1-on-1 Tournament: Division Finals (West)

Chris Sembrot)At some point, when the Northwest Division semifinal round — in particular the Brandon Roy versus Allen Iverson matchup — was approaching a ridiculous amount of attention, some readers accused others of the online version of stuffing the ballot box. So we put our investigative team on it (well, it was just Austin, who took the assignment ’cause of something about injustices anywhere being injustices everywhere or something), and after filtering through the duplicate IP addresses, got the most legit results we could possibly get.
With that out of the way, here are the rules as we get closer to the finals: Straight 1-on-1, make it-take it, games to 11 (by ones and twos), all hypothetical. The six division winners will advance to the finals, with two of them getting a bye, just like the NFL playoffs. Vote in the comments section to determine the Western Conference winners:

I agree with everyone about going on strike! There is no way in hell Brandon Roy gets that many votes over Iverson, I don’t care what nobody says. Riddle me this: How is it that that one tournament got the most votes out of all the votes casted during this entire tournament? Because people were up in there hating a bull sh*tting thats why. Iverson is the one that helped Brandon Roy get into the All-Star game…if it wasn’t for AI getting voted in by the fans, Roy wouldn’t have gotten that reserve spot. I’m not sure why everyone thinks AI would kill Roy, it isn’t as if Iverson is some defensive stud. Same with Melo. Dime you guys have to regulate this because this is beyond ridiculous and its terribly obvious. Every match that Roy’s in has more votes than any other post. This post came 2 days after the other finals and it already has over 100 more posts. I love BRoy as much as the next guy and I cant wait to see him shine in the future and take home some MVP’s but realistically I dont believe Roy would beat AI THAT BADLY. It wont happen. Nor would he be blowin Melo despite that nice block. Dime regulate the Roy spammers please, this contest was slightly crooked to begin with but now its just not right. Now I kno how Al Gore felt

Hmm i wonder why, its not like this competition is all that important, if anything it just casts a bad image on Roy. All this campaigning for him makes him look bad in my opinion while that isnt the case, he’s quite possibly one of the nicest dudes in the NBA

ok, ok, so somebody posted on a Blazers site that this vote was going on. I can understand how that slants this vote. But to all of you who say that this makes Roy look bad? Are you serious? First of all, I highly doubt he had anything to do with this. Second, he has never been one to seek personal glory. And third, him beating AI or Carmello is not completely ridiculous. He isnt as famous as either one of them, but to say he wouldnt be competitive is absurd.

Kobe - (Not my favorite player, but would not lose to any player listed here one-on-one. The guy can do it all.)
McGrady - (Backs Paul down low and scores everytime. Too much size and strength advantage for Chris to deal with. Paul is awesome but unless he hit every shot, he wouldn’t stand a chance.)
Roy - (Could be close with Melo, but his better defense makes him my pick. As for Roy over AI, it’s the same situation as McGrady over Paul. Roy could back Iverson down and score everytime. Come on Iverson lovers! Have any of you even played one-on-one before. It’s not going to be an outside shooting game for these guys who have huge heighth and strength advantages. I like Iverson, but he would get dominated by Roy in every catagory except outside shooting and quickness, where he possibly has a slight advantage on Roy.)

SOUTHWEST
Chris Paul vs. Tracy McGrady - Tracy McGrady. I really like CP, but T-Mac has too much going for him in this one. The only way CP wins is if T-Mac gets injured (which is completely possible).
NORTHWEST
Carmelo Anthony vs. Brandon Roy - Melo. I’m one of the dudes who took Roy over AI; so you know I like Roy’s game. Melo has the size advantage and is a straight up scorer.
