How West Won
Photo. MannionNow, to be honest, we can’t really see LeBron ever getting into an actual fight in an NBA game. If it ever did go down though, it would probably be with DeShawn Stevenson. In fact, it almost boiled over yesterday afternoon when, towards the ends of the first half of Game 4 of their series, Stevenson came from behind on a James’ drive and smacked the headband right off LeBron’s head. ‘Bron kept his balance and he and Stevenson started towards each other before teammates stepped in. After the game LeBron said his teammates told him that DeShawn hit him with a closed fist (questionable) and he then told reporters (while employing excellent use of the third person): “If we was in the park, something definitely would have escalated. But, you know, I guess that’s what they want to do. They want to hurt LeBron James this series. It ain’t working.” … For DeShawn’s part, he wasn’t so much into talking about the incident, but did have this for the AP reporter who asked about the diss song about him that Jay-Z debuted at a D.C. club this weekend: “He’s worth $500 million, and he’s writing songs about me,” Stevenson said before tipoff. “What does that say about DeShawn Stevenson? Ballin’!” … As for the game itself, Delonte West wetted a three from the corner with a few seconds left in a tie game to give the Cavs the W and 3-1 stranglehold on the series. West had been burying shots all day long (21 points on 7-12 from the field, 5-8 from three) and it seemed like every time the Wiz doubled LeBron, they were conceding an open jumper for Delonte. On that last Cavs’ possession, the Wizards swarmed LeBron (34, 12 and 7 assists), leaving West wide open in the corner. James gave it up and Delonte drilled it. Considering that was the same shot Donyell Marshall was missing last year, we’d say that was a decent trade for the Cavs … When the Wizards look back at yesterday’s game, they’ll be haunted by their (lack of) rebounding. The Cavs just slaughtered them on the offensive glass, pulling down 18 offensive boards. Considering the fact that Washington only lost by three, if they boxed out at all, and kept Cleveland from racking up second-chance points, they probably win that game … Sunday’s second afternoon game wasn’t really much of a game at all, as the Suns found a pulse and came out and clocked the Spurs 105-96 to bring the series to 3-1. Phoenix blitzed San Antonio from the jump, outscoring the Spurs 34-13 in the first quarter. San Antonio didn’t look like they were really ready to get after it yesterday afternoon, something that Gregg Popovich clearly sensed as well, benching his starters from partway through the third quarter to the end of the game … If you’re a Raptors fan, this is enough to make you ill. In Peter Vecsey’s column in yesterday’s New York Post he dropped this about Sam Mitchell:
“The whispering campaign regarding Mitchell is supposedly he’s not a hard worker or on top of the league’s current events. A few months ago, before the Raptors were to play the Lakers, he addressed the team by telling them, ‘We’ll worry about the guy who got 81 in a second, but first I want to talk about Andrew Bynum and how he killed us last time.’ A hush engulfed the locker room. ‘Hey, coach,’ Chris Bosh interrupted. ‘Bynum’s been out for weeks with an injury.’”
If the Wizards are going to beat themselves up over not boxing out, the Sixers are going to spend the next few days thinking about all the turnovers and missed foul shots that cost them what would’ve been a HUGE win over the Pistons last night in Philly. The Sixers were up 10 on a lifeless Pistons team at the half; putting down the hammer at the start of the third quarter could have been enough to send the series back to Detroit 3-1, Philadelphia. Instead, by the time two minutes went off the clock in the third, the Pistons were only down one. A few Rasheed Wallace threes and a steady dose of Rip Hamilton jumpers right in Willie Green’s mug and the lead swelled to double-digits and there was no coming back for Philly … ‘Sheed got himself a T at the end of the first half and Mike Dunleavy (who was doing the color commentary last night) spent the rest of the night insisting that’s what ignited Detroit. Don’t you think they’ve seen the act so many times at this point that it doesn’t faze his teammates one bit? … One last Rasheed note for today: Did you pick up on the TNT microphones towards the end of the game when he was taunting the Philly fans? Chauncey Billups was shooting foul shots and ‘Sheed kept yelling at a bunch of fans something to the effect of “’83 is all your gonna get!” The last Sixers championship was in 1983. That’s especially cold coming from a Philly guy like Rasheed … It’s basically a wrap for the Mavericks at this point. They had a little momentum coming off their Game 3 win and came out last night and did their best to hit the Hornets with another haymaker on their home floor. New Orleans just shook off Dallas’ early energy and went about their business dismantling the Mavs in every aspect of the game, winning 97-84. It was much closer to a 20-piecing, but Jose Barea stuck a bunch of threes in garbage time … It’s funny, the Mavs clearly came out trying to play a more physical style of ball than we’re used to seeing from them, but they really don’t have anyone who can get to the rim on the regular. You can only be so physical when 90% of your shots are long jumpers. The Mavs only took 16 foul shots in the game … Dallas was playing hard, especially Dirk, who was doing his best to get his nose in everything. It just felt like the Mavs were in quicksand though. They’d battle on the offensive end to get a good look, but then at the other end of the floor, they were basically at the mercy of the Hornets’ offense. And any time you register ZERO points off your opponent’s turnovers, you’re going to be up against it … There was an incident in the second half where Jason Kidd was booted from the game for a flagrant 2 foul on Janerro Pargo. After the game in the TNT studio, Chris Webber pointed out that no one rushed over to really get Kidd’s back when tempers flared after the foul. “I wouldn’t want to play on Dallas and be in the trenches and have to have a player come watch my back,” said Webber. “I think the only person who would come up is Kidd or Stackhouse. I don’t want to take all that heat for another guy if no one’s going to come to my rescue.” … You know who’s most definitely not helping himself right now? Josh Howard. Going 3-14 from the floor for six points when his team needed him the most while the whole marijuana thing still fresh in everyone’s mind isn’t a good look. You could hear the home fans booing him … The mutiny continued as one fan was ejected from the arena for jawing with Mark Cuban. And as time wound down, the TNT cameras kept showing what looked like Cuban going back and forth with another fan. Did we mention this was in Dallas??? … We’re out like the Mavs’ home court advantage.

Why does Deshawn keep messing with Lebron? I mean I understand they are being competetive, but that foul he gave Bron was just cheap. And I am a big fan of Jay-Z…but he is too old to be getting involved with this school yard nonsense going on with Deshawn and Lebron. He really had a diss record with Deshawns name in it? Really Jay? Stop it already. LOL!
But Seriously… when the Cavs get to the second round, they may give the Celtics some problems. I remember that the Cavs played the Celtics hard each time they saw them this year. Now i’m not saying the Cavs will win the series…but I don’t think it will be an easy rout for the Celtics.
The Sixers won’t win one more game in this series against the Pistons…book it.
And Dallas is a all out hot mess right about now. I don’t think they win this series and I actually think they will lose the next game. This is a time where having Devin Harris would come in handy. He is fast enough to gaurd CP3 and is just as explosive. Somewhere in New Jersey Devin is laughing his @ss off.

Josh Howard was bad but Iggy is also sucking eggs right now. Last night he was ouscored by THad Young (which I predicted) who played about 15 less minutes. People always said Iggy can’t shoot but this is getting stupid.

Kidd is bad but at least his contract is shorter than Shaq’s. The suns are going to sink the team with fat shaq and his fat contract.
Both trades really sucked but dallas gave up the most.

It’s amazing that so many people are talking bad about Kidd, when in the beginning of the year, Dallas was the number one destination everyone had for him. Honestly, I don’t think its Kidd, its Avery crappy ass offensive system. It doesn’t work! Obviously the players don’t buy into it anymore. How in the world can a team with so many shooters not score enough points? And Chris Webber is right. That is two instances where someone on the Dallas squad got into a scuffle and no one was there to back them up. There is something not right with that team. I expect many changes to this team next year.

the sixers’ problems all start with that bumbling fool of a center we have named Samuel Dalembert. Please ya’ll, just watch him specifically, every posession. You can tell he’s always going to be a work in progress. He is so inconsistent. sometimes he does the right thing, but sometimes, like in the 3rd quarter last night, he does a series of idiotic things that take a 10 point lead and turn it into a 10 point deficit. when reggie evans and that smith rookie came it things just settled down again, but the damage was done. on top off that, iggy is getting detroit’s full attention, he just has to make sure he doesn’t lose it. the rest of the team, like green, thaddeus, miller, etc can get it done if they shoot well and take it strong to the hole like green did a bunch of times. i’m impressed with how much green has improved. sixers have a chance, but they won’t win a game 7. if they want to win this series, they need to do it in 6.
spurs looked like they didn’t know what hit em. but, why did it take 2 games for them to snap out of that funk they were in? this should get wrapped up in 5, though. unless Diaw can play like that on the road…

Proud of LeBron for being smart and not letting them bait him into a fight to get kicked out and suspended and all. He still backs away a little to fast for my taste but glad to see he is using his head.
DeShawn & the tatto across the back, then the asking for or about “Christina Aguilera” reference on myspace or facebook or something, then the beard, next LeBron is overrated, next get Soulja boy into the mix, also a Jay diss song and a hard foul. The young man has been busy lol.
Glad to see teams joining the Rockets at the 3-1 spot lol. Dallas is crazy. Player admits to smoking the greeny greeeen green and then has a horrid game. Owner in arguments with fans and questions about if it’s the coaches fault and what will happen to Avery, also people questioning the J-Kidd trade. It’s one thing to take an L, but another thing to have a load of mess surrounding the L.
I really like Kidd too but it’s not looking good in the other D.
Really can’t see Philly getting another win. Seriously who knows with the way Detroit picks random days to turn it on right before the game, but it doesn’t look good for Philly.
Soulja Boy should really get a ghost writer if he is going to try to do something. Otherwise that 4 minutes of genius that AB talked about is going to be real comical.

Actually, anyone can see why Cuban pulled that trade.Harris will be more productive than Kidd maybe as soon as next year.Cuban either had to wait for Harris to grow into a play maker and watch Dirk,Howard and Co lose precious years of their prime.Or, he could get a veteran play maker to work with Dirk,Howard and Co without having to wait for Harris to develop.Nice gutsy move on Cubans part but DIDN’T WORK.

Tough loss for the Sixers. When Detroit turned up the D, the Sixers looked lost and apprehensive. Picking up their dribble too early, throwing double clutch passes, etc.
When you give up like 20 O-boards, you’re not going to win. All of the Sixers front line, from Sammy to Jason Smith, should be embarrassed by that rebounding effort.
Tayshaun is like the Pistons version of Andrew Toney for us and Boston. He locked Iverson down in the past, and he’s locking down Iguodala now. What I don’t get is that Iguodala can absolutely take him in the post, but he settles for jumpers or he’ll fade after he backs him down. He needs to man up right now, because all the good he did in the regular season to get P-A-I-D is all coming apart now.
I think Mo will have this team ready to play in game 6, but it’ll be tough. Detroit looks like they care now and have picked up the intensity.
And how funny was it to hear Dunleavy still “hold” a grudge against Reggie Evans?

I don’t really listen to rap, but Jay-Z taking time to take a shot a Deshawn just seems ridiculous to me.
Harris wouldn’t have made too much of a difference, but I do think he’d be able to stick with CP3 better than Kidd. Kidd is not Dallas’ problem though. The whole organization needs a make over, starting with the owner (as if that would happen).

I’ve BEEN tired of it. That’s all I’m saying. Obviously Lebron is great. Doesn’t mean anyone can be faulted for not liking him.
Thanks GayforRudy, I thought that I was the only one who felt that way.

Rappers that could defend players
Snoop defends Kobe
Freeway defends Andre I.
Eminem defends Sheed
Scarface defends Tracy
T.I. defends Al Horford
Flo Rida defends Dwight
Lil Wayne defends CP
Lil Flip defends Dallas
UGK Bun B defends San An
No Mc’s I could think of for Boston, Toronto, Phoenix, and Utah. Denver I have one but no one would know him and at this point he prolly wouldn’t defend anyone on the Nuggs anyway. Cleveland and Washinton already got theirs.
Hey before anyone starts getting serious I was just messin around with this.
DIME what is the deal on Paul Silas. He was a great coach to me. Do you all think he will get back on the scene? He could do a team some good (DENVER).

Lebron always throwing the dam roc up like he rap so to make a song for him was the least Hov could do.Sheed stepped it up last night at least he from my hood since he wanna beat my team. But that was good because now all the people jumping off the wagon and only the true fans will be satisfied when we bust Detroit ass the next game.Sixers in 6.

And I think Devin Harris would of put up a better fight than Kidd. They did go to the chip with dude.It wasnt his fault G-State cooked them.If it aint broke dont fix it.Now Cuban got fans trying to give him a rumble for trading Harris and Diop for a old has been that is lucky people on his dick or he would get cut from the USA team instead of Paul or D Will.

Didn’t know that about Toronto and I will have to keep an ear out for Luu Breeze.
A.I. rapping…you think he’s that nice??? Not to mention I don’t even think A.I. would flow for himself, he might get Skills to do it (ain’t he and A.I. from VA?). Plus from the looks of it, and this is just GEE…I think A.I. is sick of Denver. I am thinking he is really wishing he was back in Philly.
Yea I can’t picture no one grabbin the mic in Utah.

If any of the guards need to get cut from team USA it’s billups or kidd. No disrespect to either of ‘em but both deron and cp are outplaying them. I was never a fan of chauncey anyway. He chooses when to play hard and when not to, he gets paid way too much to decide to play lazily whenever he wants.

@ post 53 – Nobody gonna say anything else on the fact that crap never happened and you know there won’t be a retraction. Media always tryin to undermind certain coaches. I don’t even like Mitchell and I know that the man ain’t that lazy. Dude goes from coach of the year last year, loses his best player for like 12-15 games, gets nothin from last year’s first overall pick, loses Garbajosa, gets damn near the same record, back into the playoffs, gets his team to compete in all the games and then they throw this junk out. Like I been sayin, Don’t believe the hype! They got these foolish talkin heads on my flat screen talkin bout how the Raps wouldn’t get into the playoffs, but the Knicks had a great shot, about how Chris Bosh ain’t a franchise player, but after 35 and 15 , it gets quiet. That’s how the media rolls. They dogged Mike cuz he wanted to keep playin so he bounced to Washington so ain’t nobody off-limits. I’m done rantin now tho.
Lakers in 4 unless the Nuggets get a workin heart. Home in 4, rest and hope Rafer keeps carryin Houston cuz D-Will don’t look like he tired yet.
KB24 – gettin the MVP chants in Denver. DAMN!!!
i’m out like vecsey’s credibility

lol control that is about the best they will have too.
Oh yea Utah has an excellent home record….there is a reason too.
I ain’t saying they get a lot of calls inside their home spot. I ain’t saying that more than a couple of their players be floppin all over the place like fish out of water. I ain’t sayin that they can body and play physical with the opponents star player and when a player blinks more than once in a 30 second span it’s a foul when their star player is being guarded.
I ain’t saying none of that. I am just saying it is a reason why they have an excellent home record lol.
(Utah fans are going to be pissed lol).

What is this!? says:
Kobe got “MVP” chants in Denver because half of the people that live in Denver are from Cali and are Lakers fans. Denvers crowd is garbage anyway. Could you imagine Kobe going to Golden State or Philly (when Iverson was there) and their crowds chanting “MVP” for Kobe (no matter how well he’s playing this year)? Hell no…their crowds are too live for that, they don’t play that sh*t. Just another reason why as a fan I want Iverson out of Denver…and Carmelo needs to stay in Denver with that garbage crowd where he belongs.

SAS Sizzle says:
Vescey is just a man-tool for buttsex. Nobody gives a sh*t was he has to say, it’s all trollish slander.
Utah needs a 7-footer to combat Duncan if they wanna go anywhere. Even Kurt Thomas can hold the Booze down. Most Jazz fans are not as bad as Suns fans, but mos def as delusional about their team. Why is that team sooo pale btw?
The Suns win was just a consolation prize, not gonna happen in SA for Game 5!

Nimit says:
At this point, does anyone even doubt that LeBron will leave Cleveland to join the Brooklyn Nets? followed by all knicks trying to convince themselves that its not really breaking the rules to change teams if ur team’s reached the level that they have.
by that time Boston will be done…same with Detroit. Cant see the magic improving much, unless Lewis plays upto his money. the only team that could challenge the nets?…Miami Heat. Rose, Wade, Marion, veteran players on the cheap, role playing free agents attracted by 2 stars and one quasi-star.
OK, im getting wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ahead of myself.
