Christian’s new Sidekick.

You can’t really survive in this industry without some kind of PDA. While most of the Dime crew sports Blackberries, I personally don’t dig them like that. I’m a Sidekick dude; I’ve had every version of the device, from the bulky first generation to my beloved D-Wade version from last year. And, for a brief stint, a Sidekick ID. Personally, I think the functionality of the Sidekick just suits me better.

So when word started buzzing that T-Mobile was working on a new model, I was geeked. Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t anything wrong with the Sidekick III. But c’mon; everyone likes to upgrade!

After doing a little research on the technical aspects of the Sidekick LX, I couldn’t wait to scoop one up for Christmas. Little did I know I wouldn’t have to … lo and behold, on my desk a few days ago was a brand-spanking new Sidekick LX.

I don’t want to sound like an advertisement, but the device is what’s up. Aesthetically, it kind of reminds me of a Blackberry on HGH. The stigma with Sidekicks is that they look like they’re for kids. The LX has an all-black casing that gives it a “young professional” feel.

As far as the features go; the larger HD screen is hot. It makes the web browser look like you’re surfing from your PC or laptop. Friends of mine used to say that the font on the Sidekick was too small. That isn’t an issue anymore, with the adjustable font feature.

The functionality is the same, so if you already own a Sidekick (no matter the model), you can pop your SIM card in and go right to work. Priced at $299, it’s definitely a good pick up for the holidays.
