. He is not a 3pt shooter, never has and never will be. He needs to drop back to the second unit and plug in a physical/shooter (too bad they can’t get Q-rich back). I think Hill is best suited for a ball handling roll with Diaw in the second unit with Nash out so that can free up Barbosa to do his thing with the 3’s and penetration.

And Maxiell will eventually break into the starting line up. He’s good for fg% and blocks in the long run. McDyess is showing his age and capability in long stints.

should i trade al jefferson to get Sheed?

  6. Gregg says:

Josh Smith has sexy stat lines- close to posting 5×5 in the last 2 games. Sounds like a good trade to me.

    And for that other question
-Last two have horrible ft%. All 4 have mediocre TOs. But Walton consistently posts 10/5/5 with on the high end 1 3pt
    1.Walton
    2.Webster
    3.Thomas
    4.McCants

  7. KW says:

Someone is offering me Ron Artest and Zach Randolph for Josh Smith and Stephon Marbury.. Should I give up Smith and Steph?

  8. Gee says:

You can get Odom for cheap too. I don’t know if dude will be that same after the incident with his child. I hate that. I do hope he still balls. Anyway right now he is cheap and if he doesn’t get injured, if he is on your squad you good to go.

Here are all the anwers to comments so far…

    NT,

You can’t cut either of the centers, but I like the idea of picking up Grant Hill. I like Maxiell but it’s all about minutes and consistency. He’ll have up and down value. If you’re worried about free throw percentage, Maxiell may as well be shooting them with his eyes closed.

    DD,

None of the guys you listed, with maybe the exception of Walton, will really help with assists. Everyone but McCants deserves a roster spot though. Drop McCants and stash Bibby for when he returns.

    KW,

How badly do you need blocks and assists? You gain boards and scoring, and probably steals, but you lose blocks and assists.

    Finance Lady,

    No.

  10. Coldchain says:

Someone was telling me they think Josh Smith will eventually be a Shawn Marion-type fantasy player, getting Top-5 pick consideration. What do you think?

  11. Texas says:

What do you think of a Tony Parker for Ricky Davis (I’m thinking his numbers will eventually be better with Dwayne Wade back).

I was also offered Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison for Kevin Garnett. What do you think?

Should I drop Jameer Nelson or Jamaal Tinsley and pick up Sam Cassell after his monster game yesterday?

  12. Jah says:

    Doc, help me out:

I’m in need of some help in the assists category. I’ve got Steve Nash, but Chris Paul is beasting him at the moment. I’ve offered up Ben Gordon for AI. Think this is a good move?

  13. The Fantasy Doctor says:

    Coldchain,

Josh Smith has some similar ability and I think he can be a top 20 player, but Marion has consistently been a top 6 or 7 player for a pretty solid chunk of time. Nothing against Josh Smith though who is an all around beast.

    Texas,

    Texas says:

    I’d rather Tony Parker.

The Nash and Jamison for Garnett (you’re getting Nash and Jamison right?) is a tough call. I’m 50/50 on the deal and can’t believe I’m saying this, but I really think I would not do the deal. KG’s numbers are going to be insane.

Don’t drop Jameer. Cassell probably won’t keep it up but Tinsley might shoot 35% from the field.

    Jah,

You get AI for Gordon? Great deal for you.

  14. KW says:

Now I got offered Ron Artest and Mike James for me to give up Josh Smith… What do u think about that? Also, what about proposing Ron Artest, Mike James and Zach Randolph to me for Steph Marbury and Josh Smith but I dont think he will go for that..

  15. fantasy doctor says:

KW, don’t make that deal. Mike James isn’t doing anything for you.

  16. GS says:

How do you feel about Kelenna Azubuike. He’s having a monster game tonight. Do you think the return of Stephen Jackson will take a big cut into his playing time. Or will they somehow make it so they give him some decent playing time. Would you keep Ryan Gomes or pick up Azubuike?
