Theo Flurry
Theo Ratliff (Photo. adidas)P.J. Brown signing with the Celtics — and the open roster spot being saved for Sam Cassell — prevents 34-year-old Theo Ratliff from becoming the latest vet to latch onto the Boston ring-chasing campaign. So after being waived by Minnesota yesterday and the waiver-wire waiting period, Theo is expected to sign with the Pistons.
Whereas Cassell’s $6.1 million salary could conceivably be taken up by another contender who feels they really need him (or just doesn’t want Boston to get him), Ratliff is a lock to clear waivers with his $11.6 million price tag. When he does clear waivers, he’ll sign with Detroit for $1.3 million.
Theo’s only played in 10 games this year, averaging 6.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. If he can stay healthy, he gives the Pistons that much more depth in their front court and another body to throw at guys like Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett and Zydrunas Ilgauskas in the East, and if the Pistons make the Finals, Shaq, Duncan, Boozer or Gasol.

GEE... I taught Spec Ed for 24K a year. And this clown with a suspect dribble isn’t happy with his 10 mill. F him says:
NO, NO, NO! If Houston and Mr. Morey were smart they would be offering him so much to try and get him. Yao just went down and it makes so much more sense for Houston to try and get this dude. I promise the Rockets are pissin me off this year! Still a fan but they really pissin me off!

Austin Burton says:
If Ratliff’s truly after a ring, he won’t take Houston’s offer (unless it’s a ridiculous amount of money).

great pickup. Theo has way more left in his tank than Dale Davis.

would anyone have the sack to grab Cassell when he’s made it clear he wants to go to Boston? he’s a strong-willed guy as it is. do you really want him pissed you stopped him from going where he wanted?
Ratliff to Detroit’s a good move if he can actually get on the court…

Yea AB that is what I am saying, they need to go just a tad bit ridiculous to get him. Wasn’t that some of the reason of releasing Bonzi and James, so the team would have money to go after cats.
I agree if he wants a ring Detroit is the way to go. He probably would get way more tick in H-town though.
What other free agents are available at the 4 and a half to 5 spot?

Nick Barnes says:
If Houston had the cap room, they should go after Emeka Okafor. Think about it: He could be the PF to Yao’s C, doing the rebound/defense thing while Yao scores, and he’d probably take less money to go to a team that actually has a chance. But the problem is, he’s a restricted FA, so if he signed with Houston for like $8 million the ‘Cats would match it and get him for cheaper than the $10 million-plus he wants. Oh well. Still, seems like Houston would be a great fit for Okafor.

YOUNGFED says:
Gee, theres always Dale Davis (LMAO). Nick, Okafor ain’t going nowhere. Also could someone please tell me WHY IN THE HELL!!…didn’t Flip play Amir. Dude is the worst coach ever he never adapts and plays his 5 no matter what like he’s scared of them. Thats why we got our asses handed to us by Utah and Mishap…oops thats Millsap. How do you praise a Guy (Amir) one day and the make him DNPCD the next. Fuq FIRE ISIAH it should be FIRE FLIP none coaching azz.

cuz amir shows flashes of talent but then does a bunch of dumb stuff just as quick and sinces hes on a nice team, him screwin up slows the rest of the vets down. he would only get alot of burn if he was on some crappy team the way rudy gay does so he could screw up and it really wouldnt effect the outcome

If Amir Johnson’s the reason the Jazz beat the Pistons, then the pistons are in trouble. Maybe if someone got out on Okur, it coulda been different

Dale Davis is strong if nothing else lol. Still I would prefer taller and a more offense oriented.
Young I wouldn’t get Flip out of there like that. Come on now you got to put some loyalty down with him, I mean he has them boys playing well and puts them in the right spot to win more times than not.
Emeka to Houston… naw I ain’t feeling that. Perhaps down the road but I am talking right now. We got money and need to use it. Don’t get me wrong I love Deke and he is hilarious and fun to watch (hope one of his random elbows don’t catch Tracy …cause then we lose him for the season too lol), but we need a better passer and scorer at the 5. I know you ain’t gone replace what Yao gives, but at least someone to give half of that.

Juanito says:
Amir was ill, otherwise he obviously would have played. Don’t worry fellas, he’s in the rotation for good now. I think he has even more upside than Maxiell eventually. Great hops, and difficult to control around the rim going after loose balls. He’s good a Rodman-like energy out there.

I didn’t think Theo was alive anymore. I haven’t heard about Theo the person in about 15 months. Theo’s contract is always in the news though.
