Have you seen Nike’s new ads for the Air Zoom Kobe III? The kid from “All of Us” and a white-haired Kobe put it down in this one. The theme of the campaign is that Mamba is a basketball genius. And is that rim like 8-feet high or what?

I dunno.. I always felt that the main reason that Kobe (and LeBron too, for that matter) hasn’t been and will never be as big as MJ is that he can’t make commercials like his airness. I thought that moving from Adidas to Nike would help his cause, but that doesn’t seem to be the case thus far.. The genius campaign he’s currently on are decent, but nobody’s gonna remember these like they do with some of Jordan’s old commercials..

Kobe straight jacked the Chapelle show episode where Dave C plays Prince and the Revolution take on Charlie Murphy. The hanging from the rim in that skit when Prince dunks is classic, Kobe is killing it with allusions to Dave Chappelle.
Peep the skit and then check out this Kobe vid.
I need Nike money.

I would like to see Kobe as a new generation genius, say as Stephen Hawking dunking from a wheelchair, or perhaps a brilliant musician/thespian from the modern era…in my village, when we think entertainment, we think Hasselhoff.
I must go now I have diarrhea.

anyone who knows hoops, knows KB24 and Tim Duncan had a brilliant Sprite ad in 96. Comparisons with MJ need to stop at a point. Mamba brings his own swag and his own demeanor. These commercials are a big boost to his image. I’m diggin’ em’, and I’m diggin’ Kobe right now…
