Power Moves

If the Celtics and Spurs end up in the ‘08 Finals, it’s allegedly supposed to settle the Duncan vs. Garnett debate once and for all. Would it really, though? Maybe it’s just because I’m a Duncan guy, but I don’t think Timmy’s entire body of work — which trumps KG’s in my opinion — would be wiped out in one seven-game series where both guys are on the other side of 30 years old. But try and tell that to any of the Duncan/Spurs-haters who have been waiting for KG to get a chance to prove he’s the best power forward of this era. That said, here’s my Top 10 power forwards in the League today:

1. Duncan
2. Garnett
3. Carlos Boozer
4. Dirk
5. Shawn Marion
6. Elton Brand
7. Chris Bosh
8. Zach Randolph
9. Al Jefferson
10. Antawn Jamison

Lamar Odom, David West and LaMarcus Aldridge were also on the radar.

I’ve already been over why I’d take Duncan over Garnett. Boozer vs. Dirk was a toss-up, which again depends on what you want out of the power forward position. Personally I like that Boozer can finish with either hand near the basket and shoots at such a high percentage; even on a “bad” night he can get you 20 and 10, whereas Dirk is prone to those 3-for-13 shooting nights where he isn’t as effective since he relies so much on his jumper.

I have Marion on this list because even though he’s a natural small forward, he hasn’t played that position in about four years. And as a PF, he’s still one of the best rebounders, defenders and finishers in the League who can also step out and hit the three.

Aldridge is listed as a center on the NBA All-Star ballot, but he’s been playing PF this year while Joel Przybilla plays the five for the Blazers. And if LaMarcus would get in there and grab some more rebounds, he might’ve been able to crack the Top 10. He’s not as bad as Eddy Curry, but he still posts the occasional 3-rebound night.

Fat Zach Randolph? Seriously? He was good enough that Portland couldn’t wait to ship him out on the first thing smoking. I’d take Antawn, Lamar or almost anyone over his fat ass, can that fool even dunk?

I’d like to see Bosh a little higher, but Brand’s resume definately gives him the nod over Bosh. Hard to argue about the rest of it.

  2. DOC says:

I know Zach play for the Knicks but I like LO over him and I like Dirk Diggler over Boozer

  3. DOC says:

And what are people gonna say when Boston dont make it.

  4. williams says:

First one that i can’t really argue with so far, roll on the point guards….

  5. Celts Fan says:

They’re gonna say, “Damn that was some good $hit because you’d have to be high to think Boston won’t make it!”

  6. MoxWestCoastRep says:

Have to agree completely with Control. Who wouldnt rather have Al Jeff or Twan over Zach??? Hard to believe last years MVP is 4th in his own position…But no complaints from me. I may even go Garnett, Booz, Duncan, Dirk. But its close

  7. Youngfed says:

Just because a player can’t dunk doesn’t make them any weaker than a player who can Zach got Game. I thought the list was perfect to the letter although I wanted to she Jefferson a lil higher. P.s. That BS that Rasheed didn’t make the top 10 Centers list. Somebody at dime better respond to that. He’s one of the best. Holla at me Dime.

  8. Celts Fan says:

I think I’d put Big Al over Z-Bo, but other than that, I agree w/ the list. And even if KG and Duncan do face off in the finals, barring a 30-16-8-5 from KG to a dud like 13-5-3 from a healthy Duncan and a sweep from the Celtics, there’s no taking best PF away from Duncan. Even then, I’d still probably say Duncan gets the nod but you can finally start a legit discussion on it. I’m a huge KG fan, but I’ve been declaring TD the best player in the league for a while now, so I gotta stick w/ that. KG has more talent, but TD has done much more with almost as much talent (it would’ve been nice for McHale to not have submarined his prime w/ that Joe Smith fiasco, but you play with what you have and deal with what comes. If anything, that ends up being a plus on his legacy that he didn’t go all Kobe and flip out when that went down.) 3rd best 4 of all time is nothing to complain about either though and I think that’s where KG firmly ends up (1. TD, 2. Karl Malone) unless he runs off a couple rings to take the “great-on-paper, terrible on the court in May and June” Malone out of that spot.

  9. mskittle says:

This one was much more accurate than your Centers list! Al Jefferson is playing like he wants to move up this list, though.

  10. Austin Burton says:

I like how Jamison can score from all angles and that he rebounds, but he’s also a gunner who kills offenses before they get going.

And what is Jefferson if not a right-handed Zach? Their numbers are the same, or just about.

Like I said abotu Rasheed: He’s more talented than some guys on that centers list, but for a center he doesn’t rebound enough for me and he settles for jumpers too often.

  11. Youngfed says:

Mox Duncan and Garnett aren’t close to any of those guys let alone most guys in the league. let me demonstrate.
    Top 5 NBA List:
    1.) Kobe
    2.) Lebron
    3.) Duncan
    4.) Garnett
5.) Iverson (this was the only hard call)
See how far apart they are from most in the league.
Anyone got a better list get at me.

  12. Youngfed says:

Ok I can agree with that Austin he does shoot too many 3’s but he’s kinda good at it I must admit.

  13. NJAggie says:

Youngfed must be out of his mind to put AI in the top 5 players in the league. Especially considering he’s not the best player on the team. Here are a list of people who are a better candidate:

    1. Wade (not a fan tho)
    2. Mcgrady (eh.)
    3. Dirk
    4. Nash
    5. Melo
    6. Arenas
    7. Kidd
    8. Yao
    9. B davis (when healthy)

not in this order of course

  14. Youngfed says:

    NJAggie:
I’ll give Melo but what has wade done this year and Tmac and Dirk can’t play D. Arenas is injury prone and Yao come on. Since when has B Davis been better.

  15. bron42 aka Global4Areason says:

tmac plays D, he even offers to guard the other teams best players. I def wouldnt take yao, dirk, nash or baron davis over iverson.

Unless KG just destroys duncan and the spurs like for 3 years straight, KG fans are never gonna win the argument simply because duncan has rings.

  16. Smooth says:

Man Austin Rasheed aint no center, Rasheed is a power forward

  17. Smooth says:

this is a good top 10 but you need rasheed in this 1 hes a power forward kick off jamison & put rasheed in

  18. YOUNGFED says:

I wanna know what Dime thinks of my NBA top 5 List get at me if you got time. Holla.

  19. YOUNGFED says:

Ya Rasheed gotta go somewhere either 4 or 5 but never honarable mention. “Stop it”

  20. Captain America says:

Finally, someone who makes sense. KG has always lost in face-to-face match ups with TD. Besides, it’s not how a team starts the season. It’s how a team ends the season.

  21. AY says:

Have we come to the point where Dirk, coming off an MVP year and went to the finals the year before, is ranked behind Boozer and everyone just accepts as fact? I know it’s his fault for being the best player on a team that lost in a huge upset last year, but Payton had the exact same thing in Seattle, losing to the Nuggets and I don’t think anyone went ahead and demoted him behind Terrell Brandon the next year. Dirk behind Boozer is ridiculous.

  22. Celts Fan says:

youngfed, you’re an idiot. The top 4 are: 1. Duncan, 2. Kobe (these 2 can be flip-flopped) 3. LeBron, 4. KG
There’s no way you can put LeBron over either Kobe or Duncan til he starts playing some legit D for more than the first month of the season. Until he does that for a whole year and his shooting stays as good as its been so far, you just can’t do it. There’s too much evidence to prove you wrong (TD was all nba and all defensive 1st team his entire career but 1 year, 4 rings, 2 mvps, you’re gonna tell me LeBron’s better than TD? come on…)

  23. Celts Fan says:

AY - we have accepted it because all of his numbers have taken DRASTIC dips to the point that people are questioning if Dirk went Nick Anderson on us (and some people thought he was soft and somewhat over-rated before that anyway…)

  24. control says:

I still can’t believe Fat Zach is still on this list.

    Youngfed,

A 6′9 powerforward in the NBA should be able to dunk, period. Any somewhat athletic 6′9 guy can dunk, and although 2 points is 2 points in the game, it’s a testiment to his work ethics and how he commits himself to keeping in shape.

Zach is just a fat ass, he gets alot of rebounds because he physically takes up 30% of the area around the basket and because his ass is so fat that it has it’s own gravitational pull. The ball just gets sucked in like thousands of doughnuts have. He has a decent shot, and is crafty around the rim, so he can get his points. He plays NO defense…averaging .2 blocks a game in his entire career. Someone his height should accidently block someone at least once every other game.

He shouldn’t starting on any team in the nba, not even one as bad as the Knicks. He shouldn’t even really be in the league at all, it’s a miracle that he is. Being on this list is a disrespect to every powerforward in the nba, from the 9th best to the worst.

  25. girlybballluver says:

Duncan & Kobe are interchangeable at number one.
    Then comes Garnett
Then Lebron *Though if I were putting a team together I’d definitely take Carmelo (Team USA MVP)over him.
Also I’d put Iverson in his prime over Bron also.

Does that make me a hater? I hope not, I’m just really not a Lebron fan. The guy is a freak of nature I know, but still…I’ll pass.

  26. bron42 aka Global4Areason says:

lol i love how people hype dirks 2 good years (that amounted to nothing) like hes some untouchable. Right now boozer is having a way better year than dirk anyway and dirks MVP was underserving simply because he wasn’t the most valuable guy on how own team let alone in the whole nba. and to even compare boozer to terrel brandon is kinda dumb so try not to ride dirks jock too hard. just be happy people have stopped ripping him until his next major collapse.

Captain america, we’ve already proven to you (by posting stats) that neither duncan or KG have smashed eachother in head to head. We also showed you as career stats go, KG has better stats than duncan. So I’d say their pretty much equal in a 1 on 1 scale (not counting supporting cast and coaching playing a part) So if your gonna argue, at least have something behind it.

lebron a freak of nature? eh not really, hes more so just tall. magic johnson wasn’t a freak of nature either. Lebron cant really shoot, his handle is shaky and he doesn’t play much defense. I’d take melo over him (he needs to pass better though) and iverson in his prime over lebron in a heart beat.

  27. Myrie says:

Been away most of the day…but now I’ll chime in on the list rankings….

Duncan and Garnett are interchangable at the top. You get equal production from them on the court. The difference is Garnett has not had stability with coaches and ofcourse, that effected his win-loss totals. Duncan came in the David Robinson on a team that was already solid; but he still earned everything he has.

Lots of talk about Zach Randolph on here. I have not been a fan of his since he was a frosh at Mich St; but somehoe dude gets it done. I guess at some point you have to respect a player who can get you 23pts 10rebs and have the leaping ability of a rock. My little niece is more athletic and she can’t even walk yet. But yet….dude out boards a lot of other PFs on this list. Ask yourself how (hard work down low) and then I guess you gotta respect that. Larry Legend barely had athletic ability either.

Al Jefferson made the cut, but somehow I still think this dude is unproven. I don’t doubt that he may be a decent player, but for now, I’m still a non believer. Antwain Jamison is sneaky. He’s the last one to put the ‘POWER’ in PF, but he gets buckets. Efficiently.

Elton Brand is still the most underrated on this list. He will lead the league in offensive rebounds again next year. I’d rank him #5 above Shawn Marion.

Too bad this list wasn’t from ‘97…..Shawn Kemp and Antonio McDyess would be battling for the #1 slot!!

  28. Celts Fan says:

Bron, not to nitpick, but 6′8” with that vert and being built so big that you’re mentioned as “Shaq on the perimeter” is a freak of nature. Having said that, that freak of nature is no better than the 3rd best player in the nba, so we’re on the same page there.

  29. Gee ... Shaq is so lame now? says:

    Thinkin of a master plan…

Yo that list is straight. The first 6 is straigth well first 5 especially, after that you can start flipping them and changing them around.

Bron you was right about a K.G. fan can never argue against Duncan cause of the rings. It’s so sad K.G. never got out before now, just imagine with some help what he might have gained. This year will tell the truth though, barring injury.

YOUNGFED hit me with a shot of that homey, cause it’s got you out yo rabbit a$$ mind with yo list.

Couple of them dudes on the list or system dudes though. You put them in a different system of balling and coaching and they will not be able to hang on their own as much. ….I know that is the “if” thing though.

Anyway good list on this one.

  30. bron42 aka global-4A-reason says:

celts, his vert isn’t even that high, hence him not doing dunk contests. He gets so much hype as bein a great dunker when his best dunk was the between the legs in high school. Hes 6′8 with a vert in the low 30s(not high by pro standards in the nba or nfl. shawn kemp was a freak. nate robinson is a freak. Which is why i said hes just big. I’d consider 6′11 dwight and his 37′ inch vert more freakish. Lebron is just a big pg, who bullies people cuz his jumpshit is so unreliable.

Gee: garnett has already proven his legacy… people were sayin he was just a high scorer on a bad team and wasnt a leader, meanwhile the timberwolves got 6 players when they traded him, one whom people thought would be better (al jefferson) yet the team is what? 3-20? If by trading one guy you go from one game out the playoffs to second worst in the NBA, I think it speaks for itself. Its not like they pulled a mavs, where they let go of steve nash and went to the finals the very next year. the wolves went from above average to worse record than the knicks on one summer.

  31. Myrie says:

    bron42–
Write your posts with referencing my Knicks. I man have spoken.

  32. Myrie says:

*without* referencing my Knicks. cheap shot artist.

  33. Celts Fan says:

fair enough Bron, he just seems like a freak when he’s doing that behind the head tomahawk he smashes down every game. You’re right though, guys like little Nate are much more freakish (and you don’t have to preach about LeBron to me. We’re all witnesses - to an inconsistent but improving J, spotty effort, and bad but improving D.)

  34. bron42 aka Global-4A-reason says:

    lol i needed a comparison…fine:

“Its not like they pulled a mavs, where they let go of steve nash and went to the finals the very next year. the wolves went from above average to worse record than the [insert terrible team here] on one summer. “

  35. bron42 aka Global-4A-reason says:

celts, lebron has 3 dunks…the 1 handed cocked back dunk, 2 handed alley on a break and his half windmill..90% are on breaks and at 6′8 not hard at all..kobe dunks on more people than lebron and hes 6′6 and older. I mean come on, look at lebron in the mcdonalds all american dunk contest, he did a double pump reverse and they all jumped up like he did a 360 from the foul line…all hype

  36. Gee ... Shaq is so lame now? says:

Bron ummmm I was agreeing with you…? LOL but ok I will again, yea you are right K.G. has proven his legacy and again no fan win the argument about him vs. Duncan till K.G. gets some rings.

I still think he should have left Minny earlier and one has to imagine what life would have been like with help. Now that he does have help, even with his legacy proven, the world will want to see how far he can make it with some good, quality help.

  37. bron42 aka Global-4A-reason says:

gee i kno, my point was to other people. i only put your name to show i was goin off your comment.

  38. Juanito says:

Rasheed is a top 5 PF…put him ahead of Marion for sure. Technically Jamison is a 4, but his game is really a 3. He would be one on any other team. Bosh needs to be higher than Marion as well. Just cause he’s hurt a lot I guess he falls down a bit…

  39. Gee ... Shaq is so lame now? says:

Oh my bad. Can anyone from New York tell me why Madison Square is so hyped (the building)? Is it just the history of who all has been there and played there? Cause when I went it was dirty, small and the seats were way to close together.

Ask this before and didn’t get an answer still looking for some NY’er to justify?

  40. Celts Fan says:

Gee, the history and what’s been there. For the past almost 80 years (I think) just about everyone and everything worth anything has been there.

  41. Gee ... Shaq is so lame now? says:

Aight that’s what’s up then. I was up there for a visit and went in expecting this grand place all emmaculate (sp) and everything and was real dissappointed. Anyway good look on the answer.

  42. racistpete says:

Almost everything in New York sucks. The people, the water, the food, the pollution, the basketball teams and anything else you can mention. The people are probably some of the rudest ignorant people alive, anywhere.

The reason you think MSG is suppose to be a great place, is because New Yorkers tell everything and everyone in the world how great they are all the time. Hear it enough times, and you will believe it, regardless of how untrue it is.

  43. K-Dizzle says:

    Bron
Congratulations for gettin your Steve Nash shot in for the 478th consecutive day
“Its not like they pulled a mavs, where they let go of steve nash and went to the finals the very next year”
    but WTF is
“Lebron is just a big pg, who bullies people cuz his jumpshit is so unreliable.”
You need to pass that shit cuz this x-mas shoppin is stressin me out. The dude is 22yes. old, has improved every year in the league, is averaging 30, 8 n 8, just became the youngest ever to 9000 pts and you, with a straight face, can say, he’s just tall. Get the phuck outta here. Did you see the Detroit series last year? He’s got 3 dunks? uh, ok.I remember a baseline double clutch reverse on Dallas that was just disgusting or maybe crownin TD or maybe you seen him puttin his nuts in Damon Jones’ face. Stop givin juice to flashy play and appreciate that the dude just gets it done. In the mcdonalds contest dunk contest that you keep referencin to, the reason the crowd was losin their mind was because on two of lebron’s “weak ass dunks”, his eyes were above the rim. Go watch it again and maybe you’ll understand. Girlyballer is right cuz dude is a freak. He’s 6′8, damn near 250, has a point guard’s skills, unselfish, can go coast to coast at a much smaller man’s speed. What’s up with you comin on here hatin on every player who’s actually doin some nasty shit, then defendin that weak ass, tissue-soft McGrady. Kobe dunks more? So? By the time Lebron’s at Kobe’s age, he’ll have dunked more so who cares who dunks more? When exactly did you talk to Lebron and have him tell you why he doesn’t go into dunk contests?
Please stop with the Peter Vecsey bullshit like you got inside info that nobody else knows about. Shit is tired

  44. racistpete says:

hey now, easy on the Peter Vecsey put downs…

  45. K-Dizzle says:

sorry about that, i got excited. Pete was the man back in the 90’s

  46. bron42 aka Global-4A-reason says:

dizzle what are you talkin about? i wasn’t even hatin on steve nash. I love how you scrubs consider everything hate when i was statin proven fact..nash left, mavs got better. KG left, timberwolves sucked. plain and simple, wasn’t even a shot at nash so save it.

    as for lebron…
    1) everyone and their mother knows lebron cant shoot consistant. hell celts even agree’d with me be you make it like i’m the first person to ever say it.
2)what about the detriot series? he had one really good game yet you make it like he was jordan. He had a good game, where no one touched him (all 3 of those dunks were wide open drives down the lane when no one touched him) and they still would of lost that series if daniel gibson didn’t go off suddenly.
    3) 6′8 doin a reverse, your right, sick dunker. and him dunkin on TD was a hot dunk? did duncan even contest it? no, he stood there to take a charge and lebron space jam dunked it by reachin across. wow…and dunkin on damon jones? do you see the trend here? you hype simple dunks. damon jones is fuckin 6′2 and unathletic and lebron caught him on….a fast break..like 90% of his dunks are.why don’t u hype his dunk on 6′3 delonte west while your at it.
4)girl baller isn’t even the one who said he was a freak but we’ll go along with it. And your obviously not a dunker cuz anyone who can dunk would kno this stuff. you have Jr giddens doin a 360 from the foul line and they gave lebron 10s for everything, he throws it off the glass to himself and dunks it basic with 2 hands, wow 10. not to mention 4 of the 5 judges ended up bein his teammates in cleveland, and the mcdonalds game was in cleveland. AND on none of the dunks was he eye level, the reverse he won it with, he dunked it on the way down so its not like he was eye level. all his “weak ass dunks” are hype.
    5) I hate on EVERYONE, if you gas someone up and their not all that, i’ll point it out. just like if they do something i’ll say good job.
6)what does his age have to do with who he dunks on? i wasn’t talking about during his whole career. either way, lebron doesn’t really dunk on anyone, kobe dunked on yao, dwight howard etc..kobe dunked on….damon jones.
    7) yes hes 6′8, 240, unselfish, can’t shoot, has 2 dribble moves (a cross over and a step back),doesn’t make the big shot and gets hype just cuz of who he is. meanwhile melo has been bustin since high school.
    8) omg, hes such a freak, hes 6′8 240 and can dunk 1 handed on fast breaks and small pgs. way to challenge people. your right, hes right up there with carter and jordan.
    9) Considering I’ve played lebron in high school at ABCD camp your not really gonna win this agrument specially considering anyone with half a brain will tell you hes good but hes got major flaws. so fuck pete vecsey and get off his nuts.

  47. girllybballluver says:

And here I was thinking I was the only person left in the world that doesn’t like Lebron, or who at least can see that he’s definitely more hype than substance.
I feel so much better…Thanks bron.

BTW…I called him a freak of nature not so much because i think he’s huge in general…but because he was a 6′8 200+ pounds, 18 yr old H.S. kid. What was his momma feeding him?

  48. bron24 says:

ya dood and dirk sux 2 lolzlolzlolz i reely hate nash and durk bt t mizzle is teh best!!!!

  49. bron24 says:

    o n yao 2

  50. bron42 aka Global4Areason says:

wow, that was such amazing likeness…i almost thought i really typed that… have i ever even said T mizzle? I hope not. but ya, you left out manu…how could you leave out manu.

alot of you need to understand the difference between hating and pointin out the obvious. Hating is when you randomly find problems with people just to cause problems. I comment on everyone based on stats. If tmac goes 1-20 from the 3 point line i’d rip him just as quick. Sayin the mavs got better without nash, or sayin he plays no defense isn’t me hating. neither of those is really a secret. if jason kapono led the league in 3s and i said “nah fuck him hes a bum and cant shoot 3’s for shit” that would be hating. If i say D-wade shouldn’t ever shoot 3’s, is that hatin or is it cuz he’s not a good 3 point shooter? sayin dirk chokes, isn’t hatin cuz hell we all kno he chokes. I’m sorry for not tryin to be someone wanna be fan boy who just rides players jocks cuz their my favorite players. i’m a fan of basketball, not just specific players who i’m gonna hype when their not even playin good (dirk fans). I say nash doesn’t play D and that costs the suns, everyone jumps on me like i’m makin it up instead of bein real basketball and just goin “ya his defense is weak” Instead ya’ll wanna kiss everyone ass and try to pretend their perfect..I say dirk chokes in big games, all the dirk fans go “ya well hes the best tall shooter ever” like that changes the fact he chokes. I say yao isn’t dominant, they go “well he isn’t supposed to be shaq and he still gets you stats” so, hes STILL not dominant and boozer/okur still ate him up. Ian comes out “manu is better than tmac and kobe combined cuz hes efficient” meanwhile how often in games is manu doubleteamed like kobe or tmac? so he should be more efficient. Thats like sayin wes welker is better than randy moss cuz hes more efficient. stop bein fanboys.

  51. karan says:

you’re on crack if you have bosh at 7th, below marion and brand

  52. G says:

Don’t see why all the hating on Randolph, one of only 4 or 5 guys that managed to average 20 and 10 last year. Points are a bit down this year but its still early. May not be as fun to watch as some of the other above the rim type guys, and yes the ball has no chance of ever coming out of the post once its gone in, but gotta give credit where credit is due and he gets the job done.

Strikes me as being kind of a small pool to choose from though. After the honorable mentions there isnt much else to choose from.

  53. vince says:

brand should be higher. he can score and defend with the best of them. boozer doesnt nearly come close to brand’s defense, as where brand iks close to boozer’s offensive output

  54. K-Dizzle says:

First)I don’t have time for stupid arguments so you can just watch the dunk contest and tell me lebron’s head isn’t above the rim on his last dunk.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyPsiBBOCes
Second) What’s your obsession with fancy dunks and dunkin on people? You sound like a bitter dude who thinks he should be in the L and can’t believe a ’scrub’ like lebron is stealin all his thunder. Lebron ain’t shit cuz he only crushes on people who are smart enough to know not to challenge him? or maybe it’s his fault that he destroyed his defender in the detroit series so bad that last year that when he got to the rim, there was no helpside? What do you think it means when a defensive minded team like Detroit gets crushed by a 21 year old in the conference finals to the point where he’s gettin to the rim at will?? It means his weaknesses mean nothing when he’s on . Two points is two points. It’s not a dunk contest during a game unless your name is Dominique pre-2006 Vince, Kobe,Dr.J or MJ.
Third) Why does the argument come down to “I played against Lebron in high school or I work with Jason Kidd?” I don’t give a phuck. I’ve played against Baron, Pierce out in pasadena and I know that they bust ass when they feel like. If you can find an NBA player with no weakness, you let me know, cuz the perfect player doesn’t exist. A 22 yr. old who averages 30,8, and 8, but has an inconsistent jumpshot? Did you see MJ, Kobe, in their early years? The only thing that matters is that improvement is being made.
Did you really say Carmelo’s been killin since high school? What does that even mean? Lebron sucked in high school? Or Oak Hill didn’t exist before Carmelo? What’s your comparison? Give Lebron AI and Camby and I’ll show you a contender.
Yeah, he’s all hype though cuz he’s mentioned in mvp discussions every year. His publicist gets him all the undeserved accolades You are a hater, deal with it. You call Yao soft, but McGrady misses more games; you say Nash can’t play defense, but he has a higher career PPG and APG against Parker than Parker has against him so how about Parker can’t play defense?
Hopefully, Lebron can get some team to resign him when his contract is up cuz his inconsistent jumper will be a definite red flag for a team looking for a 20+ year old to build a franchise around. Gimme a break

    1. you said eye level, not the very top of his head. and even then no, he wasn’t that high. SPECIALLY on the reverse alley.
    2. my obsession? did you even read how this topic started? course not, that would make too much sense. the whole conversation came up because celts said lebron has a really high vert, i said he doesnt. your the one who really jumped into the whole “oh he dunked on so and so” topic so don’t try to twist it now. your right, cuz in this argument i called lebron a “scrub” how many timeS? exactly, i didn’t. so stop gassin urself and tryin to win a argument about comments that never happen.I said he can’t shoot, never said he was a terrible guy who can’t score. He crushes on people? who? wat defender does he destroy so bad that they don’t have help defense? again you mention the detroit series meanwhile he only had ONE really good game. one and people make it like he averaged 50 the whole series. Even the head coach said in exact words “ya detroit lost it more than we won it but hey, i can live with that” so again, hype him up for more than hes done please. ANy person who “is on” is usally good, but since hes not constantly on like that, his weakness shows alot. That special kid who hit all the 3s his last high school game was “on” for a minute too, doesn’t mean hes really a great shooter
    4. the fact i played lebron was mentioned cuz I’ve seen him play in person, i’ve guarded him which is why i can flat out say from personal experience he isn’t a shooter. which is why i can say, he just barrels down the lane like a freight train cuz he has no jump shot. Chances are people INVOLVED IN THE GAME have a better idea that people who sit at home and watch it on tv. just like if someone says “oh baron davis cant go left” you would probably have a better idea if thats true or not since you played him.
    5. again, your right, tons of players have weaknesses. I never said lebron was a horrible player. I said (and tons of people agree) he gets alot of hype for doin normal stuff sometimes. and do you even kno basketball or have the capacity to read comments right? i said melo has been bustin lebrons ass since high school. Then you even go as far as sayin its cuz melo has AI and camby? you mean camby who was always hurt melos first couple seasons? or AI who just got there last year? lol ya, your right, melo wouldn’t do anything without them. your provin my point for me. melo and wade were in the playoffs as rookies, lebron was at home on the couch watchin it like you and me.
    6. I say ALOT of people are soft. Yao just happens to be one of them for reasons i’ve stated but since you like to talk aot i’m sure you didn’t even read them. softness isn’t about who misses more games ass, thats called injury proned. yao, is soft, dirk is soft, vince carter is soft. put it this way…when yao got hurt, mutumbo filled his shoes and the rockets won 12 and got to the playoffs. when tmac goes down, the rockets lose. You can ride tmac for a extended time. You cant do that with yao. you can’t just throw the ball to yao and expect a bucket like you did with shaq, or wilt, or duncan. hes not a elite center.
Your gonna say nash DOES play defense? and again, if you ever read my posts, I’ve said plenty of times that parker doesn’t play defense either. The issue is, nash’s lack of defense plays a much bigger part than parkers because of who he has around him. parker can get away with gettin torched, nash cant hence him never gettin to the finals let alone winning a ring.

so thank you for bein another fan boy and just provin my point. you flip out cuz i said lebron cant shoot and translate it as “lebron is a terrible player”, if you read it i also said magic johnson wasn’t a great athlete either. I was comparing him to magic johnson and your dumb ass turned it into a big fight cuz i pointed out WELL NOTED issues with his game? is he good? will he get better? ya. but cry me a fuckin river if you wanna pretend his jumper is consistant, hes an amazing defender and isn’t a product of any hype at all. you talk about the pistons series meanwhile lebrons been gettin this same hype since high school so if you say the pistons game made his career, hes still been technically overrated up until that day. so gimme a break

    ZACH RANDOLPH

    PROS;
    Career PTS = 18.5
    Career REB = 10.6
    Career AST = 2.0
    Career FT = .71

    In the last 5 games as a Knick;
    PTS = 24.8
    REB = 12.8
    AST = 3.4

Considering the Knicks are the ultimate “me-first” team, Z-Bo is always earning his points. Nobody on the Knicks commands the double team, nor does anyone set up Z-Bo for easy “Dwight Howard-type” buckets. Typically he gets fed the ball 15 feet from the basket, and has to either create his own shot or take it to the house. Also, he never mails in games. The Knicks play some of the most uninspired basketball ever seen (Except for the last 5 min of the game when they try to come back from 20 down and fail), and yet he’s always grinding away.

He also punched Ruben Patterson (D-Bag) in the face

dude lebron james is a freak of nature i dont know what the hell you’re talking about

he’s 6′8, he weighs 2 fucking 50 and his vertical is 37 inches (some say its 44 but i think its 37) and he is one of the fastest and quickest players in the league

To put it in perspective, take david lee for example, he is 6′9 240, lebron is 5 times faster than that kid and ill give u another example since some people might say its because lee is white

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW CARMELO ANTHONY IS TWENTY (YESS TWENTY) POUNDS LIGHTER THAN LEBRON JAMES BUT CANT JUMP NEARLY AS HIGH, OR RUN NEARLY AS FAST AS LEBRON

The only reason i think of is simple……he’s a freak of nature

  62. ian says:

    lol bron
    please shut up
    stop the love for losers
    its my opinion
and many share the same one too just go to the shottin guards list and read the posts

i think manu is better than tmac yeah
and u come out talking shit
u say kg is better than duncan and is ok??
please just post your own shit

celts i have the same top three
    duncan
    kobe
    lebron

and bron IFFF kg does make the finals he had to do to the east with two other allstars to make it
duncan does it in the west

duncan can carry any team to the playoffs
    kg cant
but then again just my opinion
    master of basketball stats bron

    girly melo over bron
well lebron is overhyped but melo over bron???
again bron42 tell of all the dynasties who has had the worst team
DUNCAN and yet he does it every year
best winning percentage of any sport the last ten years
    4 titles
all nba 1st team and all nba 1 team defense 9 seasons of ten

who considers garnett the best pf ever??? prob no one
so i really dont see why there is a debate between garnett and duncan
when td is considered the best ever and garnett might crack the top 5

  64. Jaleel says:

    1. Duncan
    2. Garnett
    3. Elton Brand
    4. Rasheed Wallace
    5. Dirk
    6. Carlos Boozer
    7. Chris Bosh
    8. Al Jefferson
    9. Pau Gasol
    10. Antawn Jamison

Gotta agree with my man below about Rasheed and Jamison.

(I don’t include Marion on this list because his natural position is SF regardless of the fact that he has played the position the last 4 years not to mention that the Suns haven’t made really much an attempt to get a C anyway because of their style of play). I think the Duncan/K.G. debate is pretty much the same as the Nash/Kidd debate and are easily can be ranked 1 and 1a. Elton Brand at 6′8″ is a better shot blocker, rebounder, defender, low post scorer than the others listed below him which is why I have him third. Rasheed would be a high as 4 if he were a lot more selfish in regards to how he approaches the game and could easily be 3 (he IS that talented). But a great teammate and unselfish to a fault. Dirk and Boozer are probably interchangeable depending on what you want from your PF. Boozer is the better low post scorer where Dirk is more/better range with his scoring ability. Booze is a better rebounder but Dirk is a slightly better defender and can play some form of defense. But I think when both are on their games Dirk gets the nod (needs to SERIOUSLY step up his performaces in the playoffs however getting locked down by Golden State, Miami, and Houston, although they won the series, the last 3 years). After that Bosh and Jefferson round out the 7 and 8 spots. Gasol is a solid all-around PF just not better than the guys above and see Juanito’s quote above about Jamison. Zach Randolph should be an honorable mention because besides scoring and rebounding dude does NOTHING ELSE!
