Sheed In, KG Out

Though ‘Sheed admitted he’d rather spend the All-Star break relaxing with his family, he has to cancel his vacation to “somewhere nice” to fill KG’s spot up front on the East’s roster. Doc Rivers originally pegged Ray Allen as the logical replacement to Garnett, but conceded that David Stern’s nomination of Wallace makes sense.

“With losing Kevin at the forward spot, it makes sense to replace him with a forward,” said Rivers to the Boston Globe. “[Wallace] is well-deserving and one of the guys I voted for in the first place.”

‘Sheed is the third Piston heading south for the festivities. And that might just be the only reason that he’s making the trip. According to Flip Saunders, his motivation to be an All-Star is to get behind Rip in the three-point shootout.

“The only part of him that might be happy is he’ll be able to go down there and help Rip win that three-point contest,” Saunders said to the Detroit Free Press, then imitating the strange way Wallace yells “5-4-3-2-1″ each time Hamilton practices for the contest. “I don’t know. ‘Sheed’s tough to figure out. I think anytime you’re selected to do something like that, you should feel good about yourself. It is an honor to go as an All-Star.”

“This time I’ll go for the kids,” Wallace said. “I guess once I get older or out of the game, they can look back on it and check it out.”

Sheed will bring flavor to the ASG, as one of the truly unique players in this league. He’s also freakin hilarious!
