CP3 for MVP

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONCP3 (photo. David Deal)

The Hornets management is using cyberspace to make the case that Kobe and LeBron aren’t in a two-horse race for MVP. In all fairness, Chris Paul has been nothing short of incredible this season, clearly separating himself from the League’s point guards. But can anyone argue with what Kobe and LeBron have done with far less convincing supporting casts?

But if you’re on the baby-faced assassin’s bandgwagon, head over to CP3MVP.com and make the short video explaining why he’s the MVP. Not only will you earn 15 seconds of fame, but if a panel of judges thinks yours is the best, you can win limo service to meet CP3 before sitting in two floor seats to watch N.O. decimate the Clippers.

  3. Gregg says:

CP3 has been putting Issiah Thomas in his prime stats.

    It’s all about K-HOVA!!!!

I been saying It all season, that boy is gonna be MVP if my vote counted it would be CP3 all day long, 2nd Bron, close 3rd KB24.

If you seriously consider CP3 as a viable MVP candidate you have to consider others as well…..D-Wills numbers are pretty much the same as CP3 and he has led his team to a record similar to CP3s. The only difference is that D-Will plays for Utah so he gets no respect.

Love AI. Glad to see the outpouring last night… but here’s my question: When AI came into the league, and even now for that matter, critics always got onto him about dribbling the ball too much and not getting his teammates involved. Even the great Barkley said that Allen’s assist numbers aren’t true assists because he dribbles the ball till the end of the shot clock and then dishes to someone to shoot. Essentially, he gets lucky. I don’t agree with that, but it’s what has been said.

So now you got CP3 up for this MVP talk. Have you watched him play?? I was amazed… he dominates the rock on offense. During several possessions he pounded the ball into the ground cutting back and forth until he pulled up on an ill advised fadeaway. The shot fell and the announcers praised him. Another effort resulted in the same treatment of the ball by CP3 and then a lob to Chandler… and more praise from the announcers. The ENTIRE game went like this.

So here’s the question: What makes Chris Paul so different than Allen Iverson? Why do people think he is so much better of a player and deserves to be in the MVP race in his second year? I’m not hating on Chris Paul at all. I’m curious is all… any thoughts??

  8. YallAllReadyKnow says:

kobe should get mvp. if not him, then garnett for the way he turned around the celtics in 1yr. lebron can only upstage them two if he finished averaging a triple dip.
but chris paul? for mvp? i dunno about that. THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE–chris paul? nah son. he ballin and he’s the shit, but no mvp yet.

Paul is much, much, much more efficient. 50% FG 37% 3pt and 88% from the line, with few turnovers. It’s ok for someone to have the ball all the time if they’re gonna use it like he’s been using it.

  10. Logan Light says:

I get that… it’s just odd how the view has changed. If Paul had done what he is doing now back when AI entered the league would he be getting the same love? Not to mention CP3 is surrounded by much better talent right now… though you can make the case that AI’s talent in Denver is pretty legit.

  11. Utes Fan says:

I completely agree. D-Will has similar stats and his team is within two games of the Hornets. Yet Deron gets no talk at all in the conversation. If you have watched Utah since the All Star break, D-Will has been playing out of his mind. Plus in head to head matchups with NO, he owns Paul.

  12. nowwhatyo says:

Iverson pounds the ball looking for his shot, where as cp pounds the ball looking to pass. if there’s no one open, cp drains the jumper. paul dribbles around trying to manuever the defense to create open shots for teamates. iverson dribbles around looking for the lane to the basket. both players dominate the ball, but for different reasons. cp get’s my mvp vote!

  13. What is this!? says:

What the heck ever happened to the KG tfor MVP talk…did people just completely forget about him? I can’t stand all the bandwaggoning and flip flopping that is going on this year. SMH

  14. What is this!? says:

The difference between AI and CP3 is one is a pure PG and one is a combo gaurd. Iverson pounds the ball to look for his shot, because that is what he is supposed to do being a SHOOTING gaurd, people tend to forget that. Also, CP3 is more “cookie cutter” and strait forward then Iverson ever will be…which makes CP3 more exceptible to the general public then an AI. Sad, but true. I like them both though. I remember CP3 saying in an interview that Iverson was the player he looked up to growing up, he modeled parts of his game after his.

  15. Suciniac says:

Kobe having an inferior supporting cast to CP3?Get real DIME.Besides Chandler,West and some recent games by Stojakovic who else can you say is a good player.Nash got two MVP’s for “making other players better”.Those other players being all NBA and all Defensive teams.CP3 is working with way less talent on and is leading a ridiculously tough conference. The difference between A.I and CP3 is clear as daylight,A.I has never and most likely will never ever average double digit assists just as CP3 will most likely never average 30 points per game.

This MVP race has been about spurts from different players.Lebron was leading when he was putting up Big O numbers.Kobe got it when he won without Bynum. Now, it’s CP3 because he has been consistent all year but the last 10 or so games he’s dropping at least 20-10 and many times 30-10.This MVP race will come down to the last game of the season and if CP3 keeps this up, he gets my vote.

  16. Mahdi Hayes says:

who ever ill_Gangsta is need to look some stats because Deron williams is no where near close to any of Chris Paul’s Stats i mean come on now he leads the league in assists and steals there is no way Deron Williams is even close to being as good of a player as CP3 just remember who # 1 in the West
