(Almost) Daily Fantasy

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONJosh Childress (Photo. Goodrich)

With my league’s playoffs starting next week, my decision to hold out for the return of Elton Brand certainly doesn’t look good. He clearly won’t play next week and although he continues to practice and say that he wants to play this season, he is most likely not going to play one fantasy minute for me, or anyone else. So Josh Childress (and his 7-minute, 3-foul performance) is it for me for my 4th forward spot. Right? Maybe not. The trade deadline has past but let’s take a look at what options are out there for forwards right now.

Charlie Villanueva - Finally Villanueva is putting up the numbers that he’s capable of. He has three straight 20-point performances and is playing his way back into both real life and fantasy value. He’s a prime candidate for a pick up.

Chris Webber - Great signing G-State. C-Webb missed his 6th straight game. Did anyone really think that Webber was going to work or even stay healthy on the running Warriors? Don’t keep him for another second.

Nene - This is an interesting one. Nene is working out and doing drills but is probably a couple weeks from the Nuggets determining if he can get back on the court. Even if he does return, the minutes probably won’t be there this season to give him any value.

Hakim Warrick - If you read this column, you know I’m not a huge fan of Warrick. He’s had his good moments though. Now, with Rudy Gay possibly missing a little bit of time, Warrick should get strong minutes and decent production the rest of the way.

Jerry Stackhouse - He’s a free agent in our league, qualifies as a forward, and is now starting (at shooting guard albeit) for the Mavs. Stack doesn’t need a whole lot of minutes to produce (he had 10 and 6 in only 18 minutes last night), but the numbers still haven’t been consistent enough even with the starting nod.

Thaddeus Young -
I’m a big Thad Young fan, especially for the future. Starting or coming off the bench, Thad is producing solid, but not exceptional numbers. He has 6 straight double digit scoring games and his minutes are pretty consistently above the 25 minute mark. I’d still probably take Childress over him.

    Doc,

TJ Ford or Jose Calderon? I got them both but I don’t know what to do with them? When one struggles, the other does well. Should I drop one and pick up Steve Blake? or do you think there is another alternative?

    Doc,

What’s the deal with Kaman, is there a chance the Clips shut him down for the year on me? He’s my only center in 2 leagues. Do I need to scramble for a backup?

Also, I’ve been holding on to Agent Zero in my roto league all along. Since he’s been out I’ve boosted my team FG% and taken the lead in the league. Is there any reason to hope for better than 39% FG% from him, if he indeed does make it back in time to matter?

Keep the Toronto guards if Steve Blake is your only other option, He isn’t aggresive enough.

    Doc-

I HATE when people come on here to bash u, (nobody’s putting a gun to their head to visit the site) but dude -YOU HAVENT RESPONDED TO ANYONE your last 4 or 5 posts. I love the insight, but if you’re not gonna get a chance to respond, dont tell us to leave comments/questions.

That being said - could you rank the value of these players for a team looking for PTS & possibly help with %’s, 3’s or REBS: Carl Landry, Thad Young, Rashad McCants, Stackhouse, Matt Carroll, Pietrus….even just a few thoughts on those players would be cool

I hope you dont mind the constructive criticism, I’m a big fan of yours…peace
