You’d have a hard time arguing against the fact that Marcus Camby was the most glaring All-Star snub this year. He has been a MONSTER for the Nuggets and pretty much already has the DPOY wrapped up.
Naturally, there’s reaction everywhere this morning. The Denver Post has Camby’s quick initial reaction:
The NBA’s reigning defensive player of the year continues to reign, averaging more blocks per game (3.8) than any player since 1998-99. And for 11 seasons he never cracked a 12.0 rebound average, but this season he’s at 14.3, best in the Western Conference.
It’s hard to argue that Marcus Camby isn’t an all-star. But the system determined just that.
The list of all-star reserves was announced Thursday. The Nuggets center topped the list of snubs.
“All-Star Games are never going to make or break me — I’d rather win a championship than be an all-star,” Camby said. “But if you ask my teammates and coaches here, they’ll tell you they think I’m an all-star, and that’s all that really matters — the confidence and the trust I have for these people in this organization.”
And check out Nuggets blog The Nugg Doctor for some reaction from the fan’s point of view.

Easily should have made it.
However, I don’t think he locked up DPOY award this season. It is a two man race with Camby and Kevin Garnett.

It’s pretty obvious that the coaches got no love for defense at the all-star game cuz MC is havin an all-star year. i like David West and booze gettin in, but not at the expense of Camby. I think both AI and Melo gettin in hurt him the most cuz they don’t really wanna put 3 Nugs on the team, but I think this year, either them or the Suns coulda had 3

I agree K-Dizzle, they didn’t want to put 3 nuggets in the game, that has to be the easiest thinking around . . .
