Standing Tall and Ticked (photo. Mannion)Cue another summer of the Phoenix Suns (secretly) and their fans (very publicly) blaming the refs and whatever other straws they can grasp onto while trying to come to grips with another heartbreaking playoff exit. You could say last night’s game hinged on a few crucial calls/no-calls, most of which went San Antonio’s way. One of the bigger ones happened when the Suns were down by two with about 25 seconds left and Bruce Bowen attached himself to Steve Nash like a hookworm, forcing Nash to bobble the ball out of bounds. Did Bowen get a hand on the ball? Yes. Did it also clearly touch Nash last before going out of bounds? Yes. But still there was Nash going into Al Pacino overacting mode, saying it should have been Phoenix ball. In addition to that, Amare and Shaq had some not-so-subtle negative reactions to a few questionable calls made against them down the stretch (like when Tim Duncan tripped over his own feet but the ref waited until he fell down to call a tripping foul on Shaq) … At the end of the day, though, the Suns can only blame themselves. It was Nash (11 pts, 3 asts, 5 turnovers) who all of a sudden went cold and seemed to panic during an important stretch in the fourth quarter, missing shots and turning the ball over. It was Boris Diaw (22 pts, 8 rebs, 8 asts) who threw a pass over his shoulder to the Spurs bench for a backbreaking turnover. It was Amare who didn’t go to the rack with his usual aggressiveness, being hesitant when Kurt Thomas or Fabricio Oberto stood in his way. It was Shaq who went 9-for-20 from the line … Tony Parker (31 pts, 8 asts) was eating other people’s lunches in the first half, then cooled off for a while before turning into a superhero again in the fourth quarter, knocking down huge shots, making the right passes time and time again, and coming up with some big defensive plays when San Antonio needed it. He was good enough to help offset a mostly terrible game by Manu (8 pts, 2-for-11) and early shooting troubles from Duncan (29 pts, 17 rebs) … Next up for the defending champs is a date with Chris Paul, who personally closed the door on the Mavs — and perhaps Avery Johnson’s tenure as their coach — by recording his first playoff triple-double: 24 points, 11 boards and 15 assists. And zero turnovers. Jason Terry started out sticking CP full-court, but that didn’t rattle him at all as N.O. ran about 618 pick-and-rolls and pick-and-pops to create space, and the Mavs just never figured out how to defend it. And when CP wasn’t lighting them up, Jannero Pargo came in and dropped 17 off the bench … Even though Dirk Nowitzki and Terry shot a combined 12-for-32, Dallas still clawed its way back to make it a four-point game with 30 seconds left. And if Brandon Bass had gotten that putback and-one opportunity to drop, it would have been a whole different ballgame. But that play, plus Tyson Chandler’s tap-back offensive board at the end, sealed it. They say it’s a game of inches … Say what you will about Dirk (22 pts, 13 rebs, 6 asts), but he wanted that game badly. One time the ball had been knocked straight up in the air near the sideline, and as Dirk and Mo Pete waited for it to come down, Dirk just shoved Mo Pete as the N.O. crowd went nuts wanting a foul. Dirk also played every minute of the game … Jerry Stackhouse was also a little on the overaggressive side, but you can’t really blame him given the circumstances. One time Stack was called for a foul in the backcourt, and while everyone stood there looking around, for whatever reason he reached around Chris Paul to poke the ball out of his hands and basically punched CP in the stomach in the process. David West (25 pts) and Stack then got into it, and Stack was ejected … As good as Josh Howard was during last year’s Mavs/Warriors series — he was one of the only Dallas players who wasn’t shook by Golden State — he was atrocious this time around. Everything Howard seemed to throw up yesterday was a (bad) brick, and when he wasn’t doing that he was totally uninvolved in the offense. It was do-or-die for the Mavs, and Howard was playing like it was December. If he had been making up for it on D that would be one thing, but throughout the series Howard was getting hit up by Peja. Was there something going on that we don’t know about? For the last 10 days it was like Nick Nolte needed to bust into Josh’s room and have a talk with him … Erick Dampier broke the Guinness world record for “Longest Amount Of Time Standing In One Place With Your Arms Folded And A Blank Look On Your Face.” We have a feeling Damp wouldn’t be too broken up if Avery was working somewhere else next year … Before the game Byron Scott was handed the Coach of the Year trophy. Scott got 70 first-place votes, while second-place finisher Doc Rivers got 23. (Pretty sure most Celtics’ fans would cock an eyebrow at that following Boston/Atlanta Game 4.) Rick Adelman finished third, while Mo Cheeks and Phil Jackson rounded out the top five. Out of all the Showtime Lakers, would you have ever guessed that Byron Scott would have the most successful post-playing career within the game? … Chauncey Billups notched 21 points and 12 assists as the Pistons took a 3-2 lead on the Sixers. That’s two games in a row that we’ve seen the “real” Pistons: a team playing with completeness and confidence, crazy fluid offensively with even the youngsters coming off the bench looking like poised postseason vets. Early on it had high Ugly Potential despite Andre Iguodala finally playing a good game (21 pts, 5 rebs, 6 asts, 3 stls); Detroit just had everything working for them. (Even the refs, but we’re not gonna act like that was the difference.) … Rip Hamilton (20 pts) was DESTROYING Willie Green. Just killing him. If and when Green was able to stay with Rip after getting run through the hamster wheel, Rip would just take him off the dribble like he wasn’t even there … The mohawk with the letters carved on the sides wasn’t working for The Dalembeast. He looked like Grace Jones out there … But speaking of mohawks, did you know there’s an “A-Team” movie in the works? The script is updated so that the guys are Iraq War vets instead of Vietnam vets, and we’ve heard that John Singleton is directing, Woody Harrelson is playing Murdock, and Ice Cube is playing B.A. Baracus … Weird that NBA TV had the Sonics announce team — Kevin Calabro and Snapper Jones — calling the Pistons/Sixers game. Consider it a gift for those two, who didn’t get to work a single game between two good teams all year … The Rockets somehow reached back into that bottle of mojo they had during the 22-game win streak, because that was the team we saw last night routing the Jazz. T-Mac dropped 29 points on pretty much everyone wearing purple: he beasted Deron Williams in the post, toyed with Matt Harpring on the perimeter, ran around Ronnie Brewer and served Andrei Kirilenko a hot plate full of jumpers. You also had Rafer Alston hitting big shots, Bobby Jackson looking like Sacramento B-Jax for a minute, and Luis Scola manufacturing 18 points and 12 boards on nothing but hustle and guts. The Jazz simply weren’t ready — was that a byproduct of them not feeling the same sense of urgency as Houston, or was it a reminder that they’re a bad road team? … Hey, did you know that Kevin Garnett is in a new Gatorade commercial? If you haven’t seen it yet, just look at your TV because it’s on EVERY 4 SECONDS. Seriously, the KG ad is creeping into the same territory as “The Closer” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” with the overexposure. Like Pat e-mailed last night, “TNT has made me hate ‘The Closer.’ That show could be the next ‘Sopranos’ and I wouldn’t watch it because they’ve made me hate it so much. (See also: Frank Caliendo).” … The Bobcats introduced Larry Brown as their new coach in a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Flanked by Bob Johnson and Michael Jordan, LB slipped in a few classic self-promoting jabs and never once acknowledged anything related to his stint with the Knicks. And then MJ had to wash Sam Vincent’s blood off his shoes when he said, “I should have been trying to ask [Brown’s wife] one year ago!” when LB joked that wifey was the one calling the shots on what job he would take … In a piece basically detailing how dominant Josh Smith has been recently, we pointed out that J-Smoove has more blocked shots than any player in history through his 22nd birthday (768 rejections, followed by Shaq’s 709). Well, later we came across some more incredible Smith stats. Like how this year he became the first player to block 225+ shots while making 25+ three-pointers in the same season. And only three players this year averaged 20 points and 3 blocks per 48 minutes, with Smith leading the pack over Jermaine O’Neal and Chris Kaman. And only three players have ever averaged at least 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2.8 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in a season during which they played at least 70 games. One was Josh Smith. The other two: Hakeem Olajuwon (four times) and David Robinson (twice). Finally, during this decade, Smith joins Ben Wallace and AK-47 as the only players to have seasons in which they recorded 200+ blocks and 100+ steals. Long story short, the guy is f’n good … We’re out like Avery …

Hey I’m getting goose bumps for the spurs. Aren’t these hornets eerily similar to dallas of 06′ when they beat the spurs in a classic 7 game series? They had speedsters like harris and terry (cp and pargo), forwards with outside shooting like dirk, howard and van horn (west ,peja and peterson), a good rebounding center in dampier (chandler) and a decent bench with stackhouse, diop, marquis, a. griffin etc (bonzi, wright, armstrong, bowen etc). Hopefully this will be a great series.

Suns had numerous chances to win that game last night, but OMG!! They got jobbed about 3-4 times in the last five minutes, I thought the worst call was Amare’s 5th foul when TP jumped into him and totally missed him while falling down and just throwing the ball out of bounds…lol… Say what you want, but SA is the most flopping team of all-time, just watching that game last night validated that. At the same time they are a really good team, you can’t be mad at them though because if the refs is calling it, then I would do it everytime too.
But I can’t front, even though I was a Mavs fan, I am excited to see that second round match-up between N.O. and SA. That’s will be a great match up between CP3 and TP. Both teams play the same brand of b-ball (pick and roll), but the key will be keeping Tyson Chandler out of foul trouble b/c they don’t have depth at that position. Either way it will be a very intruiging series.
I don’t even wanna start with the Mavs yet, so I will wait a little while before I post on them BUMS! I’m going back to sleep..lol

Grant Hill.
He usually adds a special dimension to their offense and you never know how this series would have turned out if he had been healthy. But that’s what they get for having to depend on him, unfortunately.
For the Manu haters out there, I will give you this, his kryptonite seems to be early foul trouble. He has too many games where early foul problems bother him the rest of the game. He was awful last night, exept for a few times here and there. (See, I can be objective with him) Duncan and Parker had his back, but he needs to find his shooting stroke quickly against NO.
Chris Paul vs Tony Parker, mmm mmm. as much as that matchup sounds great, the Spurs probably don’t want TP sticking CP at all. “Bruce, sick ‘em.” but beyond that, Paul gave the Spurs real problems in the regular season. Big challenge for the defending champs.

but seriously, FUCK BRUCE BOWEN !
turnovers and bad shooting by nash killed my team last night. but i don’t blame shaq at all he was a great trade and everyone knows he doesn’t make free throws so I don’t blame him for that, it was Nash and stat I was disappointed in. whatever coach can figure out a way to get this team to the finals will be my hero.

0 Turnovers from CP? That is insane. That kid is the future.
It is weird that Nate McMillian didn’t get any votes for coach of the year. I know his team didn’t make the playoffs but they played great in a season when they were expected to curl-up and die. Remember when they were OWNING the Jazz? Nate was Sloan’s Kryptonite.
SHawn Marioin is a hapy man today feeling fairly proud that despite what his team said, he was not the problem.
Imagine if Nash would have re-signed with the Mavs when he was a free agent. I think that would have been the best move for everyone involved looking back. Nash and Nowitzki probably could have pulled off a chip together.

You can never cry about losing ap layoff series becasue of the refs, but the officiating was atrocious. That ball did NOT go off of Nash’s leg. TNT showed one replay, and because the refs got the call clearly wrong, they just moved on. The Nash out-of-bounds play, the Shaq non-tripping foul, and a slew of other fouls on on Shaq went the wrong way.
April 30th, 2008 at 7:22 am

I agree with you 100%, the one thing I can say about the Suns is that they showed class after the game and just gave SA the credit (which they deserve to a large degree)
CP3 is just plain nasty, I’m anxious to see what SA will do to slow him down besides sick Bowen on him and let him try his martial arts…lol. But NO bench is aight, SA has more bodies but Pargo aka Mav Killa is playing out of his mind, Bonzi usually does well against the Spurs (especially when he was with the Kings), Julian Wright has been ok, at least he hasn’t hurt them.
I’m thinking if Phoenix lets D’Antoni go, then Dallas need to holla at him asap. He’s a good coach. So is Avery Johnson and if he gets the boot, then he will wind up somewhere soon also I think.

Houston Up!
Who would have thought that Houston with only 1, count em, 0,1 superstar would still be in it to win it. I mean seriously out of all the West teams, Houston is still in it and not the Suns, Dallas or Denver, all of whom have at least 2 stars!
So then the question becomes is it because Houston is trying harder or that the Jazz or a weaker team than LA, San An and N.O? Just wondering.
Anyway many folks thought Houston would get swept let alone win 1. So now that they have won 2 ya boi is really pleased. Say what you want I am looking for two more wins too!
Wondering if Shaq and Jason Kidd need to take back up roles now. I am thinking that would be a good look for both of them. That or either kissing the game goodbye while they still have nice numbers.
I hate that the Suns had the calls against them, I really do cause that stuff hurts as a fan. Still when you don’t knock down free throws it’s hard to bring that up.
Amazing how this year in college and the L, free throws are really rearing there head. This is the year of the free throw.
Have to think had Josh got busy on O and D like he did against the Rockets a few years back, perhaps Dallas would have had a better chance.
Philly is trying but yea that Mohawk is that nastiest one I have seen in a minute.
I always said Charles Barkley should be a coach cause it would be hilarious. Come to find out he wants well says he is going to be a GM, so who really wants Barkley picking players lol.
Boston should be happy KG can play for the next game. He really needs to watch how he comes in contact with the refs though.
Looks like the Suns will need a new coach. Paul Silas would have them boys right.
Cp and Pargo vs. Parker and Manu…
Duncan vs. Chandler
West vs. Thomas
That is going to be good!

Oh my God I’m so tired of people complaining about bad calls from the refs. ALL the superstars get calls like the one Duncan got last night. It happens ALL THE TIME…especially for the star at home. I’m not saying it’s right, just that by now you’d think people would get used to it…refs make bad calls, and give stars a lil extra lift at times…Get Over It. I acknowledge that it’s a problem, the refs shouldn’t be able to decide games that way, but we all know it happens.
I watch Ultimate fighting all the time, and fighters NEVER want the fight to go to decision, it can go either way when it’s up to the judges. Players and coaches have to have that knockout or submission mentality when they’re trying to finish games…just like a fighter trying to finish a fight.
That’s why Gee’s idea about a coach’s challenge is such a good idea.
It’s a bunch of excuses. The suns had every opportunity to win that game…they didn’t capitalize, and everyone’s favorite overrated “superstar” had more turnovers than assists, to go with just 11 points…end of story!

Oh well maybe one day. I think it would help more than hinder and it or something is obviously needed.
Can’t have that many calls wrong. Some understandable, but when it’s many and so blatant that starts conspiracy theories and other things.
Still the Suns should have hit their freethrows for real!

Not saying he’s any better than McCain or Billary, because they ARE ALL POLITICIANS. and politicians care mostly about your vote. The only way to CHANGE your community (and by extension the world) is for YOU to DO IT. by yourself or with the help of those around you. that’s it.

Gee - gotta give the Rox credit, they made the Jazz look pathetic last night. Regardless of what un-informed people say, Adelman is a top-flight coach, easily on the same level as Pop and Sloan. How he gets that team with the guys he has available to win and make it so difficult for quality teams is amazing.
Youngfed - I don’t see the US ever electing someone named HUSSEIN Obama as our President, who cares what color his skin is, is that why you’re voting for him?

Dave that’s cool of you knowing that you are crazy about Utah.
I was just thinking about all the stuff Houston wasn’t really supposed to do this year. Honestly schedule or no, that team wasn’t suppose to win 22 games straight??? Come on. They def. ain’t suppose to be going even this far in the playoffs. Let alone this group shouldn’t even have MADE the playoffs.
Honestly they have shown more heart as a team than I can recall outside of the Allen Iverson led group in Philly. Rick deserves a lot of credit as does Tracy no matter how much people don’t care for dude. The roll players have really tried if nothing else and just that effort is appreciated and nice to see (take note Denver).
Honestly I can’t complain about anything Rocket wise no matter what happens the rest of the way.
I am taking nothing away from Utah cause dang they got a nice squad, I would take Deron, Korver and AK in a heart beat. I am just really proud of the Rockets for having the supposedly worst team (according to many) in the playoffs but making a whole lotta noise!

Ok so we can all agree that the refs made some bad calls and that the suns gave the game away simple. Personally I think that PHX had SA last year and that was their year to win it but I honestly thought they had a chance to at least eliminate SA this year. Shaq played Duncan great, too bad they couldnt stop Parker from prancin to the basket AT ALL! Also Duncan is the best PF ever so he did the best he could. By the way, if I hear that hes not a PF cause he’s 7 feet tall argument again Im going to lose it. Um how tall was Magic again? What position did he play? I rest my case. Not just in crunch time, throughout the game and series there have been terrible calls but I dont think those should make or break the game unfortunately sometimes they do. I just hate the floppin and then pressuring the refs to call it. F-in’ Parker drives throws himself into Raja Bell, Bell pushes him off a bit and he goes flying and twists his ankle and everyone waits for a friggin flagrant call, dispicable. I miss the old days of hard fouls and man-ing up, now everyone just tries to draw contact and bitches when they dont get it. The games so soft but I still go hard, bitch I go so hard

1. I have a question for RangerJohn…
Even if Obama is Muslim, what’s wrong with that? Do you know anything about the religion?
2. And about the Nash out of bounds call: It didn’t go off his leg, but it did touch his hands last. It was the right call. A telling moment from that game: Coming out of a timeout Doug Collins says, “This is when you need to execute under pressure.” IMMEDIATELY after he said that, Nash drove and tried to pass through three defenders and turned the ball over.

Dave it’s the nature of the beast. Most fans are going to consider the officiating when you want your team to win so bad. Honestly a lot of times the officiating is an issue. I don’t think it’s a case of being better than that, but looking out for your team. I have often complained about officiating in a game that was won. People just want the right calls made based on what they determine.
A lot of people hate for calls to be significant factor in important games. Thus far I would say things have been more ok than not. I mean when you team isn’t hitting free throws, you can’t really trip on any calls.
Bottom line is you got to be so far ahead and play so well that no calls can matter. You can’t leave it to chance or the refs.
I am ready for Fri.

as for the sean bell, 3 cops shot him 2 black cops now the real kicker, HE WAS SHOT OUT SIDE OF A TITTY BAR ON HIS WEDDING DAY! what the fuck are you doing at a titty bar ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? somthing is odd there dont you think?

@RangerJohn — Sean Bell was at his bachelor party the day before his wedding. Have you ever heard of a bachelor party? Sometimes they involve titties.
And again, even if Obama is Muslim, what’s wrong with someone practicing Islam? Do you know anything about the religion? FYI, Obama’s parents separated when he was 2 years old and his father moved to the Northeast while the mother and Barack stayed in Hawaii. So his father didn’t have much time to instill his “radical” views into Barack, if in fact his father was a “radical Muslim.” Which from all I’ve read, he wasn’t.

ok diego, you go look things up yourself and show me where i am wrong. here is a a few quotes FROM OBAMAS BOOK HE WROTE: In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school,he wrote in his first memoir, “Dreams from my Father.” “The teacher wrote to tell my mother that I made faces during Koranic studies.”
“Obama’s stepfather(Lolo) was a practicing Muslim.” “It was to Lolo that I turned to for guidance and instruction,” Obama recalled.
“During the five years that we would live with my stepfather in Indonesia, I was sent first to a neighborhood Catholic school(where he was registered as a Muslim) and then to a predominately Muslim school,” Obama wrote in “Audacity.”
Obama — whose FATHER,STEPFATHER, BROTHER and GRANDFATHER were Muslims — explained his own first name, Barack, in “Dreams”: “It means ‘Blessed.’ In Arabic. My grandfather was a Muslim.”
Obamas’ latests book “The Audacity of hope”
he writes “We are no longer just a Christian nation, We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of NONBELIEVERS.” nonbelievers? nonbelievers?! Who talks like that???? I have NEVER heard anyone, but a Muslim describe The United States as a “nation of nonbelievers”

As for Obama being a muslim, well if you don’t like muslims or that religion than your dislike is understood. Still I would consider the whole of what is good before I take the small of what is disliked (for all candidates).
Now if you dislike more than you like about a candidate then have at it. Still usually in choosing a president you are always choosing the lesser of evils in your view anyway.

“Before the game Byron Scott was handed the Coach of the Year trophy. Scott got 70 first-place votes, while second-place finisher Doc Rivers got 23. (Pretty sure most Celtics’ fans would cock an eyebrow at that following Boston/Atlanta Game 4.)”
Trust me, we’ve known that long before the other night. Doc shouldn’t have gotten a single COY 1st place vote. I’d put Byron Scott, Adelman, Sloan, Mo Cheeks (my COY), and Phil Jackson over him this year just to name a few.
Josh Smith is a BEAST. He’s always been godly defensively and dunking, now he’s developing a good jumper. He’s got the potential to be FAR BETTER than Shawn Marion, and that’s saying A LOT. Before every game, they should make him watch Jay Bilas saying he’s the best chance to be a bust of that whole draft, just to keep him good and mad. Jesus, what an animal. Still think the Celtics are fine, but can we try d’ing him and Joe Johnson up this game? Please…
Who cares what religion Barack is. He’s the best person to lead this country (a country that allows freedom of religion, so relax) and actually cares about all of us and making things better for everyone. If you think McCain and Clinton do, you’ve been hanging out w/ Josh Howard too much.
Question for the brothers here: Do you guys watch that House of Payne show? Is it a black thing I just don’t understand, or do you think it sucks too? Just wondering if I’m missing something…
Speaking of which, TBS, a station with the tag “We Know Funny” may have the worst lineup EVER. Really, The Bill Engvall Show, My Boys, and House of Payne? Terrible…

Ted Kaczynski the Unabomber was not a Muslim.

Karl Malone made some mistakes definitely. But before you kill him you have to know that the guy stepped up big-time in Utah and paid off dozens of people’s houses who had children with medical problems….and refused to let the press talk about it or report on it. I know about it because a kid in our neighborhood was diagnosed with a fatal disease and they were going to lose the house because they couldn’t pay the payments because of the med bills….Mail showed up on their doorstep with the title of the house and gave it to the kids dad.
I can’t say that makes up for what he did to his son, but there is always a different side to people than we know.

yes christians do comit crimes, and they are the largest religious group not only i nthe USA (this is where the majority of these crimes are) but i nthe world. the thing is radical islam is to blame for 90% of all TERRORIST ACTS in the world. so a murder commited by a christian doesnt hold ground to a plane hitting a building, or a school being held hostage by muslims, or an embasy being blown up or a battle shot being blown up. go look up the numbers, do some research on it and you will see.
i guess you guys are all about letting TSA grab a 90 yr old woman in a walker to check her for bombs while letting a muslim man walk buy to be politically correct. i mean lets be realistic, when was the last time a christian highjacked a plane?

And even if Barack is Muslim, I don’t blame him for not revealing it. As you have proven, RangerJohn, this county is not yet ready to accept the Islamic faith. Obama would have to get into office, then maybe reveal his faith and show people that he’s not some terrorist just because he’s Muslim. Which again, no one has shown that he is.

ranger I get you, don’t necessarily agree, but can’t argue why you dislike someone provided you have that right. You obviously like McCain way better and that is cool and again your right. I just hope you are looking at all aspects of a candidate as I hope everyone is. Cause between, education, gas prices (lol), the war, economy, health care, global warming and a list of other things. It seems some concentrate on one thing they totally dislike about a candidate rather than so many more things that should go into the equation.
It’s funny how we have grown to know each other on this site. Not literally but in the sense of knowing what some do for a living, and what others like and dislike.

gee, i have to say you are the coolest head in the room by far and i aplaud you for that.
as i said i dont trust obama or clinton. i may not like everything mccain does but he is the only candidate that stand up for what he believes and does not waiver to speak of. obama has to hide his religion? well then he is no better then what people believe bush is, lieing to get what he wants. clinton will say what you want to hear but when put on the spot will crawfish (back up and change stories) to cover her ass.
in the end i hope everyone votes for who they want, and i hope the best person wins but i surely hope it is not a lier (the usa cant handle another lie) out to get what they want for themselves. and if you think obama is going to “change the world” wait and see, he sure hasnt done much for the people who have already ellected him.

SUNS - EXCUSES ARE FUTILE
It looked like Nash may have hit the ball off his hands even though Bruce touched it first. They missed an assload of free throws. They turned the ball over in crunch time. Blame the refs, but they lost three other games legitimately also, so suck it up and take responsibility dammit.
Manu’s kryptonite is not early foul trouble, it is injury - he is hurt right now, ankle and groin still tender. Still he iced the game with free throws.
CP versus TP is going to be an all-time classic matchup for years to come, along with Deron of course. Can’t wait for this series, advantage goes to Spurs b/c they have waaay more experience. They’ll lose Game 1 then take 4 out of the next 5, Spurs in 6.
CP and TP are 2 of the quickest guards in the L but you have to put Monta Ellis and Leandro Barbosa right there, too. Allen Iverson is no slouch either.
@Word - Tell us how you really feel about Bruce Bowen, hehe.
Hopefully the new A-Team movie won’t be so commercialized it is grotesque, but I am betting there will be mad Pepsi or Burger King advertisements scattered throughout. Still haven’t caught that new Transformers flick btw, maybe once A-Team hits DVD I can have an 80’s night and relive my youth. NOSTALGIA!!!

dapro, it is hard not to generalize a group of people (it is human nature) when they make it hard. as i have said, not all followers of islam are this way but the islamic faith specifically says to take land by force, and once it is islamic land it will always be by force or not. this is an issue for me. from the time of the persians they have attacked and killed. europeans have taken land as well, so did the romans, the greeks, the mongals, it is human nature.
on the other hand i had friends die in somalia because muslims wanted to KILL AMERICANS. i have friends who have been killed in afganistan and iraq, i had a grandfather who was a bataan death march survivor (not muslims) and a pow for 2 yrs. i know 1st hand what man can do to other man. i dont need a book report, i have 1st hand knowlege. i have seen body parts from a car bomb, i have seen children blown up because they where sunni and not shia, i have seen americans in 50 pieces because they are doing what they are told by a govt that MIGHT OR MIGHTNOT be out for itself.
so i say again, muslims (radical) have had a hand in 90% of the worlds problems in the past 2 centuries (and before) and so as general as it is i do not care for them as a whole. like it or not that is the way the world works.

Osama was funded by the US government to take down the USSR as it was formally known
Saddam was thrust into power by the US government to have a steady influence in the Middle Eastern world and overthrow the previous regime
Fidel Castro was placed into power by overthrowing the Batista with help from the US government to keep a watchful eye on the Cuban land
America has a long standing history of bullying and forcing other countries to accept and bow down to their ways. When these men no longer wanted to carry out the orders of the US government, they became enemies of the state and deemed dangerous. I love America, it is the greatest country in the world but we can’t continue on as we have.

Doc - I didn’t mean to give any impression negatively on any race (stop being so sensitive assuming everyone is racist), I just know I’ve lost family who were fighting for the freedom of people like you and me and you slam someones service as a soldier, it just is not right. You’re right, I don’t know you and owe you an apology because your parents and people in general deserve more respect than I gave, I’m sorry.
….but people who have put their life on the line for our rights should always have our respect for their service.
Regarding welfare etc. I have a strong belief that if a person is accountable for what they do it will solve a ton of the worlds problems, including me working and paying taxes to support people too lazy to get a job who are perfectly capable. Here in Utah those people are mostly white or Mexican, so you are inaccurate when you assume I meant something else.

SOUSS in looking at Kidd’s current demise and how the position has evolved more into scoring points that passing. Yea I will give you that now. I will replace Kidd with TP and give him top 3 in the L.
I love how TP will test the waters. You know dribble close to in the lane to see if he is got something pull it back out and fake going in again and by then you are just wondering what is going to go down and he eventually scores. Crazy
Kidd still has done his thing and is still worth having on a team. I still wonder if him and Shaq would make better back-ups now than starters?
dj I think a brawl is certainly going to pop off, and I would hate for it to be the reason one team advances and another doesn’t because players got suspended.
Hockey is the only sport that lets them get down with no game suspensions.
I think the NBA should look into 1st or 2nd half suspensions and quarter suspensions (another GEE idea). Things warrant different degrees and to always automatically get games, is to drastic sometime.
