China Flow

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONThe LeBron V

Before this past summer’s NBA Draft, one of the points that made Yi Jianlian so interesting was that he came up on the playgrounds, as opposed to the government-monitored development that was Yao‘s upbringing. When you watch Yi play though, he doesn’t exact bowl you over with a style born on the streets.

Xu Yong oozes street flair that you just really don’t ever see from Chinese-born ballplayers. He’s one of the top videos on the BeBetterThanLeBron site today, with a highlight mix that has the 6-8, 18-year old forward just cramming all over his comp as a member of the Shanghai Sharks. True, the talent level doesn’t look very good, but he shows flashes of having some stuff to his game. And we love the jump-stop, two-handed dunk in the lane followed by flexing that caps off the vid.

And, as always, if you want a shot at a pair of LeBron V kicks, email a video clip of your favorite “Be Better Than LeBron” candidate. The best video we receive every week will get hooked up with brand new sneakers. Send your video links to submissions@bebetterthanlebron.com.

  1. Celts Fan says:

I trust Chinese basketball players’ age as much as I do Cuban baseball players’ or Dikembe Mutumbo’s. If they say 18, it’s 27.
