Kicking and Screaming

Bruce Bowen is at it again. Just watch the tape. Unfortunately it’s from the Hornets’ broadcast, because we want to know what Spurs announcer Sean Elliott said during the play to defend Bowen.

Paul kicks him first; looks like he was going for the jewels, too.

  2. jnuh says:

    Actually, Jim, you’re wrong.

No part of CP makes contact with Bowen in that regard.

Bowen is a fucking douchebag hack.

  3. Jim says:

I think Bowen’s “What?” reaction is the worst part, anyway. That’s just silly.

  4. The Jed says:

Think he’ll be suspended for it?

  5. B says:

Bowen plays the game with no dignity. He shoulda been kicked out the league by now for some of the shit he pulls.

  6. Dip Set City says:

This happens every night people! Tune into the Spurs games on League Pass, you’ll see it. Refs love them some San Antonio Spurs

  7. ben says:

I personally didn’t find this play too bad on Bowen’s part. What I have a problem with is how his foot always conveniently manages to find its way under an airborn player while taking their shot. I think that’s about the dirtiest thing a player can do

  8. djKianoosh says:

The picture might be a little grainy, but I didn’t see anything wrong with what he did. what’s he supposed to do, roll out the red carpet for the guy? Paul was very close to putting his knee all up in his business, too. Incidental contact. move on.

  9. Danilo says:

The “What?” reaction is a trademark of the Spurs: Duncan does that when he fouls, Ginobili does that when people flop against him, and Bowen does that everytime he hurts someone. The best team in sports is a shame for the concept of “fair play”.

  10. word says:

    spurs= whine too much

Bowen is gunna get up there with Karl Malone soon in dirty plays, damn.

  11. control says:

On any other basketball court in any other part of the world, Bowen would have had his teeth knocked in for the shit he pulls. In Europe, he would have started a riot with those drunk ass basketball hooligans going crazy and probably razing a village or two.

The biggest insult added to the injury Bowen causes is his stupid faces he makes after he KNOWS he just cheapshotted some fool. Sure the guy is a good defender, and sure part of the game is taking(and making) those lil’ shots, but he takes those cheap shots to a who know disgraceful level sometimes.

  12. 1SKILLS says:

I’ll tell you this, if the NBA doesn’t suspend Bowen for that, they’re protecting San Antonio…it would end Bowen’s consecutive starts streak too, i think it’s at 500 right now

  13. Kudabeen says:

These are just the things that make winning so sweet. Hate it or Love it, it’s apart of the beauty of BBall competition. That’s why I love LeBron’s approach to playing bowen. He gives him work! If you let him just annoy and don’t light him up. Pop will keep him on the floor. In other games when guys go at him Ime comes in. The Bowens will always have a place in BBall, because they force the uber talented guys give a damn. Either show up or show your skirt.

  14. dagwaller says:

ben, I’m with you. I actually kind of like plays like that - they ratchet up the intensity in the arena and on the court. As long as no one has the chance to get seriously hurt, play ball.

Problem is, Bowen does stuff sometimes that’s DEFINITELY endangering other players for more than just 5 seconds of pain. I’m sure no one ever meant to do it, but if I could have done something to keep someone’s foot from underneath of mine a few times, I could’ve saved myself a ton of pain and a lot more enjoyment playing ball.

  15. Mo says:

Paul was trying to kick the basketball to Chandler.

  16. K Dizzle says:

Same ol shit. Bowen tryin to kick a dude after the whistle. Not even shocked anymore. There’s probably 80 NBA dudes watchin the highlights wishin Paul had broke him off some Bowen. It probably led to a San An win……oh, wait

  17. fallinup says:

Eh, Paul was trying to get up. And in turn got tied up on Bowen’s leg. The initial reaction would be to jerk your knee up in that manner to free your leg. Regardless of how dirty Bruce is, that wasn’t a dirty play. That was incidental contact in a heated scrum for the ball.

And just to piss off the Bowen haters even more….CP got called for the foul. LOL

  18. Boyez says:

    WOW

  19. Juanito says:

I’ve always wondered if during the Spurs’ practices, Ginobili and Bowen just take turns grabbing each other’s jersey and kicking each other in the nuts?

  20. Dennis Castro says:

Juanito, it would never get that far. How do you grab someone’s jersey when they flop if you breathe on them?

  21. Eric says:

Bruce Bowen is a punk and I want some other team ‘enforcer’ to knock him on his ass and break a bone or two. I love Duncan and Manu, but knowing Bowen is getting rings eats at me..he’s a cheater who karate chops and sticks his foot out under jump shooter. Screw him.

  22. Eric says:

  23. BlazeMcHerbs says:

I cant wait for the day Bowen pisses LeBron off, its gonna be a one shot dilinger performance, then maybe the league will think of suspending this punk once their baby-jordan is hurt.

** baby jordan because of who is in this league, what he means ($$$) to the league.

  24. yoda says:

what amazes me is how some other player, from team that had superstar hurt by bowen doesn’t do same to manu, or tp or timmy. if people start “accidently” leaving theirs foots under bowens teamates, how long would bowen keep doing his s***? i know id do same to him and his teammates, if he hurt someone on my team. same way he does it anyway.

  25. Roddy Rod says:

Bowen should be suspended, at least 2 games.(CP should have got up and gave him tha business) who was that holding Bowen? If that was me I would have scoop slammed him into the Free throw line.

  26. Brown says:

I doubt the league will do anything. Paul wasn’t hurt, Bowen didn’t even really make contact with his kick or attempted knee or whatever. That’s just Bowen being Bowen. He didn’t get suspended for doing worst, so he won’t get suspended for this.

It’s too bad he never takes it to the hole so someone can knock him on his ass and send him a message.

  27. BustJlaze says:

Oh ish…this dude has GOT to stop that foolishness

  28. ML says:

Yeah Like my fellas said before. I want to see someone knock Bowen flat on his ass. Shaq, Boozer, Rasheed it doesn’t matter.

  29. sp says:

I don’t think its that bad. Ignore that it is bowen and think of any other player. When his leg is coming up he isn’t even looking down he is trying to step over paul but at the same time paul tries to sit up so it looks like bowen kneed him.

  30. Smitty313 says:

I hate Bruce Bowen. Remember when he kneed Nash in the nuts last year.

  31. Borgs says:

If Paul doesn’t start grabbing Bowen’s leg and causing him to lose balance, then Bowen doesn’t start shaking Paul off, which is all he was doing. Bowen’s getting a bad rap for this.

  32. doc says:

Bowen the shit.He was lockin Paul up and CP got frustrated and got a little chippy and Bowen returned the favor.Paul aint complaining it must be a lot of suburb ballers on here.

  33. QQ says:

Paul’s Hornet’s destroyed the Spurs by 25 point, so meh…

But to think that this brute is once on a “possible HOF material” article. (Remember that Dime?).

    Damn.
