You’re right. Kobe would be over 40% in threes like the rest of them, if all he had to do was spot up in a corner and launch only on wideopen looks. As a matter of fact, I think Kobe will win the contest going away. I’ve seen him at shootarounds before Laker games a lot and he’s an incredible shooter when two or three guys aren’t rushing at him every time he touches the ball.

Kinda off topic, but this is bugging me…

Why so much hate from people about Kobe getting to the 3-point shootout? Sure he shoots threes at less than 35%, but that’s during the game where he is usually double/triple teamed and/or launching an off-balance buzzer-beater. Of course his percentage is going to be lower than a spot-up shooter who is usually getting wide-open looks. Anyone who has seen his turnaround fadeaway fall-out-of-bounds threes understands that the guy can SHOOT.

Not trying to be on Kobe’s jock, but some people sound like they don’t know anything about this game.
