Freddie Jones - He’s getting serious run since Steph first left the Milwaukee game with that shoulder injury, and has been a regular part of the rotation since while proving his worth game in and game out. I wouldn’t pick him up, but he’s someone who could find himself with some fantasy value at some point this season.
Brandon Bass - If only Bass was still with New Orleans. Kid is a straight beast. All he needs is steady minutes and he’ll have legit value. Last night he went for 25 minutes, 18 points and 6 boards. He has to be on your radar. As soon as a major injury happens in Dallas, he’s a must pickup.
Jared Dudley - I suggested not picking him up until he played a few more games, and last night he showed exactly why. Dudley went from a really strong game that showed potential fantasy value to a night where he once again started, but had 0 points and 2 boards. He’s still someone to keep an eye on, but don’t expect him to be able be consistent for a while.
Big Z - Without LeBron, without Varejao, Big Z’s minutes were still limited to 23 last night (he still put up 12 and 10).
Sean Williams - It’s going to be hard to have value if you’re constantly picking up 4 or 5 fouls in under 10 minutes of burn. Last night Williams had 5 fouls in 6 minutes.
Jason Kidd/Marcus Williams - Rumors are rampant that Jason Kidd is on strike from the Nets and wants out. The Nets and Kidd are saying those rumors aren’t true, and that migraines are the reason for his absence. Whatever the reason, Kidd on the bench is never good for your fantasy team. If he really is trying to force the Nets’ hand (which I suspect he is to a certain degree), the guy loves hoop too much not to either be back in New Jersey very soon or find himself in a new jersey. The only way Kidd’s fantasy value drops is if he doesn’t play, whether that’s because he is sick or on strike. That said, Marcus Williams is only a couple of weeks away from returning and if Kidd does get dealt, Williams could have immediate value.
Andray Blatche - I get a lot of questions on Blatche. Last night the kid played 16-plus minutes, had 8 points, 4 boards, and 2 blocks. He has legit fantasy talent and real value with the shot-blocking ability. He should be owned in most leagues.
Kirk Hinrich - One word: UGH. A few numbers, too — 16 minutes, ZERO points, ONE assist. One more word: UGH.
P.S. — Don’t panic on Hinrich. Really, don’t. Don’t cut him or trade him for a bag of marbles (which is honestly his worth right now).

I have a chance to get Sam Cassell from waivers and drop either Anthony Carter or Jordan Farmer, is this a good idea? Or should I pick up Marcus Williams and wait for him to come back? Whats the opinion on Miles? I hear he’s practicing.

pick hinrich back up, that was a bad drop. i have him too, but i haven’t started him in a few weeks, but seriously, he will have his normal value back soon (assuming he snaps out of it or the bulls make a coaching change). anyway, u’ll wish you had him when he starts putting up 18 and 7 every night again. pick him back up before you regret it.

Doc…right now I have Martell Webster, Nocioni and Travis Outlaw. I’ve got my eye on Delfino, Louis Williams and Garcia. Which of the 3 do you suggest i go with? I’m doing well in most categories except steals. Which of the 3 will i get best value with?

wats ur take on brewer’s 18-board 4-steals night?

The Fantasy Doctor says:
Malik - Peace Jordan Farmar.
laballer - I hear you but I really think you need to be patient with Kirk Hinrich. Plus you can’t deal him for anything.
Snoop - I think I’d go Delfino in that group.
Bigdre - Ronnie Brewer? Big fan. He has scored double figures in every game but one this season and is a steals machine.

hey doc,
i’m on yahoo for fantasy basketball and it says marcus williams’ injury note for a broken foot was on sept. 29th. it also says he should be out for about 6 weeks or so…considering it has been about 9 weeks from then, when should we look out for him to be back on the floor…im also looking for a project player, i.e. - daequan cook, nick young, rodney stuckey, etc. what do you think about them and which would you consider to have the most fantasy value? it’s an extremely deep L if you were wondering…

haha nice one doc!

The Fantasy Doctor says:
Chris Kaman - Marcus Williams is back practicing so I’m going to guess a week to 2 weeks until he gets in a game. It’ll be a while until he is in shape to play real minutes.
Also, definitely Jaric between the two of those guys.
Len-e - 100% accident.

What are your thoughts on dropping Ryan Gomes to pick up either Yi Jianlian, Brevin Knight, or maybe even Darius Miles?

I dropped Red Bull Kurt & picked up the spanish dude from Memphis Grizz. The guy can do it all! And in another league I picked up Jaric, he’s got game! Way better decision maker than cry baby Telfair!
