From the Crypt
The Pistons clearly could have signed Chris Webber before he rejoined forces with Nellie. When they passed on C-Webb, it was conceivable that they were content with their frontline of ‘Sheed, Maxiell, McDyess and Brezec. But we now know the truth. After cutting Flip Murray on Friday, it seems as though Joe Dumars is going to wrestle Dale Davis from the crypt to bolster Detroit’s bigs.
Even though Amir Johnson has been making some impressive strides since making it off of Flip‘s bench, Davis is reportedly rejoining his former team from his current outpost in Atlanta.
But do the Pistons really need to fortify their presence on the glass? Even with the Diesel grabbing 11 rebounds, Phoenix was totally powerless against Detroit on the boards. The Pistons outrebounded the Suns 48-32 on Sunday. In fact, they’ve outdone four of their last five opponents on the glass by a margin of 11.2 rebounds per game.

The only read reason that I believe the Pistons are going to make this move would be to bolester their already tough frontline. They realize that Amir Johnson is still a kid and that even though his play has been better than expected, he may need advice and help and Dale Davis offers that whole verteran leadership thing. Also it makes their deep bench deeper and I think accelerates the development of it. The Pistons are a scary team, I honestly dont know if anyone besides Boston can beat them this year in a 7 game series. Orlando, Cleveland & Toronto have a chance especially now that Cleveland has Big Ben and he seems happier but it definately wont be as easy as Lebron made it look last season

Hm, you don’t think the Lakers have a shot at these guys in a 7 game series? The Spurs would be helpless in the face of Dale Davis muscling his way around the court?
I know the Pistons are having a great regular season, but I’ve seen this show before…the last two regular seasons, in fact. Then their offense chokes up come late May.
