A Taste of New York

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONDylan Roberts

As the Knicks desperately shop Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry with only hours until the trade deadline, here are some scraps from the New York media about the duo’s possible destinations:

From the New York Post

“The trade values of Curry and Randolph have fallen so sharply it would seem difficult to make a major trade involving them that makes sense,” writes Marc Berman. “You couldn’t trade Curry today for a dozen chocolate-frosted donuts.”

From today’s New York Daily News

“A Nuggets source indicated Wednesday night that the Knicks were considering a deal for Brazilian forward Nene, who recently began light workouts one month after surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his right testicle,” writes Frank Isola. “Denver was also trying to make a deal for Sacramento’s Ron Artest. Nene was originally drafted by the Knicks before being traded to Denver along with Marcus Camby for Antonio McDyess.

Also, a league source told The News that the Bucks’ owner, Milwaukee Sen. Herb Kohl, yesterday rejected a trade that would have sent Randolph and either Fred Jones or Jared Jeffries to Milwaukee for a package including Bobby Simmons, Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric, who all have long-term contracts.”

From today’s Newark Star Ledger

“The deals floated on the internet about Vince Carter got Rod Thorn‘s attention yesterday,” writes Dave D’Alessandro, “and they were just outlandish enough to get the Nets president to flatly deny it with the trade deadline pending at 3 p.m. today.”

“We’re not going to move him. Not before the trade deadline, anyway,” Thorn said of Carter. “I’m not saying we’ll never move anybody, but we’re not going to move him (now).

“I read a trade today that we’re going to give him to the Knicks. If we were trying to do something with our cap, then maybe you consider it. But it’s nothing we never even talked about. Someone’s floating some trial balloon there.”

“Thorn added that his team is not likely to make another move today (“We’ve got nothing going on right now”), and other Nets officials — who cannot be identified because they don’t speak for the club — said the team is out of the running for both Mike Miller and (by choice) Jermaine O’Neal.”

i personally cant wait until all the surprises are out of the bag, the trade deadline this year hopefully brings in more business for Fedex and UPS. The East need to do some noise as well.

Nothing is going on for the Knicks.
