30-Day Return Policy

Jerry Stackhouse wasn’t ever going to leave Dallas. Even though he was part of the now chilly trade for Jason Kidd, the Nets planned to buy Stack out immediately. After sitting out for 30 days, he would have re-signed with the Mavs.

The 34-year old veteran liked the idea of getting some time off before a playoff push. “I get 30 days to rest, then I’ll be right back,” Stackhouse told The Associated Press. “I ain’t going nowhere.”

Perhaps he liked that idea too much – his premature comments alerted the League to the Mavs’ intentions. Now the League won’t allow Stackhouse to return to Big D if he is traded and bought out.

“The Mavericks, whose locker room could be in shambles if the Kidd deal doesn’t go through, are desperately seeking other alternatives,” writes Chris Broussard. “They are looking at replacing Stackhouse and George in the trade with Trenton Hassell and Keith Van Horn.”

“But a person with knowledge of the talks said the Nets are leery of taking Hassell because he has two seasons, worth a total of $8.6 million, remaining on his contract after this season.”

“The source added that while other teams, most notably Cleveland and Denver, are pursuing Kidd, there is no other “realistic” destination out there, and that Kidd would most likely remain with the Nets if nothing can be worked out with Dallas.”

    stackhouse is stupid…crackhouse.

  3. Mike says:

Cleveland and Denver do not have the right expiring contracts to make this work. NJ wants either young talent or cap space. Very few teams can provide that. I suppose Kidd will be staying in NJ…

  4. doc says:

Kidd aint win shit in 5 years anyway. Dallas dont need him.Cleveland better off gettin Lowry and Mike Miller. Let him stay in Jersey and keep gettin his 10 10 and 10

  5. jnuh says:

I hope the trade doesn’t go through & he’s stuck with Wince for the rest of the year.

I’m sick of the whole ‘trade me to a contender’ revolution – here’s an idea, fucking get there yourself. And if you can’t, then go ahead & cry yourself to sleep on your many millions of dollars.

  6. kobeef says:

    jnuh – I second that

To all those maxed-out-contract players who complain about being on a losing team:

“we gave you $20 freakin’ million a year because you were supposed to carry this team….so stop crying and play like you are paid”

  7. bigJax says:

you want out? fine, let the team void your fatass contract and everyone can walkaway happy.

  8. f6 says:

    jnuh, i 3rd that.

if a players main goal is to you be on a winning team(to win the title) take less money so they a team can put other quality players around you…..
