Pat Calathes dominated Day 1The crew at Draft Express is down in Portsmouth, Virginia, for the always-great Portsmouth Invitational Tournament - the last chance for many college seniors to make an impression with NBA scouts before the draft. For a hoophead, the P.I.T. is a great time. There’s nothing but ball all day long for three days straight, with some of the best players in country leaving it on the floor in the hopes that they’ll make an impression on somebody and either get drafted or invited to summer league.
There’s always a little bit of drama every year surrounding who shows up at the P.I.T. and who decides that it’s better to sit it out - the thinking being that a player’s stock can’t go only higher by playing at the P.I.T., it can only go down.
So who’s in and who’s out this year? Check out the Draft Express analysis as well as who killed it on the first day of games (including the guy already being hailed as “the next Mike Dunleavy“)…

Coach Smith says:
BO MCCALEB- UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS (23 PPG) 8TH IN NCAA IN SCORING- HE IS ONE OF THE BEST POINT GUARDS (TOP 5) IN THE COUNTRY NO DOUBT! ONLY REASON HE IS AT P.I.T. IS THAT HE WENT TO A SMALL SCHOOL- HE TURNED DOWN OKLAHOMA STATE TO STAY HOME AND PLAY IN FRONT OF FAMILY … HE, (NOT D.J. AUGUSTIN OF TEXAS) WAS THE BEST POINT GUARD ON THE PREP SCENE IN THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS… HE HAVE SEBASTIAN TELFAIR 28PTS AT THE ADIDAS BIG TIME TOURNEY A FEW YRS BACK, AND HE HAS BEEN IN THE TOP 10 IN SCORING IN THE COUNTRY THE PAST FEW SEASONS– INCLUDING A 37POINT PERFORMANCE VS. LSU– (THE YEAR THEY WENT TO THE FINAL FOUR)
EVERY SUMMER HE HOLDS IT DOWN AT THE TOURNAMENT OF STARS IN LAKE CHARLES, LA AGAINST TOP COLLEGE PLAYERS AND CURRENT AND FORMER NBA PLAYERS..THE LIKES OF CUTTINO MOBLEY, STEPHEN JACKSON, NICK VAN EXEL, STEVE FRANCIS, PENNY HARDAWAY….
REMEMBER- Fans, you only know who you see! te media controls who we think are great players.. if you’ve never seen a player, don’t be quick to judge and automatically call a player thta comes on TV all the time the best- when you haven’t seen the whole crop!
McCaleb would be lovely back-up to Chris Paul in his hometown of New Orleans, that’ll ease Mr.Pargo to his comfortable role of small combo guard
