Bean Burritos

The great D.C. Sports Bog by Washington Post writer Dan Steinberg brought it again late yesterday with “12 More Zany Wizards Facts.”

Some of our favorite highlights:

1) Nick Young reiterated yesterday that his nickname is “Bean Burrito.” Really, Bean Burrito?

“Terrible,” Brendan Haywood said of the nickname. I asked Nick where it came from.

“It was passed on from generation to generation,” Young said. “Only the great legends were named Burrito. They used call Michael Jordan ‘Black Bean Burrito,’ because he was dark, and his head was like a bean. Kobe was called guacamole.”

“Guacamole?” I wondered. “Why ‘Guacamole?’ ”

“Um, I don’t know,” he said. “I forgot.”

And No. 9: the fact that Darius Songaila once killed “a horse with horns.”

Between Gilbert’s entire body of work, the “Domi.Nick” vlog, and the daily updates on the D.C. Sports Bog, the Wizards are quickly becoming our favorite squad.
