The Wiz Love Caron

After Caron Butler took over (again) and basically won last night’s Cavs/Wizards game in Cleveland all by himself, his Wizards teammates waited for Butler in the locker room chanting “TOUGH JUICE !” over and over again, until their hero to get back to the locker room.

Somewhere, we can picture Gil talking himself into re-building the Clippers…

The controversy here in DC over Gilbert is crazy….people back and forth debating if they should just keep Caron and Antwan J.

Stupid Gil can’t really run point nor play team ball, just jack up shots and get the EA Cover curse

We all had love for him until he started to get scared about playing again and even delaying his rehab over and over and over…it was well documented that he was scared to return….

You don’t get MAX contracts and LEADERSHIP type money if you scared to play..

    just my opinion

First for like the first time EVER … feels lonely

Honestly though, its so obvious the Wizards are just a BETTER team with out Agent 0. Superstar Blogger, Not a superstar player.
Even before he got hurt, they never got out of the first round because his team was to busy standing around watching him jack up 3s “hibachi!”
Good fit for the clips where he can take his entertaining to the next level and he’s a hometown boy.

  4. the_don_mega says:

    gil’s a good player…
a tier 2 star at the very least…
not the superstar that he claims though…
    as a CAVS fan…
i’d rather see them get beat by a Wiz team led by Tough Juice instead…

  5. fallinup says:

Gil is pretty much out the door now, the Wiz would be dumb to keep him. And maybe, just maybe, they get something awesome in return in a sign and trade.

  6. Logan Light says:

Gil needs to leave. Maybe head to where ever D’Antoni winds up to run the show there… that might be incredible now that I think about it. There is absolutely no doubt that the Wizards are a better TEAM without him in the line up… but give him his due. Without Agent 0, the Wiz don’t even get on the map. They remain an MJ disaster site still battling to make the playoffs, not advance past the Cavs.

Caron is nice. It’s important though that he is surrounded with other good players. I think he’s a little like Ray Allen on the Bucks… different player for sure, but same ability to lead with the right team around him. But if you remember, the Bucks went from Conference Finals to out of the playoffs… and I can see the Wiz doing the same thing.

  7. Prof. TX says:

The wizards could probably get a decent PG or SG for less than Arenas’ salary. So it’s not like they’re just losing him, they’d be trading (whether through an actual trade or not) for someone else. Maybe they can do some shopping from the Bulls roster, make a good offer to Gordon to fill Arenas’ spot as shooter and then find a decent distributor to run the point.

  8. foscheezeeee says:

They need to do a sign and trade and we will give you Josh Howard and any other veteran for Gil. Some people don’t understand that they might play better together w/o Gil, but they will barely get out of the first round every year w/o him. I think it’s more reward than risk. He sells tickets, and when he’s on you saw that last season they can beat anyone (except the Spurs). He misses a lot of shots to and will cost you some games, but they aren’t that great of a team w/o him. And he has not been healthy, so when and if he does I believe he can get back close to where he was. He’s only 26!

  9. DaPro says:

Gil is nice. I think everybody forgets that because he was out most of the year but I don’t think their better without him if he plays 2nd option to Tough Juice.

  10. i Fux aka Etheraldinho aka Farouq Obama aka Cecil Cocksure says:

Gil is cool but he just needs to realize that he isnt exactly the main option. Caron gets his points quite easily and doesnt seem like such a ballhog because he isnt holding the rock 80% of the time like Gil. Yo on the Joe Johnson thing, damn let the nigga play it out wtf is wrong with Woodson? Its not like Joe wouldnt have played a little smarter. I dont understand that shit at all

  11. GEE...Get on the mic for the symphony! says:

Man if the Wiz are smart they do like Prof. Tx said and get a good guard or in my view go after a good center. Look at your LaMarcus, Bynum, Pau, Stat and Duncans of the world. Granted they prolly won’t have a chance at any of those but still go after a 5 that will put in work and give you some points for Gil.

Gil served his time well in Wash. Got the highlights and legendary acts. Time to take the show on the road pimpin!

  12. GEE...Get on the mic for the symphony! says:

Oh yea and somebody should get Tough Juice (still the most horrid name I have ever heard) a platinum chain with a platinum straw on it (dude likes to chew straws). He is the only reason Washington got a pulse right now. I expect Jamison to come on in though so it can go to 7.

  13. Sam I Am says:

WIZ in 7 would be BANANAS !!!!! wow don’t even play with us in DC … We are so used to losing with that DeadSKINS and Nationals lol

  14. Suciniac says:

Damn, this has got to hurt Gil’s ego more than his knees are hurting him right now.

  15. Dennis Castro says:

I always thought Calderon would be a PERFECT fit on this team.

A pass first PG that can break down the D and is completely team oriented.

I think Gil’s a great player, but it’s obvious the Wiz don’t need him to win. Caron’s a franchise player and Jamison is a more than capable #2 man.

The D’Antoni/Gil suggestion is very interesting. He would pretty much have the green light in that system, and if you get him a decent post player that draws attention, he’ll be able to fire away 3’s free willingly.

  16. Chuck says:

I love Caron don’t get me wrong but lets check the stats, 05-06=75 games, 06-07=63 games, 07-08=58 games. Caron isn’t really that durable, teams are all about chemistry,Caron, Gil and Jamison have that chemistry. Will they win a Chip? Probably not, not with brendon Haywood in the middle.
Knee injuries can be hard to rebound from, but Kidd did it successfully, and that was microfracture surgery. So I hope Washington stays together and just adds the peices that they need, which I agree with Gee, a 5.
They may be able to get a suprise out of the draft or trade for one.
But Haywood won’t cut it. Etan Thomas had so much more heart than cupcake Haywood!

  17. doc says:

If Gil would just accept deferring sometimes and not having to be the first option every play he would be cool.

  18. nbaroundtable says:

The Wizards have to keep Gilbert Arenas. He is by far their best player. They’re absolutely not a better team without Gil.

Everyone forgets this team was top of the (weakened) East before injuries hit them last season. They came nowhere close this year, barely playing above .500.

Everyone says their offense is better. That’s just plain wrong. They were the 5th most efficient offense in the league last season compared to 12th this season.

They say Gilbert is a ball hog, yet he scored 28.4ppg while Caron dropped 19ppg and Jamison dropped 20ppg. Without him those players averaged 20ppg and 21ppg respectively. That’s a huge jump right? C’mon! Gilbert left behind 28ppg and close to 20 shots a night. Where are they going?

What about the others? DeShawn Stevenson scored the exact same amount of points (after a late flurry, he was scoring less for most of the season) but shot almost 10% worse from the field. Songaila scored less. Daniels scored 1ppg and 1.2apg more in almost 10 extra minutes. Where’s the problem with him distributing the ball? There isn’t one.

He’s immature, his shot selection needs to improve and he isn’t a leader. He’s also 26 years old and precosiously talented. Give him time, he can still get the rest together. Even if he doesn’t, he’s the single best player and single best match winner the Wizards have or are likely to get in the forseeable future. Their future depends on his shoulders. They cannot let him walk.

  19. Kobeef says:

Washington has enough scorers with Jamison, Butler and Stevenson. As someone said above a true playmaking PG (like Calderon) would probably be the best option for this team.

A three-way trade seems like the best solution here.
    How about this:

    Washington trades:
    Agent 0 to Chicago
    Songalia to Toronto

    Chicago Trades:
    Hinrich to Toronto
    Gordon to Washington

    Toronto (signs and) Trades:
    Calderon to Washington
    Ford to Chicago

In exchange for Ford and Calderon T.dot gets Songalia and Hinrich

In exchange for Gordon and Hinrich Chicago gets Gil and Ford (and starts Gil and Larry in the Backcourt)

In exchange for Songalia and Gil, Washington gets Calderon and Gordon and starts Calderon at PG

  20. GEE...Get on the mic for the symphony! says:

I ain’t saying let dude walk but at least trade and get some picks, cash or players for him.

With all that you state about him, he would be a valuable trade item then. Plus being that Washington is like a couple of decent players away from making real playoff noise, why not get missing parts for him.

Keep 1 great player considering you have 2 really goods vs. getting 2 other good players and letting that 1 great player (injury and erratic) go?

    I trade.

  21. Chuck says:

    I don’t know ya’ll
    Trade away agent Zero.
My man averaged 28 points a game at one time.
Dude can flat out score, he hit LA for 60 just last year,
him, caron and Jamison play very well off each other. I just don’t see it?
I know he doesn’t provide much besides scoring but still 28 points a game. 1.8 steals a game and 6 assist.
He did average almost 4 turnovers a game though. Those numbers are from last year.
Now let’s take a look at iverson’s numbers. 27.7 points, 2.3 steals and 6.3 assist with almost 4 turnovers a game.
Now the question is would you trade iverson from the nuggets?
Neither of them are very strong defenders. I just don’t see the logic in trading Agent 0 unless his knee doesn’t hold up.
Since he can opt out of his contract, I would let him, I would not give him some huge contract for the next 5 years for 14 mil or more or anything like that because of all of the knee problems he has had this year.
I would give him like a 1 or 2 year contract and if he didn’t accept that i would let him leave, because honestly right now he is a risk, and not even a calculated risk, because we just don’t know how that knee will hold up.

  22. Bust Jlaze says:

I think the only reason the Wizards seem to be a better team now is because they’ve gotten so used to playing without him. Let’s not forget that they were right there with the Cavs, just a couple years ago. Then Arenas gets hurt, and the Wizards had to keep it moving without him. Now he’s back and it just doesn’t fit right now. They should roll without him until next year and everyone will be straight.

  23. Bust Jlaze says:

    Lemme edit that last joint:

I think the only reason the Wizards seem to be a better team now *without Gilbert* is because they’ve gotten so used to playing without him. Now he’s back and it just doesn’t fit right now. They should roll without him until next year and everyone will be straight.

  24. Celts Fan says:

let’s be real here. Gil flipped a coin over whether or not to stay in GS, so I bet even he doesn’t know what he’s gonna do yet. Ironically enough, with GS supposedly very strongly considering trading BAron Davis, a return to the Warriors would be the best possible fit for him to do his thing.
