The deal is still pending but if there is one fantasy move you should do right now it is to go pick up Boris Diaw. Diaw is the clear-cut fantasy winner if this trade goes down. We all know what Diaw can do if he has big minutes (see two years ago). I wouldn’t expect amazing scoring numbers, but Diaw has the chance to be a legit contributor across the statistical boards. Don’t walk. Run.
As for The Matrix, yes, I think his numbers won’t be as good as they were in Phoenix. But I don’t think the drop off will be huge. Marion still has a great playmaker in Wade and I have to assume the Heat will be off an running more than they have been in the past. Obviously the absence of Nash will affect Marion, but I still believe he’ll be a top 15 fantasy player. In other words, if you own Marion, don’t panic.

How can this deal not go through.
Can you imagine the locker-room atmosphere on both teams if the Suns backed out. I think regardless of what happens with this trade, both Matrix and Shaq will be moved.
I also wonder about Brian Skinner. Shaq has not been able to stay on the floor for long so far this season and Skinner is the only guy other than Amare who can reasonably be a Centre back-up for Shaq.
DJ Strawberry is the other guy who will probably see PT by default…unless they try Barbosa as a PG.

what kind of fantasy league would have diaw as an option to ‘pick up’. i know he is not a stud, but provide us with some insight that will actually help in the fantasy world….or perhaps this fantasy news is for a 6 team league…and not your avg 12 team laegue….perhaps the fantasy news for a 12 plus team league should not be pick up a player that is not likely not available, or that marion numbers will not slip too much (thanks, cuz i was worried that a player that has been very consistent for his career would just drop off)…perhaps the news should be that banks may get a some extra time for the heat, and keep an eye on him….however, i could just be bitter that my fantasy squad is a bottom feeder, and i should keep quite and take the docs advice

He’s owned in about 65% of leagues right now. He should be owned in a 100 until we see how things shake out.

fantasy-wise, i hate this trade, i traded diaw-mobley for daniels-collison since i anticipated that diaw will have a not so good season since g.hill eats up his minutes. also like collison’s rebs and percentages.

Zeek says:
So, Diaw blows up tonight without Marion playing. But how can he have value once Shaq arrives? Amare will take Marion’s PF minutes and Shaq will take Amare’s C minutes, right? How does Diaw benefit?
Not hating. Just looking for the logic…

common sense says that diaw will get small-forward minutes as well as 4-man minutes when they go small……

Why are you talking all night about the Phoenix, the Sun’s, O’Neal ? How about Matrix in Miami, does it means another ring in ‘09..Surely D-wade and Matrix will work just like nash and Amare does. Get a legitimate center in Samuel Dalembert add that to Wade , Matrix , Dalembeast , Wright and Haslem . WOW ! underrated but effective…Miami for life !
