Today in Hoop History, 12.6

December 6, 2000
Both Antawn Jamison and Kobe Bryant exploded for 51 points in a Golden State 125-122 overtime win over the Lakers. Jamison made 21 of 29 shots (2-5 3FG) while Kobe hit 18-35, adding 13-13 from the line. But it wasn’t quite as remarkable a feat for Jamsion, as it was the second consecutive game in which he scored 51 points. On December 3rd he hit 23 of 36 shots in a 118-102 loss to the Sonics. Gary Payton finished with 38 points and 12 assists.

It was only the third time in League history that opposing players both topped the 50-point plateau. On December 14, 1962 Elgin Baylor scored 50 points but was downed by Wilt Chamberlain’s 63.

December 6, 1966
Shooting like someone’s grandmother from the free throw line, Rick Barry netted 14 free throws in one quarter as part of a 126-116 Warriors win over New York.

I think tis was Iversons last game date with Philly

I remember watching both those games that Jasmison went for 50+. He gave me the indefinite lead in points in my fantasy league that year. For that I will always be a loyal Jamison fan.
