(Almost) Daily Fantasy

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONT.J. is back (Photo. Eriberto Oriol)

As always, leave your fantasy questions in the comments box.

Leon Powe - KG is out for the week and if you need a forward, Powe isn’t a bad short term option. My guess for the averages for the week? 11 points and 7 boards.

T.J. Ford - Welcome back TJ Ford. Ford should suit up and ball this week. Calderon will remain the starter but we’ve seen Ford put up nice numbers in short stints. I’d probably bench him for this week and hope his minutes are up to 25 per game for next week.

Elton Brand and Gilbert Arenas - Both are doing real basketball activities and although both think they’ll be back late February/early March, we’re guessing Brand gets back first sometime very early March or late February. If you held onto them tough, you are definitely going to reap end of year benefits.

Desmond Mason - Mason is back and is an intriguing pick up. He wasn’t exactly killing when he got hurt, but he came back on Saturday and immediately played 23 minutes. I’d keep an eye on him.

Pau Gasol - Looks like Gasol is good to go and should be in your starting line up.

Chris Kaman - Still questionable, Kaman has missed 5 straight. That hurts. He’s active in my line up, but I’m not willing to cut anyone to make room for a bum center.

Hakim Warrick - I’ve been getting a good amount of grief for not including him in my post-trade fantasy analysis, but I’m just not a big Warrick fan because of his lack of shot-blocking ability. Surprisingly, Warrick didn’t get the start the other night (Navarro did), though he did play 24 minutes off the bench and go for 14 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks. I find it hard to believe the consistency will be there.

Stro Show - The Stro Show is moving to New Jersey and could benefit from playing with Jason Kidd. That is, for the time Kidd is on the Nets. Stro’s been at his best when he’s running the floor and catching oops and that’s Kidd’s thing. Worth watching but not claiming.

    Doc,

I’ve got a question about a trade. I’ve been offered KEVIN MARTIN and RICHARD JEFFERSON for my HEDO TURKOGLU and ANDREI KIRILENKO. Our head-to-head league counts FG%, FT%, PTS, RBS, AST, BLK, and STL.

How do you feel about this offer?

  2. AT2 says:

    hey doc
im in a h2h league containing FT%, Fg%, Pts, rebs, ast, block, stls, and 3PTM.
is it a good deal if i got yao out of brad miller and gomes?
will i get the benefit of the doubt out of yao for the rest of the season?

Jah - It’s an interesting deal. Kirilenko is obviously the wild card. He clearly hasn’t played as well in the last month or so, but he is the one guy in this trade that gives you different categories. He’s averaging almost 5 dimes, 2 blocks and over a steal a game. He’s such an across the board contributor. That being said, you’re getting more than 10 points a game that you weren’t getting before. You probably don’t lose field goal percentage because Jefferson and Martin shoot more shots combined than Kirilenko and Hedo. It really depends on what else you have. You’re losing on most categories from the deal but you do make a huge dent in points.

AT2 - You got Yao for Brad Miller and Gomes? GREAT deal. Way to deal both Miller and Gomes at the best possible time. Dude who you traded with should be booted from your league.

    hey doc,

need your guys opinion on a trade I did. I gave up pau and boone for big z and kmart. I know im giving up the best player here but i thought his move to L.A with cause his numbers to dip a bit as he has to adjust with not having the ball much and not being the center of the offense. Boone’s value is going to go down once jkidd gets traded and he just kills me with his FTs.

For the two that I get back I see both capitalizing on the injuries that their respective teams have right now. Camby and Nene are both out for denver and varejao for the cavs.

  5. camanda says:

Hey, Kirilenko isn’t playing tonight! Did he get traded? I watched the whole Utah game the other night and he never appeared hurt, and yet I don’t see him on the bench tonight.

  6. The Fantasy Doctor says:

Hot Dog - You made the trade so do you really want me to tell you what I think? I’m not such a fan of the deal. I don’t trust K-Mart’s health or inconsisteny, don’t trust Big Z’s age factor, and think Gasol will be a very consistent source of points, boards, field goal percentage and blocks.
That being said, it’s done so don’t think about it another second!

Camanda - AK has the flu.

  7. hotdog says:

good advice doc, wont even dwell on it for another second.

this flu bug sucks i have AK on two my leagues dang

I’ve been offered this trade in a head-to-head (total points) KEEPER league. Deron for AI2. Thoughts?

    1 pt for: BLK,STL,PT,AST,REB
    -1 pt for: TO
