The Others

Forget the 15-game losing streak. Forget the 0-5 start to the season. Forget the times when D-Wade and Shaq were out and the team was rolling out D-League lineups. With all that’s gone wrong for the Miami Heat in ’07-08, yesterday’s drubbing at the hands of the Celtics was the low point. Don’t look at the final score (117-87) and assume it was simply the Heat getting blasted by Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, either. KG (ab strain) and Ray (flu) didn’t even play, and Pierce (7 pts) was a non-factor while the C’s built and maintained a huge lead over a Miami squad that was totally out of it from the get-go. The ones killing the Heat were Leon Powe (25 pts, 11 rebs), Rajon Rondo (23 pts), Eddie House (20 pts) and Tony Allen (20 pts). Pierce didn’t even score until late in the second quarter when Boston was already up by 20-something. Wade could only contribute 7 points on 1-for-9 shooting … Rondo wasn’t just getting buckets — he scored 13 in the first quarter while the entire Miami roster had 14 — he was running the show like a vet and playing like this was his team … By the start of the fourth quarter, D-Wade (physically) and Pat Riley (mentally) had checked out and there was maybe 300 people left in the building. One of those 300? Tim Hardaway, sitting behind the Celtics’ bench … Similar situation in L.A., as Kobe (24 pts, 8 rebs, 11 asts) didn’t have to necessarily go nuts for the Lakers to take out the Knicks: Odom, Fisher, Turiaf and Sasha Vujacic each scored between 14 and 22 points. Kobe did kinda go nuts on the refs, though. One time he went up and thought he got fouled (what’s new?) and when no whistle came, barked at one of the refs and got a technical. Kobe didn’t let up, though, and the court mics were picking up most of his rant. Long story short, Kobe got one tech for something Rasheed, Ron-Ron or S-Jack would’ve gotten about 3 techs for … How about Renaldo Balkman just annihilating Vujacic with an elbow in the mouth? Balkman had the ball on the perimeter and Sasha was all in his shirt. Directly in front of a referee, Balkman was like “Back up” and clocked Sasha. It looked all kinds of blatant. Don’t be shocked if a fine/suspension is coming … Mild surprise of the night: Kwame Brown winning the head-to-head matchup with Eddy Curry. Kwame had 10 points, 11 boards and 4 blocks, while E-City had 10 points, 3 boards and foul trouble all night … The last minute of Wizards/Raptors was crazy. Playing without Caron Butler (hip), Washington was up by three when Antonio Daniels tried to drive home the dagger and literally fell on his face. Jose Calderon (23 pts, 13 asts) calmly got Kris Humphries an open dunk, and after a Daniels baseline floater, the Raps tried to get Jason Kapono a look in the corner but he was trapped and turned the ball over. A defensive stop, a Jamario Moon three, and two Daniels’ free throws later, the clock showed 1.2 seconds and the Raps had the ball down by three. Anthony Parker — who was 2-for-14 at that point and couldn’t possibly have been the intended shooter — came to receive the inbounds, turned and fired a fadeaway triple over THREE defenders while falling into the Wizards bench. Bottoms. Or as the Wizards’ announcer put it: “Nooooo! It’s not possible! But he did it!” Did Parker step out of bounds? We couldn’t really tell, but it was Sean Elliott-style close. The Wizards pulled it out in the overtime … Chris Bosh put up 37 points, 12 boards and 3 steals, while Antawn Jamison had 24 points and 20 boards … Speaking of Sean Elliott, yesterday our Editorial Director, Pat Cassidy, vented about Elliott and his extreme homer-ism in his role calling Spurs games. Is Sean a worse homer than, say, Tommy Heinsohn? Let us know … And speaking of the Spurs, they had a chance to break out of this slow-start trend they’ve had going by cracking the Sonics wide open. And it looked like that might be the case when, right off of the opening tip, Manu Ginobili took the ball and immediately went to the rack, getting the bucket on a Chris Wilcox goal-tend. The Sonics didn’t blink, though, as Kevin Durant went right to the rack on his first touch, and from there the Spurs were in a battle. They led by two at the half, couldn’t pull away in the second half, and with 42 seconds left in the fourth were only up by one after Manu (29 pts, 7 asts) hit a three. Durant (26 pts, 7 rebs, 5 asts) answered back with a jumper to give Seattle the lead. The Spurs had their best chance to grab a win on its next possession, when Manu hit a cutting Fabricio Oberto with a nice feed but Oberto somehow couldn’t hit the rim with his layup, capping one of the bigger upsets of the season — Seattle’s first win of 2008 and the Spurs second straight loss on this 9-game road trip … We were watching the game especially close to see if Durant would change his style at all. In case you missed it, some of the Sonics’ veterans have made a little noise about the rookie jacking shots at an alarming rate. Last night the Sonics as an entire team were being aggressive offensively (taking 89 shots to 76 for the Spurs), and Durant didn’t appear to hold back at all, but he did keep the FGA’s under 20, going 9-for-19 while making seven trips to the line … Johan Petro didn’t play much, but he was good while he was in there. He had a highlight follow dunk, swatted one of Manu’s shots, and made some nice moves in the post. There might be hope for that kid yet … The Nets also snapped their losing streak (9 games), beating the Bucks at home. Jason “Clock’s Ticking” Kidd put up 9 points and 11 assists … When Centers Attack: Yao gave the Warriors 36 points and 19 boards, overcoming the absence of T-Mac (flu) to get a tough road win; Amare went all “Cloverfield” on the Hawks, scoring 22 of his 24 points in the first half and only missing one shot (10-for-11 FGs) all night. Amare was scoring at will on Al Horford, Zaza and whoever else Mike Woodson sacrificed, and at least half of his points were on savage dunks … Grant Hill made his return in that Suns/Hawks game, putting up 16 points and 3 blocks. Randy Foye also made it back last night, getting 11 points off the bench in Minnesota’s loss to Chicago … We’re out like Gun-Shy Durant …

  3. Cavs4Kidd says:

There are four teams that Kidd would like to go to, according to Bucher – Cleveland, Denver, Dallas or LA. Cuban says Dallas is not trading for Kidd, according to Truehoop….looks like the Cavs, the Lakers and Denver are the top contenders….not exactly sure what denver could offer…..nene, jr smith and a filler maybe? chris broussards blog about the lakers possible offer would make the most sense to me….odom, vujacic and crittenton for kidd (or switch crittenton for farmar), that would seem to help out the nets the most…..i believe the cavs are third in the running unless they find a third team and ferry works some magic, which isnt quite likely because they don’t have as much to offer (unless for some reason the nets want larry hughes)…..we do have a lot of contracts expiring next year, but im sure Thorn would prefer not to trade Kidd to another East team

to me it seems the likelihood of Kidd going where hes going breaks down somewhere around this:
    1. Lakers (40%)
    2. Denver (40%)
    3. Cleveland (10%)
    4. Others (10%)

    Thoughts?

  4. jz_smoove says:

why the Raps couldnt get a rebound to at least have a chance to win the stinkin game?? i hate them when they play stupid.

  5. jz_smoove says:

maybe cuban is downplaying the while ordeal, meanwhile we’ll jus hear the blockbuster deal and its final, kidd to dallas. i wouldnt put it past cuban to do this.

JUST TRADE JASON MOTHERFUCKING KIDD TO A MOTHERFUCKING CONTENDER

  7. YOUNGFED says:

quick question? Which team would Kidd help the most and where do you guys think he’s going.

    Mavericks
    Cavs
    Nuggets
    Magic
    Celtics

My Pick is the Cavs I feel it makes the instantly elite

  8. YOUNGFED says:

Also how many of Ya’ll think Camby is a shoe in for the allstar. I say he must get in

  9. Ak47 says:

Kidd to the Cavs wouldn’t help Cleveland’s offense…

  10. YOUNGFED says:

Oh and check this article out my boy Rip is sick and tired of being sick and tired. He wants in on the three point contest his comments are hilarious. Yall gotta see this he is so serious

  11. sad but true, and worried says:

the problem with the Spurs? they got off to their best start in franchise history when they clearly do not care about things like that. That and they’re generally a very “old” team now. If they don’t get their s**t together ASAMFP, they will get knocked off playing the #1 seed SUNS in the playoffs. sad but true

  12. Cavs4Kidd says:

No way is Camby in, especially after the way Tyson Chandler dominated him the other night. If the back up center spot in the west doesnt go to Amare, which it will, it should go to Chandler. If there is a wild card spot, David West should make it over him. The Nuggets should not get 3 all stars, when currently they are out of the West playoffs, twos enough. Camby is having a great season, but with Melo and AI in the all-star starting line-up, that ruins Camby’s chances.

  13. Celts Fan says:

Denver would be the biggest impact for Kidd. Imagine Kidd, AI, Melo, and KMart running the break. Wow…

  14. Bust Jlaze says:

Suns can’t see the Spurs in a series, so don’t worry “sad but true…”

Kidd to LA? Dope, but keep Jordan Farmar son! I like giving Odom up for him though, ’cause only thing Odom’s giving us right now is rebounds, and Kidd’ll grab just as much if not more. We need them triple-doubles

  15. Celts Fan says:

    Saw something fantastic last night.
At the end of the 3rd quarter of Celtics Heat, Big Baby’s at the line for the Celtics with less than 10 seconds on the clock and they’re showing the under the basket angle so you can see everyone’s face as the play unfolds. He misses his 2nd shot and Ricky Davis and another Heat player both go up for the ball. Ricky Davis screams, “I got it. I GOT IT!!!” scowls at his teammate as he rips the ball away from him, sprints down the court as fast as he can, stops on a dime, and jacks up a 30 footer with a huge grin on his face as the 3rd quarter ends. They were down 35. Pretty much sums up his career in one play…

  16. Prof. TX says:

Some of the guys on coast-to-coast last night were talking about the Rockets being in contention for Kidd too. NJ is going to want a replacement point guard in return (Houston has like six of them) and some miscelleaneous role players. Yao and T-Mac might be enough star power to lure him there if NJ really wants to send him west and if a Lakers deal doesn’t work out(and assuming Dallas really has dropped out and isn’t just bluffing).

  17. YOUNGFED says:

Cavs4Kidd- you’re allowed 2 reserve centers and I just feel Camby is having a better year even if it’s defensively he’s like Ben Wallace with O.

CeltsFan- I was thinking denver but he’s needed more in Clevland I think but good call.

  18. YOUNGFED says:

AK47-You gotta be kidding me the way Kidd orchestrates the O he’d have Lebron free to do whatever hands down Kidd makes any offense better.

  19. Top Gun says:

Raptors are becoming a 2 man team with Calderon and Bosh. Lately Bosh has been dominating opposing PF. Everytime I check the box scores he puts up 30 plus points.

Camby has to be in the all star game. He rebounds well and I always like to see a nice block. Even though 2 Nuggets are already representing, it doesn’t matter.

Kidd to the Cavs. I’m tired of seeing Lebron run the floor and that’s the reason his team are so dependant on him. Lakers don’t need Kidd as much because Derek Fischer is good enough.

  20. Sith Lord 24 says:

ok i have come to the conclusion that Jose Calderon should be the Toronto starter reguardless if TJ comes back. I was at the Toronto/Washington game last night and Calderon looks like the perfect point for them. he gets buckets and assts and his asst/to ratio is a beast.

the boy is the truth, straight up

  21. YOUNGFED says:

my bad Cavs4Kidd- you’re allowed 1 reserve center and two players at any position. So technically Camby, Amare and Tyson can go but I doubt it.

  22. GEE ...Next time Imma shoot in the one that winks and not the one that stinks says:

Kidd to Denver still wouldn’t work as long as George Karl is coaching lol. Trust.

I am real proud of LeBron for stepping up and making it know, that Clev. needs to try to get Kidd.

Seriously he is so by himself it’s not even funny. Granted there is a side of me that thinks LeBron likes it cause he is the focal point and it just always keeps him as defying odds with that crew he has.

So Kidd would be perfect as a player who is not going to take away from LeBron’s points or shooting (or driving as some would say lol) and he is more than likely still going to give you the rebounds and assist.

Plus he is going to get the other scrubs open for easier shots.

Big plus for Clev. if they get Kidd. I would automatically consider them serious contenders for the ring.

Now If Houston gets Kidd to that is tight because you looking at a dangerous squad on the break, half-court set or whatever.

The biggest question mark there would continue to be Tracy who honestly if he gets Kidd I would have to think his body would heal up mysteriously.

I know loyalty has it’s place. Wade needs to try to bounce now. He has done all that is probably going to be done in Mia. for a while.

How bout the Wiz. doing it without Caron…I will not call him Tough Juice lol. The Wiz. continue to impress. If I am them, I am going after LaMarcus Aldrige.

I was thinking ..what player who is retired outside of money could come back and still drop 20 to 30 consistently.

I am drawing a blank. Sprewell? Hakeem? L.J.? Who?

Bosh needs more help than Calderon. That team is o.k. but they would get sweeped in the playoffs.

LOL the Spurs are looking old. I think this will be there last run, before they dump a lot of players outside the big 3. They need some youth.

What two teams do you all think won’t make it in the West considering 10 have good records.

I am thinking Houston will rally and get that 8th or 7th spot.

Just on a whim I am going to say Golden State and Denver won’t make it.

Dang the West is so stacked! Wade go West!

  23. Brown says:

For anyone who thinks Kidd will go to the Cavs, NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Get your heads on straight. Who the hell do the Cavs have to offer? Remember that they have to give up at least $15 million in return for him. Unless they give up Big Z or Larry Hughes (like someone mentioned earlier), they literally have nothing to attract the Nets. A trade would iclude at least a combination of three of these players:

    Eric Snow
    Drew Gooden
    Donyell Marshall
    Anderson Verajao
    Sasha Pavlovic
    Damon Jones
    Ira Newble

No matter which three players you take, that’s an utterly horrible trade for the Nets.

The bottom line is Kidd will go to the team that offers the best package, not the team who needs him the most.

You can take the Nuggets, Celtics and Magic out of that equation too.

Beyond Nene, the Nuggets have nothing else to offer besides below-average role players. And since Nene is just coming off cancer surgery, nobody’s touching him.

Boston would literally have to trade every single player on their roster outside the big three, so that’s an impossiblity.

And take a look at Orlando’s roster. Outside of their top 3 players, they don’t have anything the Nets would be interested in. It would take a combo of three or four of these players:

    Tony Battie
    Carlos Arroyo
    Pat Garrity
    Keyon Dooling
    Brian Cook
    Keith Bogans
    JJ Redick
    Jameer Nelson
    Mo Evans
    Adonal Foyle

    Not too enticing is it??

Houston has nothing to offer, so they’re out.

I’m not sure who that leaves. The Lakers seem to be the only one able to offer anything decent. Unless a team is willing to give up one of their star players, I don’t see too many possible destinations for Kidd.

  24. Brown says:

    Sith Lord,

This year and last year I’ve been saying that Calderon is better than Ford. If I was Brian Colangelo, I never would have traded Charlie V for Ford, and would have used him to go after a decent center (i.e. Sam Dalembert). They should have drafted either Gay or Roy over Bargnani, but that’s another story altogether. Is it just me, or do people think Colangelo seriously screwed up the Raptors by making these two moves? Neither one has made the team any better. That’s two completely wasted top 10 picks.

  25. pcorcoran says:

Since when is it a “tough road win” when Yao wins @ home? Nice reporting….

  26. YOUNGFED says:

Damn Brown thats a long azz comment dude (LMAO)! However the Cavs could give up Gibson, Varejo, and Gooden for Kidd

  27. home skillet says:

sean elliott has the Spurs back on every single play – EVERY ONE.

It’s a beautiful thing to watch. Tommy Heinsohn is trying to catch up.

  28. Top Gun says:

TJ Ford was a major part of their success last year. Calderon and Ford are two different types of players so opposing teams have to adapt to them. Ford also took over games when Bosh wasn’t performing.

Bargnani is only 22 and has a huge upside and i doubt Philly would’ve traded their starting centre for Charlie V. Their contracts wouldn’t even work, Raptors would have had to add another player.

    Colagenlo is a genius fool.

  29. Top Gun says:

Fred Jones was his only mistake, but he originally wanted John Salmons, which the Kings stole.

  30. home skillet says:

…and Celts Fan, I couldn’t agree more on the Ricky Davis career summary (post# 15)

you don’t even need to know whether he made that shot or not

  31. Celts Fan says:

Tommy Heinsohn is second to NO ONE in homerism. He’s called Big Baby “a rounder Garnett” and once called Tony Allen’s point guard play “magical.” Please apologize to Mr. Heinsohn immediately. He can be found in a dive bar in South Boston working on his second pack of butts and 6th gin and tonic of the day.

  32. isotope says:

Isnt it crazy that as bad as the Nets are they still would make the playoffs if the season ended today?

I don’t like Kidd in Houston because his greatest assets are in fast breaks and catching players cutting. The Rockets outside of Rafer and Aaron Brooks are horrible with both. TMac and Jason Kidd would be nice tho. Houston would probably have to give up Rafer, Luther Head, and/or Mike James to make that happen. Probably Bonzi too. I realy dont see that one happening.

  33. Bron42 says:

wouldnt kidd to the magic be more abusive than kidd to the cavs? hes def a upgrade over jameer and they could give up JJ, the rights to fran vasquez and one of their 5 point guards. kidd, hedo, rashard, dwight could make a push

  34. djKianoosh says:

celts fan that’s hilarious.. but I must add the announcers in DC are right up there in homerism. and that’s not just for bball, but all the major sports teams.

i love it when they get incredulous about a foul not being called on their guys. “ohhh that’s a foul, alright. dont know what he’s looking at.. “

  35. MrBBall says:

“What two teams do you all think won’t make it in the West considering 10 have good records.”

Wasn’t this question on ESPN last night?

  36. Bobby B says:

    @ jz_smoove:
I love to hate the Raptors when they play like they did last night. Grab a fucking defensive rebound! They need a real center that can bang; not a bunch of soft 7-footers.

Heinsohn is definitely the biggest homer ever. I’ve never heard him give props to the opposing team, and I’ve been listening to his “color commentary” since the late 80′s. Does anybody fellate the home team as much as Tommy?

I have League Pass, and satellite channels out the yin-yang, so I can watch all the broadcast games on any given night, and nobody compares to Heinsohn.

  37. str8baller says:

  38. the antoine says:

how come yall dont mention that vujacic put jamal crawford in a straight jacket in the 4th.. the machine did it on both ends…

  39. J Kidd says... says:

Just keep me the f*&% out of here!! After we played G-State and the most athletically gifted player ever in the L’s passes up a non-contest dunk, I was offically ready to bounce.

Vince isn’t just a p$^%$, he has one. I’ve seen it several times in the locker room, it’s not a pretty sight!

  40. T.M.P.B.W.O.T.P. says:

J-Kidd, I don’t think Vince Carter (who’s averaging 20 points, 5 boards and 5 assists — do your research and see how many other players are hitting those numbers) is your problem. It could be the fact that you don’t have any quality big men and your bench is weak.

  41. home skillet says:

    …my apologies to Mr. Heinsohn.

BARTENDER !!! Another G&T over here for my buddy Tommy

  42. Brown says:

Youngfed, that trade still won’t work. You’d need another $2-3 million in there. Plus the Cavs won’t give up Gooden and Verajao and leave themselves with Marshall and Simmons as their only other big men. Plus with Verajao being injured right now, I’m not sure another team would take him.

  43. T.M.P.B.W.O.T.P. says:

Note for anyone trying to do Kidd trade scenarios: The salaries don’t have to match up exactly, they have to be within 10% of each other.

  44. Kobeef says:

    to Brown and Sith Lord

I tend to think that Colangelo is over-rated.

Bargs can shoot the three but is a spot shooter – he can’t make his own shot which is what Dirk does. Also he can’t rebound to save his life. Aldridge would have been a better fit for Toronto (which needs a low-post player) and I also agree that they never should have traded Charlie V for TJ.

Considering the above – the Raps could have had

    C = Aldridge
    PF = Bosh
    SF = Villnueva
    PG = Calderon
    SG = Parker/Delfino

Without a doubt that team would be one of the best young frontcourts in the game with one of the League’s best young PG’s running the show.

Even better – the raps should have traded their 2006 #1 pick to LA for Bynum (which LA would have done in a hertbeat in 2006) and kept Charlie, frontcourt =

    C = Bynum
    PF = Bosh
    SF = Villnueva

This stuff is of course much easier to see in hindsight……

  45. K-Dizzle says:

    Brown
you need to relax on the chicken little raptors review. Colangelo is top 3 execs in the L, but you keep rippin on Bargnani like the team dependin on him. Relax. He’s 22 and in his second yr. Short memory, homie. How was he playin last year before his appendix surgery? According to you, you woulda traded Nowitzki after his first 2 years cuz he was strugglin. You need to check Ford’s numbers too. He’s a starter on at least 10 other teams too. I doubt if the last two picks were wasted.

I don’t know who it was but the dude who said they’d give up Odom for Kidd because Kidd could probably get more boards need to watch games and check numbers. If you a LA fan, you would realize that Odom is more necessary right now cuz Bynum out and we need skilled size and the last thing we need is a past-his prime, 21 mill/ season, no -jumpshot havin/ 39% fg shooter but a good rebounder for a guard point man. Farmar’s stepped up, Fish is solid, JC’s comin up and we run the triangle so Kobe’s really the point anyways.
Stop hatin on LO like he’s a scrub, dude can ball. Most versatile big behind Lebron in the L, IMO.How many bigs can play d,grab a board, bring it up, set up the o, hit a j, post up and most importantly, play with Kobe?

One more thing, like I said yesterday: Vince is averaging the quietest 20-5-4 in the history of the league cuz the numbers don’t contribute to wins. Dude ain’t a winner, he don’t want it. He got his money and now it’s coast time. Anybody even seen Vince on Sportscenter this season? He is the problem. Don’t tell me he playin hard cuz he ain’t.

  46. GEE ...I got 4 on it and will hit you with the other 1 later! says:

I got to give Kidd props. He waited till the seasons half way which gives him time to see what his team was going to do and other teams.

Now he goes the way of it’s not the other players that need to be traded just me. Very political and smooth.

Of course the top teams are going to the be the ones that bargain for him and can bargain because they have the players to trade. Not to mention he is not going to want to go to some sorry $%$ team.

Not to mention he still gets the All-Star nod.

Props to Kidd for doing his thing the smart way.

Another thing that very well may happen is like a three way deal involving Kidd somehow. That would be interesting. What three teams though?

Who will be the next player to get like 10 pts, 10 assist, 10 boards and 10 of something else. If I had to place a bet, I think Camby could do it with having a possible 10 blocks to add. B -Diddy also could do it if he ever got 10 steals.

    That would be tight!

Who was the last player to get quad -dub.?

    Stay healthy Greg Oden lol.

  47. Celts Fan says:

To me, the 4 players with the best chance at a quadruple double are AK47 (steals or blocks along w/ the normal triple dip,) Matrix (with steals or blocks,) KG (with blocks,) or Josh Smith (with blocks.)

  48. Ian says:

    celts
    duncan with blocks
remember the finals vs the nets

  49. T.M.P.B.W.O.T.P. says:

“Anybody even seen Vince on Sportscenter this season? He is the problem. Don’t tell me he playin hard cuz he ain’t.”

So it’s about getting on Sportscenter? That’s the goal now? Because I rarely see Joe Johnson, Josh Howard, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Michael Redd, Al Jefferson, Chris Bosh, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler on Sportscenter either. But I guess that’s because they aren’t playing hard.

  50. K-Dizzle says:

actually the last quadruple-doub was Dave Robinson in 94 with 34, 10, 10, 10 blks

Duncan had “only” 8 blks wit his 21,20 and 10

It ain’t me tellin you, it’s wikipedia lol

    HI everyone…

There is something that I do not understand: Why are dime’s columnists always referring to “color guy”. Being a foreigner and having a different culture, I am not sure to understand what it means. Is that a term to speak about black people? If so, is that ironic? Thanks for being my light…

Also, the Lakers shouldn’t trade Odom, Ariza + Crittenton for an aging whining Kidd… They just have to tell Odom to be more agressive on offense, to remind himself of his early Clippers and Heat days…

  53. K-Dizzle says:

    T.M.P.
My point was, since he got paid, he ain’t be goin as hard, but you sound like you think he’s the truth. I wasn’t even talkin dunk hilights, I meant just doin anything. Last I saw, dude got the ball, down by three, 3 games ago and put up a flatfooted fade 3. Notice how his name don’t even come up when we talkin all-stars or top 20 players in the L.
Believe it or not, one Vince vicious cram could motivate his team to wins.
If you really ain’t seen Al Jeff, Howard, Bosh, Antawn or Caron on sportscenter, then your tv ain’t on cuz they been on. This wasn’t supposed to be an argument, I just thought it was obvious that vince has lost “steps” this season but we all see what we wanna see

    Dominique

“Colour guy” refers to the person’s role in providing running commentary about the game (play by play)…this is also referred to as “colour” because it adds to the broadcast by providing additional insight into the action on the court…it has NOTHING to do with the race of the individual.

  55. Ian says:

    no no no
K DIZZLE i know he had 8 blocks heheh i was saying he has a chance
that is what celts fan mentioned

and i know david was the last … my fav player ever
    THE ADMIRAL

  56. Ian says:

hey comon im not defending vince
    but hes not the prob
maybe its kidd shooting maybe its the lack og big men
maybe its jefferson maybe its the bench maybe its the coach
to many things to say its vince

  57. Dominique says:

Thx a lot Kobeef. I was lost and couldn’t believe what I was thinking…
I am relieved, because Dime is a great mag, and I would have been disappointed to see political views contaminated it.

As for the debate on VC, he clearly does not belong to the great players of the L anymore. The days of Carter the highflying slasher are over, now he is just a deep range whining shooter…

  58. GEE...You been waitin and debatin for oh so long. says:

    color vs. colored

If they said the “Colored” guy then that would probably be what you are thinking Dominique.

Anyway VC is still a very good player. I mean some of you are puttind dude down like you wouldn’t want him “at all”.

Now to say he is the same Vince. Naw but a lot of players have fallen. Some just fall harder. Me personally, I like Vince still and 20, 5 and 5 is always alright with me.

Would I build a team around him at this point. Naw. Would I add him to a team..most def.

As much as I don’t like and can’t stand David Robinson I got to give him his due if he is the last to get a quad-dub. Dang why him? Anyway wow hard to imagine 94 was the last time. I would think by 2004 someone would have at least gotten one. Well if anyone can, we know Kobe possibly could with steals.

I wonder why John Thompson II never tried his hand at being an NBA coach?

I could see him coaching the Celtics right now and really having them super defensive and still doing well.

Would Coach K. make a great nba coach? Based on dudes work with Kobe and the others on the USA squad I would say yes. Then again that is a stacked team.

Even still one has to wonder.

  59. doc says:

I wouldnt want Kidd in a Cavs uni. Get somebody like Bibby who can spot up and hit the J. Bron run the show there anyway so him dribbling the air out the ball and kicking it to Kidd for the open J aint no better than if it was Snow.

  60. Ian says:

    gee
i can understand u dont like robinson
    but cant stand him??? why?

  61. Coldchain says:

No one would ever take Bibby over Kidd. I don’t care if he’s a better shooter.

  62. Gee says:

Ian I always thought dude was overrated.
I also don’t care for his character off and on the court. I feel like he portrays himself one way and acts another depending on the arena.

Anyway that is just me though. I won’t deny dude could play and wow he got the last quad-dub. Amazing!

  63. ??? says:

    3 Babies don’t make 1 Kid

    I mean, 3 Bibby’s can’t equal 1 Kidd.

I totally agree with you Johnny Coldchain

  64. Ian says:

    shit gee
    u hurt me overrated?????
    he is my fav alltime

coldchain id take bibby also just an opinion i cant have a guard that cant shoot
to many bad memories of that in the 90s for me.
