Win a Locker Room Makeover For Your High School!

A few weeks ago, adidas launched their Brotherhood campaign. Brotherhood is the lifeblood of a successful team - you see it on every level of every sport, but it’s especially evident in hoop. You simply cannot win unless you operate as a family. To kick off this campaign, adidas is putting on a contest to reward those who best exemplify brotherhood on the basketball court. All the details are below…

Last year in the CIF playoffs when we (Perris high school verisity boys) was playing Sultana. Everbody thought we was going to lose. Even the computer on maxprep had us as the under dogs. But we had just beat South Hills and was in the third round, we was on a roll. The team got together and we told each other we didn’t care what people said and how many good shooters they had we will not lose this game! The next day didn’t start off to good the charter bus we was suppose get broke down, and the company sent us a Oh My God, bus. Then our coach took us out to eat before the game. I thought I would be too full to play. With a full stomach, the lean to one side bus ride and butterflies, I knew our season was over. When the other team came out that was it, it was on we stood as a team and did just what we said we was going to do. We started out strong and finished stronger. With our teams determination and will to win, got us to our first State game since 1979.By us been a adidas team, and seeing your slogan “Impossible is Nothing” and this contest in dime magazine, I thought our story of team work was deserving of a new locker room for our school. As my garandma would say our locker room is as old as dirt it needs help. One more thing most of our team mates has a 3.0 or higher GPA it was the first time in years we didn’t lose anyone for not getting grades. No one can remember the last time that happened. Thanks for the chance.

    Hooping to Win
    Go!! P-Town

Last year when i was in 8th grade, everyone in our district was talkin about coble (my school) is gonna be raw, they gonna suck just sayin different stuff and all that good stuff. So we were just letting them talk all that and we didn’t say anything. So we started off the season with our first game winning by more than 30.Then we won about 5 straight before losing to our rival Wester middle school by 17.So everyone was saying man i knew yall couldn’t beat them, yall suck.So as a team we were not gonna let that happen so we told wester get ready for us in the district tournament. Then we finished then season blowing every team we beat by 30 or more and we went 6-2 losing our last game by four.So we practiced hard everyday after school and when it came time for the tournament, we were prepared. We told wester “We will win district at ya’ll school we will”. We ended up blowong every team out in the tournament by a good 20 points and more.We were in the championshiop game leading majority of the game playing together was the best thing we did in the game and the whole season. It came down to the last seconds leading by one………………5,4,3,2,1………WE WON DISTRICT THE FIRST YEAR THE SCHOOL OPENED!12-3(COUNTING TOURNAMENTS)WE CAME TOGETHER AND WON AS A TEAM… ALL BLACK PEOPLE ON OUR A TEAM…DISTRICT CHAMPS!!!!!A B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D. We were down by around 15 with 8 minutes left and we were playing one of the best teams in the area. One of the players punched and kicked our teamate when he stole the ball from him then he got ejected from the game. So we came to tegether and had one of the best finishes in the year and we won by 4.

Were 1-6 for the season and most teams after a loss sit in locker rooms and cry their eyes out while their coach chews their ears out about what a bad game they played, but not wyandotte bulldogs yes we hate to lose man but when you walk into that locker room you feel revived around your teammates who are there for you. You just lost and you didnt score not 1 point but when you walk into that locker room you just smile for no particular reason just because you know your with a group of guys who love you and share that brotherhood that lacks in your ghetto neighborhood. Before i go to practice sometimes i dont feel like going but i know i cant let my teammates down and miss a valuable pratice and thats how our whole team thinks. We are a great team even though our record doesnt show it but we are a great team because we have something most teams dont have chemistry and brotherhood.

i am a assistant coach a my high school i am from Natchez Mississippi, one of the most seprated places in america when it comes to black in white.this year our team had a good season for the first time in about 13 years.we win the district title but came up short in the 1st round of south state playoffs.the sad thing is that our own town would not even come to support us there were more people from the opposing team at our home gym.people in my city feel like nothing good can happen in natchez, and every day i wake up i feel the same way but everytime i see a kid a the basketball court makes me stick around.we dont have camps,or nba superstars from where i live.we dont even have a ymca.kids the learn the game of basketball from around here until about 8th grade.maybe this adidas make over can help give my city some hope.
