Deepest Team in the League?

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONTheo saw time for Flip last night

Flip Saunders put out an Isiah lineup last night, letting his starters get a night off with eight games left on the slate. And it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke. With Tayshaun Prince as the only guy on the floor who sees regular crunch time burn, the Pistons stormed back from a 21-point first half deficit to snag a 94-90 win over the T-Wolves. But it wasn’t Tayshaun who led Detroit’s charge. Rodney Stuckey couldn’t be kept off the line, sinking 12-13 free throws as he scored 12 of his 27 in the fourth. Rook has now seen 30 minutes on three occasions. During those three games, he’s averaging 18.6 points. What if he actually saw consistent burn?

“It gives Coach confidence in us, and it also gives our vets confidence in us, which they already had in us,” Stuckey said. “It just shows them that, hey, we can come on the court, play hard and play together as a team and do what we’ve got to do.”

With Stuckey operating on Randy Foye and Prince playing second fiddle along the baseline, Detroit got valuable contributions from almost everyone else on their roster - even guys who nobody knows left the D-League. The Stuckey, Cheikh Samb, Walter Hermann, Juan Dixon, and Amir Johnson lineup was actually the one to cut Minny’s lead with a 14-0 run at the end of the second half. It wasn’t like they made that run against Minnesota’s second team. The group in the game for Randy Wittman included Al Jefferson, Corey Brewer, Randy Foye, and Marko Jaric.

“Their bench kicked our rear ends,” Wittman said.

  2. rodnets says:

Walter Herrmann is underrated. Just because he looks funny and girly doesn´t allow anoyone to tell he can´t ball.

DIME you should post a rank of fun to watch players that never get the basketball approval because they look funny

    Celticsdada -
You just a Pistons hater! They put out five guys who are the 9th, 10th and 11th guys on their bench and they beat an NBA team’s 5 best! Your mad cuz you got Tony Allen coming off your bench and we got Stuck, Afflalo, Amir, rodnets’ boy Hermann and Juan.
    Who is deeper than us?

  5. barkley says:

    Celticsdada-

You do realize that the Pistons bench and 3rd string just combined to beat a team’s starters right? Bet Celtics bench would get wiped off the floor with the lineup of AlJeff/Craig Smith/Brewer/Foye/Jaric

  6. drodrone says:

noway pistons dont win it this year. they are the best theo was a great addition and i think he should start instead of mcdyess in the playoffs. dont matter cause pistons DO WORK!

  7. K Dizzle says:

  8. daquest?on says:

  9. daquest?on says:

  12. rangerjohn says:

yep you got me i am a hater, pistons fan thinks their team is the best in the last 10 yrs but have only got 1 ring (4 yrs ago) and a whole lot of disapointments the rest of the time. hell only 2 finals for that mater as well. got beat down by a one man show as well.
pistons are done, cant get past boston and if they did they would lose to anyone coming out of the west.

pistons GOOD TEAM, not good enough!

  13. fanfordecades says:

    rangerjohn,

sorry, but your retardedness is showing… time for you to log off and go take your meds…

The Pistons have as good a chance as any team to win the finals this year, and a far better chance than most.

  14. RonNation says:

Whole lot of piston nut suckin goin on right here…

The twolves have nothing to play for.. except for maybe a higher amount of ping pong balls. Are you seriously, SERIOUSLY going to brag about a victory over the twolves??? It doesn’t matter who the fuck you play they are all nba players.. If you see the piston run a 10/11/12 man rotation in games that are important/playoffs then you can say something… But to brag about this, for shame.
