Taylor King to Transfer From Duke

Duke freshman Taylor King has decided to transfer. From the AP news service:

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke freshman forward Taylor King has decided to transfer.

King, a 6-foot-6 native of Huntington Beach, Calif., saw action in all 34 games in 2007-08, averaging 5.9 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. He had two 20-point games, including 27 points against Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 25, 2007.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski said Monday that King has “the ability to be a good player,” adding that he supported King’s decision to transfer.

Duke did not say where King would transfer.

The Coach K quote pretty much says it all, doesn’t it? All season long it was pretty clear that Coach K didn’t trust the guy on the court for long stretches, mostly because the guy we’ve been calling “Burger” since the start of the season clearly can’t guard anybody.

In high school, King told us that his final two choices for college were basically Duke and Villanova. Wonder if he might explore the idea of spotting up for triples in Jay Wright‘s system.

Coach K has lost the magic “it.” Since when do players transfer from duke? It will be great to look forward to first and second-round exits for years to come.

Come on to Nova kid.Play for a real team.

  3. Kevin says:

You can have him, Doc. I’m sure Nova has a spot on their bench that needs warming too.

The guy is so hard headed that he must have rocks for brains. If the guy isn’t willing to do what it takes to get better, I’m glad he’s leaving. And any other player who isn’t willing to pay their dues can go too.

  4. Greg says:

Dave — Wtf are you talking about? Have you ever heard of Joey Beard, Chris Burgess or Bill McCaffrey (or even Christian Ast)? If Coach K has truly lost “it” as you say, then he lost it as long ago as the early 90′s, when McCaffrey transferred.

  5. Rose says:

It is amazing how adults chat about students having rocks for brains. If something is not a fit it is not a fit. I am pretty sure you have never met Taylor (Kevin) maybe the rocks aren’t in his head? Anyway I do hope that Taylor has made the choice that will be good for him and whomever he plays for. Regardless of peoples rude comments.
