Clueless - hahaha.

There's no way this will happen, just because of Portland. Didn't they just get a new GM with a brain? Honestly, they're giving up a few players who actually have roles on the team for...Devin Harris? I like the guy, but the guys he's getting traded for are almost as good as he is, and younger. Plus the mentioned chemistry issues. Portland would need a big sweetener for this deal to go down. Maybe a draft pick? NJ's, preferably, since it seems NJ is going to be set for a while with the guys they're getting back (or rather, their contracts).

Dallas, though, should do this in a hearbeat. Like Dime said, why not go from being a right-in-the-middle-of-the-pack team to a favorite? The West is a superstar away from being won. No one is dominant, the Spurs seem weak...I just don't know why you wouldn't. The Pistons broke a lot of molds when they won it all, one of them being that they didn't have a clear cut superstar on the team. Besides them, most teams to have won it all had a couple superstars, or maybe even 3. Anyone that can get JKidd should do so. The Lakers, short of trading Bynum, were fools last year.

Brown Orlando does have the enough in contracts and players to get Kidd without having to deal the whole squad. Sure it would make them thinner, but what squad is it not going to thin out that is not trading their top star.
The Nets are not going to necessarily get a fair shake at this point regardless of who they get, but between players, future draft pick and cash they could make out nice this season and still have some good picks on down the road.

It's been said already, but Portland would be crazy to trade Outlaw, Frye and Jack for Bass and Harris. Outlaw is having a breakout season, and they'd be crazy to give him away like that.

They can get a PG somewhere else.

Gee, Kidd ain't going to Orlando. They don't have the prospects or the $15 million in contracts to send them. They'd basically be trading Kidd for Jameer Nelson and a bunch of smaller expiring (some) contracts, and Nelson doesn't seem to be worth the extension he signed that kicks in next season. The Nets ain't gonna trade Kidd for an overpaid, underachieving backup PG, some cap relief and low draft picks. Plus it would make Orlando, a team with little to no depth, even thinner.

Man I don't want Kidd in Dallas but they honestly do have the guys to make the trade.

I think Dallas should keep what they have honestly. They are pretty straight and I just don't see where Kidd is going to make that BIG of a difference.

Myrie I agee with your first thought, it's a nonsense move for all involved.

Kidd should go to Orlando.

Ya, what Kidd wants is irrelevant TO THE NETS, but if you're a team like the Bobcats or TWolves, after seeing him ask out of NJ for not contending, and you're not a contender, why bother? He wouldn't be happy and would be asking out before he ever got there.

Plus, to get a superstar, you typically have to give up young talent, expiring contracts, and draft picks. All of those 3 things are vitally important to a rebuilding team, so it's not worth it to them to do that...

lol @ santana to Nets...

good point Myrie...Kobe's the only one with the "no-trade" clause. Where JKidd wants to end up should be a non-issue with the Nets; do what you gotta do to get the right players back! How did the Mavs even end up in the running? Were the Nets really interested in Stack that much for rebuilding?

I might wrong but who says Kidd can take a team to the chip anymore. People get caught up with yesteryear sometimes. The team he's on stinks and they got Vince and jeffereson. If I was Dallas I wouldnt give up Harris. And Portland better not.

Celtsfan--

I dunno. Sacto is only a few games under .500 and Reggie Theus has done a commendable job. I'm not sure I would make that trade if I'm the Kings. But...'tis just a meaningless rumor.

But them Maloof boys and Geoff Petrie are never satisfied and they always think the team should be better than what they really are.

...there is no law that says NJ must trade Kidd to a contender. In fact, if I were a front office GM and a player wanted out, I'd send his backside to one of the worst teams in the league. And then I'd call his @$$ to ask him how green is the grass over there?

New Jersey needs to get young skill players in return for Jason Kidd. They need to be able to put a winning product on the floor by the time they move to Brooklyn in 2/3yrs.
