BREAKING NEWS: Dwyane Wade Out for the Rest of the Season

After battling left knee pain all season, which has made it difficult for Dwyane Wade to get out of bed at times, the Heat superstar has officially ended his ‘08 campaign. With 21 games to go and the Heat going into full on tank mode at 11-50, Wade made the expected announcement earlier than anticipated.

So now, Wade will turn to therapy in hopes of getting his knee back to top form.

Later this week, he’ll undergo OssaTron treatment — a high-tech, high-powered form of shock wave therapy. The non-surgical procedure lasts about 30 minutes, and afterward, Wade will be limited to passive exercise for the first 30 days. After that, he may return to basketball-related activity.

“The knee will be hit with shock waves, electrical shock waves,” Riley said. “It’s actually a pretty painful procedure.”

Without Wade, could the Heat feasibly finish the season tied for the second worst record in NBA history? They’ve actually already surpassed the atrocious ‘72-73 Sixers who went 9-73. But if Miami loses out from here forward, they could tie the ‘92-93 Mavs at the 11-win plateau. They could still end up in the top 3 all time if they finish with 12 wins, thereby tying the ‘97-98 Nuggets and the ‘86-87 Clippers.

Shawn Marion gets to be the man just like he wanted.
All eyes on you now Shawn.

  2. E $ says:

    good job riley

  3. srk says:

Wade needs to take care of his knee & now Shawn will be the man- wonder if he doesn’t miss the Suns just a little?

  4. Celts Fan says:

Miami’s only job now is to convince Marion to not opt out (or to resign when he does) and stay long-term w/ Dwyane and Beasley/Rose/whoever they get

  5. Prof. TX says:

Marion should opt out this summer and sign one year with Phoenix for the veteran minimum. He definitely doesn’t need anymore money, but it would be his best chance at a ring. They’d have the best starting five in the league.

Will never happen, greed and pride trump everything in the league, but it would be interesting.

  6. E$ says:

would you show up to work if the power was off in the building? Smart move D.Wade

  7. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

    Hello Mike Beasley.

  8. Kobeef says:

What is most suprising about this is that you could still make the argument that it killed their playoff hopes.

Technically, if Miami won from here out and Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta lost they could STILL make the playoffs….HOW SAD IS THAT. At present, New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta are fignting for the last playoff seed with 25 and 26 wins and 35 + losses….brutal.

  9. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

I don’t want to jump to conclusions but D-Wade could be the next Grant Hill. Star with seemingly unlimited potential falling victim to the injury plagued career. I know it’s too early to say that but dude is falling off fast.

  10. dagwaller says:

    Good post, Myrie.

  11. YallAllReadyKnow says:

who is this clown myrie and why is dagwaller on its nuttsack today

  12. Striz88 says:

is dwade the next penny or the next grant hill?

  13. João says:

No, neither penny or hill won a title and MVP of the finals ,,, give me a finals mvp with a lot of injury problems and them you can match with wade ( I cant remenber anybody )Parker, Billups, Duncan, Shaq, Jordan, Olajuwon, Magic, Bird, Thomas ,,,

  14. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

I think the Penny/ Grant Hill reference is a close one even though those guys never won titles or were finals MVPs. You can still compare two players on skill and potential without having to compare awards and titles. Wade had a great year in the 2006 finals but so did Dennis Johnson in 79′ and Cedric Maxwell in 81′. Those guys both won titles and MVPs in those years. Nobody would equate their careers on the level of Jordan, Duncan, Magic, Bird, etc.

Penny could’ve/should’ve been a a much better player than he ended up being. Hill is considered by some a great player or Hall of Famer (as Dime has debated) although his career hasn’t been what it could’ve been. I think what Striz88 and I are implying is that Wade could be one of these type players that is an elite player at one point in his career but ends up falling short of what could be a long and prosperous career with a resume of many regular season and post season awards.

  15. doc says:

Shaq left Penny and Grant aint have one thats the difference.Aint shit wrong with Wade but his pride he just want a excuse for getting his ass handed to him every night.

  16. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

Good point Doc. The question is whether Wade is really injured or is he just throwing in the towel on an awful season like Pat Riley seems to be doing?

  17. YallAllReadyKnow says:

dwyane wade ain’t nothing like penny or grant hill. penny missed fulls seasons and so did grant hill. wade hasn’t. unlike them, wade played hurt injured and less than 100 pct.
them two other bums just quit and gave up on their careers. and grant hill is the worst case. he aint suit up for orlando but 5 times in six years, now all of a sudden he’s healthy and playing mad minutes in phoenix. how do you figure that? and to boot, hill had a SPRAINED ankle for 5yrs!! are you kidding me? his ankle was never diagnosed as cracked or broken; look it up.
penny blew out his knee, so that pasrt i understand. but still they both raped their teams for mad money and never tried to play.
wade hasn’t missed a full season and at least up until this point he tried to play.
penny is weak and grant is a sneaky puss.
how come grant hill couldn’t play like this last yr for orlando?

  18. yoda says:

In March 2003, Hill underwent a major surgical procedure in which doctors re-fractured his ankle and realigned it with his leg bone. Five days after the surgery was performed, the unexpected happened: Hill developed a 40.5 °C (104.5-degree) fever and convulsions. He was immediately rushed to a hospital. Doctors removed the splint around his ankle and discovered that Hill had developed a staph infection, from which he nearly died. He was hospitalized for a week and had to take intravenous antibiotics for six months.

nasty case of sprained ankle, huh?

  19. AB_40 says:

I had that shock therapy it doesn’t hurt that much. Only if you have a real tear in your meniscus then it hurts at least that’s what the therapist said. Kinda f’d up though that at 26 he’s already having so much injury problems

  20. 2 Easy says:

This should have never lasted this long. Wade should have been shut down well before the all star break but nooo Riles wouldnt let his pride allow it nor Dwade. Hopefully he gets back to 100 percent but if not he’s already accomplished a lot

  21. dh says:

d wade should train with allen iverson. they both get beat up every game but ai is still killin’ people. how has he lasted this long? will he ever get tired? dudes got some good trainers or somethin.
