More Madness
On Tuesday we linked to Golden State of Mind’s post about how the Warriors are planning to bring in GP.
Now today, the Sacramento Bee has a story about how Chris Webber could be headed back to Golden State instead:
Word on the street says Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has been seen at Chris Webber’s Natomas restaurant, Center Court with C-Webb, twice recently. That only could mean Webber and Nelson are considering the completion of the ultimate full circle and a Webber return to Golden State.
They beefed big-time 14 years ago while both were with the Warriors, but perhaps it is true that time heals all wounds, even gashes.Stay tuned. With agent Aaron Goodwin representing Gary Payton as well as Webber, could the former Skyline High School (Oakland) guard be far behind? Baron Davis, one of the league’s best point guards, needs rest, and Payton surely could fill that backup role.
This makes about as much sense as the GP rumor. Actually, it makes even less sense than the GP rumor. Yes, C-Webb can pass the ball, but can anyone really see Webber being able to run with the Warriors? At least Payton could provide some rest for Baron as a serviceable backup, but we can’t see C-Webb as a fit. Defense is obviously not a requirement to play for Nellie, but being able to run up and down a basketball court certainly is.

maybe they’re trying this so they can play a legit 5 (w/ Biedrins and CWebb down low) and have their up and down style too for when those guys aren’t in. It would make them extremely versatile if that’s what Nellie’s thinking and give them a real “playoff” lineup for when they run up against more conventional teams like the Spurs. If not, this is a TERRIBLE idea…

It’s been two weeks since CWebb said he would make up his and choose a team….it sounded as if the lakers would pick him up….my guess is CWebb is not in shape, the lakers signed Mbenga…so CWebb is out…..Detroit could have signed him back in July…Webber just needs to retire, the same goes for GP, Shaq, although I think SamCassell has another year or so in him…
CWebb has made his money, now….go sit down!

Though once a magnificent player, Chris Webber is now a basketball bum and should’ve hung ‘em up before he ruined the Pistons’ chance of going to the Finals in ‘07.
