As always, leave your fantasy dilemmas in the comments box.
Mike Conley- 11 points, 7 dimes and 5 boards last night. Oh and the Grizz win again. Damon who? Kyle who? Mike is the man in Memphis right now and could put up nice 3rd or 4th guard numbers for the rest of the way.
Charlie Bell - 27 points! Maybe his game is back after we killllled him the other day on the blog. I’ve always liked his game but keep in mind he did have a goose egg in the game before this. Still, he could be a short term pick up.
Big Baby - Someone in our league picked him up after his amazing 4th quarter performance against the Pistons. Guaranteed he’ll be cut by Wednesday.
Al Thornton - “Mr. Excitement,” as Whitey from our office calls Al Thornton (and yes we really call the dude Whitey), is going to be a real deal fantasy player. And it looks like it may happen now. Starting at the small forward, Thornton now has had real numbers in two straight, including once against the Spurs. The Clips may give Tim Thomas his starting spot back at some point, but Thornton should be picked up and is part of the Clips’ immediate future.

Doc,
Drop Kyle Lowry for Carlos Arroyo? Lowry hasn’t been too consistent, but has had some good nights. Feels like the outlook on his season is growing bleaker and bleaker. Season avgs have been decent, but PT looks like it’s going down quick. But then again, is Arroyo just a short term pickup?

The Fantasy Doctor says:
Grab Arroyo. They are both short term, but Arroyo is going to give you more consistently right now.

Should I pick up either
- Conley
- Rashad McCants, or
- Anthony Carter
and drop Daniel Gibson?
I’m in a 3-way tie for 1st, so any boost can’t hurt. We only have one bench spot and that’s been fluctuating between Ginobili and Kenyon Martin’s injuries, but both seem like they’ll be strong down the stretch…

The Fantasy Doctor says:
Pick up Conley… unless you desperately need Gibson’s 3’s.

doc, somebody just dropped tj ford (obviously due to the back issues)…looks like he is getting a second opinion at the cleveland clinic. worth dropping arroyo to pick up tj? i also have kirk hinrich, andre miller, gibson, antonio daniels, and conley that can play the point as well. would it be a good idea to grab him and just hold on to him for later in the year?
thanks.

yourmouth…
wow, you have tons of legit PG… from the looks of it (and assuming ur in a standard league), you’d probably need big man stats and should be looking for the likes of varejao, foster or even mohammed…

Do you like Thornton over Yi and Kurt Thomas?
January 8th, 2008 at 10:54 am
The Fantasy Doctor says:
Tough. Yes over Yi. Maybe over Thomas.

marcus,
i am pretty solid on big men as well. i have boozer, bosh, varejao, wilcox and brand waiting in the wings that can play pf and c. also on my team, i have danny granger, gerald wallace that can also play sf and pf as well. my team is pretty solid and i was just looking to maybe pick up tj as possible trade bait or to bolster the backcourt. anyway, peace guys.

when is brand coming back? Hes available in my league and I can drop Craig Smith and get him before someone else does…

Jules says:
Doc, I told you about my trade for Amare in which I gave up Deron Williams. I still have Mo Williams and Calderon, but will probably need more assists to stay in/near second in that category.
Problem is, I am low in the standings and need help in just about every category - esp. 3s, steals, and boards.
Should I drop Kyle Korver for Conley, McCants, or Arroyo? or should I hold onto Korver? I don’t know if he’ll get enough tick in Utah to make it worthwhile.

Jules says:
I should probably note that I also have Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol on my team. Is that too many Grizzlies on one team if I pick up Conley? I like his across-the-board production a lot.
