Bruce Bowen Suspended
It’s over. For kicking Chris Paul in San Antonio’s loss to the Hornets on Wednesday, Bruce Bowen was suspended for one game by the League. Bowen will miss tonight’s road game against the Pistons, which ends his streak of 500 consecutive games without a DNP.
We’ve got two clips of the play: The first is from the Hornets’ broadcast, which is of course titled “Bowen kicks Paul.” The second is from the Spurs broadcast, naturally titled, “Chris Paul punches Bruce Bowen.”

What suprises me most about this is that the league allows Bowen to stick his leg under a guy when he’s taking a jump shot, but they suspend him for this. Paul didn’t even catch a blow from him, just a little contact. Are they suspending him on intent? If they are, they’re sending the wrong message. He’s done way worse and the league has turned a blind eye to it.

It’s about time Bowen get called out on his bullshit ways. I like his defense but sometimes he’s just out of hand. It’s a shame though that it ends his streak in this way. I would’ve just fined him with no suspension.

bowen does cheap little things like this that are dirty. i don’t know if he deserves to be suspended for this. he should be warned and possibly fined everytime he sticks his legs out when contesting shots. how many players have landed on his foot and have also called him out on it.

kick Bowen out of the league, let his replacement (Udoka) get some PT, and save the ankles of everyone else. He’s gonna seriously hurt someone one time. This should be 10 games on principle, with a stern message that the next time he does the foot under you as you’re jumping routine, that it’s a $100,000 fine and loooooong suspension…

At least this starts to establish a history of punishment. That way, every time from now on just adds to a history that is starting to get officially recognized. Next time they can say he’s already been warned and be more strict.

I completely agree wit Brown’s comment. I dont think anyone noticed that Paul attempted to hit him and in my opinion CP isnt the cleanest player out there (see his crotch punch vid if u doubt me) and I dont think this warranted a suspension, wats he’s done to Ray, Wince and KB have though

Gotta confess, I just don’t like Bowen. Just a suspicion that he’s been drawing a good NBA paycheck for years, for being nothing more than a dirty #$%*.
I think the NBA should look into Bowengate — just how many players has he tried to injure over his “career”? — and think about revoking SA’s championships in which he played any part.
