Today’s Washington Post has the Wizards‘ response to Charles Barkley’s thoughts on their team.
“Are we really going to listen to a guy who said Yao Ming would not be an all-star in this league?” [DeShawn] Stevenson asked. “I mean really. So who cares what he has to say? Tell Charles Barkley to chill and worry about other things. Don’t worry about the Washington Wizards.”
Arenas called Barkley’s take “cute” and responded to Barkley’s assertion that the Wizards shouldn’t tweak James because, in Barkley’s words, James is “the second-best player in the NBA, and that’s just stupid.”
“They might have the number two player,” Arenas said. “But they don’t have the number one end-of-quarter, end-of-half, end-of-game player.”

I like the Imma say what I want style of DeShawn. He just has to be sure to back that ish in the playoffs. I can’t stand when players say stuff, then go hoping the team comes to their rescue.
If he doesn’t and the Wiz lose, Charles is going to get in that %&* something awful.

I am a Cavs and Lebron fan, but I totally agree. The Wiz have to feel confident and they can’t show anything different if they want to show that they are not intimidated. Plus all the trash talking makes the game a lot more fun.

Finally, something interesting about the predictable Eastern Conference Playoffs. Re: Arenas, sounds like something Barkley would say in his early years. Anyway, Go Wiz- they are better off being the underdog in this series. Last year was a fluke for the Cavs. Lebron is not that great of a closer against the better teams, but he is more than a dunker, though his shot looks awful. He doesn’t have a reliable supporting task so that factor is against him if he needs to pass it. Arenas (in his prime) can kill anyone with the clock winding down. But, anyone would be their house on Kobe in the clutch.

I Don’t think LeBron is the best closer in the game (Kobe by a landslide but Manu and Chauncey are right there too) don’t forget in a game against the Lakers this year with the game tied in the closing mintues (if I’m not mistaken) Bron-Bron forced Kobe into a miss and then went down on the other end and STUCK one over Kobe to win that game. Dude IS one the league’s better closers/clutch players but NOT the best.
