Beef With Kobe
The Nuggets’ Anthony Carter has issues with Kobe Bryant. From today’s Denver Post:
LOS ANGELES — Nuggets guard Anthony Carter vows to no longer take the Kobe Bryant flying arms, elbows and fingers issue lying down.
Carter was assessed a technical foul Sunday for his takedown of the Los Angeles Lakers star early in the third quarter. On a fast break, Carter tried to hold down Bryant from flying in for a dunk. In the momentum that carried both players out of bounds, Bryant’s arm swung back, and a finger caught Carter in the eye. Carter let Bryant go with a slight push, which angered Bryant.
But while Bryant laughed it off in the postgame news conference — “That was completely unintentional,” he said — Carter said he will take action.
“I grabbed him, but once he hit me in my face . . . He’s been known to do stuff like that,” Carter said. “Right now, I’m telling (Nuggets video coordinator Jack Murphy) to get some copy of the film where he elbowed me in my face and hit me in my face again after the play was over.”
Carter then goes on to say that he intends to “keep trying to give the film to the League.”
Did you see the play Carter is talking about? Did it look like an intentional swipe by Kobe?

Kobe WAS airborne when Carter pulled him down though…maybe Kobe caught him with a flailing arm, but I don’t think it was intentional.

Kobe can’t possibly still get the benefit of the doubt on this stuff.

Bust Jlaze says:
everyone knows kobe flails his arms. It’s a bad habit, but he does it ALL the time, so he’s BOUND to hit someone’s face every once in a while. But if it was intentional, then he’d be hitting people in their faces EVERY TIME HE SHOOTS, cause his arms flail that often. But pulling someone down while they’re in the air is unacceptible.

Logan Light says:
I don’t think it was intentional… But good for Anthony Carter. Doing exactly what he needs to do for his team – take the spotlight off of Iverson and Melo. He should make the biggest deal out of this as he can… that way no one points the finger at Iverson’s tantrum that got him ejected.

yea I don’t think it was intentional cuz #3 is right, just like Dirk always does too. everyone kinda knows, funniest part was when Iverson lost it, he kinda knows they’re not winning that series at all, might get swept now.

who cares if it was intentional. If you’re gonna intentionally foul in order stop a dunk, don’t complain about the contact. try playing D

GEE..If you like fish & grits and all that pimp ish says:
Man that wasn’t intentional. Kobe has a bad habit of letting his arms just go “slinky” and fly everywhere when he has been fouled in order to get the foul called. It’s sort of like flopping, but not as dramatic I would say or outright. Anyway the thing with Kobe is when he does this, it’s often the other player who fouled him that gets hurt. That is what happened.
What will happen possibly is if Kobe does the “Arms go Slinky” thing again on a foul and hit someone, he might wanna watch out for a “Childs” re-enactment. Bob and Weave Kobe…Bob and Weave.

This made me wonder if K.G. is looking behind his back for mascots with T-Shirt guns though lol.
Carter is just trying to find a reason.
Question? If Kobe was to get in a scuffle, who steps up to defend Kobe in order to make the other players think twice. Odom, Pau…Ronnie??? It’s nobody on the Lakers to really be scared of?

QQ says:
If Denver’s players take issues like playing defense and not jacking bad shot after bad shot as seriously as their taking this ‘flailing Kobe arms’ stuff, we might actually have a series.

dont think kobe hit him on purpose, plus he didnt hit him hard at all. as i remeber, carter tackled him in air, and kobe kinda rotate in air. like kobe said, he had to be neo from matrix to spins in air and hit someone behind his back on purpose, in situation like that.

Chuck says:
I don’t know if anyone on this site plays ball.
But if you pull a man down while he’s in the middle of the air, then you might get hit in the face intentionally anyway. That’s dangerous, you could injure a player doing that. Anthiny Carter is a scrub and always will be, he needs to try playing some freakin defense instead of grabbing people.
It’s funny how chumps that suck and really shouldn’t be in the league anway feel they have the right to complain!

Childs’ punch was a bit soft… I guess ballers aren’t brawlers like people say.
There has only been two or three real punches in NBA history that I’ve seen. Doctor J on Larry bird and Kermit Washington on Rudy T are the two that comes to mind.

Gee- Yo a Chris Childs mention that was a good memory all KOBE needed was a biscuit after that two piece(lol)
Chuck- I play basketball and nobody in the NBA under 6′8″ is a scrub trust me on that. Plus any man has the right to complain I would never let LeBron Kobe or any superstar talk shit to me(peace to DeShawn S.) just because I’m a role player I’m a man first this is not directed to you personally but I tired of people acting like you are suppose to bend over to another man but with that said that was a bad foul in this case KOBE should be mad at him he could have went for the ball instead of being lazy.
To everyone- I say this with love for A.I. but if you are a point guard and you have Carmelo Anthony and K-Mart on your team you should not be the leading scorer on your team. A.I. needs to change his game or he will never win a championship.

Gee…Ronnie would definitely back KB24, in anything. Turiaf gots a serious man-crush on Kobe.
Oh, and Kobe does this ish a little too often. Raja Bell went after him ac ouple years back, and, for a second, everyone thought he was speaking gibberish until we rolled the tapes over and found out Kobe is cheaper than Youngfed’s mom on a Motown corner. Kobe does this ish way too often. And the foul that Carter hit him with was perfect and very sportsmanlike. He made a play on the ball, got Kobe’s arm, caught him so he wouldn’t hurt his sissy-self, and then, way after the play, out of bounds Kobe magically pokes him in the eye, then gets all indignant when Carter pushes him away from him, drawing the T. I’m not saying that it was a bad decision to T up Anthony Carter, just that Kobe is a huge bitch. A great ball player, but a huge bitch nonetheless.

Johnny Angel says:
What a joke. That was not intentional, and besides it was in the process of being tackled by the same Carter who commited the mugging on Kobe mid-air.
The Haters who are commenting about Kobe being “dirty” need to get a life and focus on their own teams….oops I forgot your “teams” didn’t even make the playoffs. Sucks to live in Sacramento for you guys.

sans that post was funny. Yea Ronnie do be a little to geeked up for me when it comes to Kobe.
Do be acting like he gone wet himself or something.
It’s bad.
R.E.W. – Yea Kobe needed a biscuit for real with that meal lol.
Kobe has hit that weight room hard since then, so I don’t think no one just gone run up on him, they might think twice. Still you have to think that most dudes just want to try him though.

Reed Ewing Frazier says:
daquest?- Calm down Slim, if the ball is in your hand coming down the court 80% percent of the time you are the point guard not what is on paper do you know anything about basketball I bet the next thing you are going to say is that Eric Snow or Kevin Ollie where the point guards on those Sixer teams(lol) Iverson played with(on paper they were but hopefully you get the point!) basically my point is still valid whether he is the 2 or the 1 he should not be the leading scorer on a team that has C. Anthony and Kmart
Gee- Yeah Kobe doesn’t need anybody to lookout for him now he can hold his own.
Everyone- I’m not a KOBE fan but in this case I’m with him plus he is the best player in the NBA so he is going to get the benifit of calls just like the greats before him Knicks Up all the rest down

A Carter wasting his breath.Hes a fucking bum anyway who must’ve seen Karl cheating on his wife.

That totally wasn’t intentional, but still I like Carter trying to light a fire under his team by callin’ out the Mamba. Here is the thing though…I noticed during the game that Kobe was playin’ all “tough guy” with Kmart. Talkin’ trash about hoops to Kmart if you are kobe is acceptable, but being tough guy is dumb. Kmart would rip skinny Kobe limb from limb if he saw him on the streets. Kobe should get his head straight. He’s gone loco…
Saw a cool article on Kobe for MVP on http://www.thehoopdoctors.com….basically says he’ll win mvp but lebron or chris paul deservers it more..
