Reader “bill” left a question in the comments section of today’s Smack asking for an update on the progress of Greg Oden.
This post from Oregonlive.com’s Blazers Blog has the latest on Oden’s recovery, including the fact that the Blazers asked Greg to back off his rabid weightlifting.
Check it out HERE.

Sam I Am says:
Man do you REALLLYYY!!!??? think this guy is gonna be good in the league next year…
I’m so suspect and they had a nice squad last year in Portland…
What do ya’ll think was missing from them grabbing a playoff spot?

Damon says:
I think not that much, with those young teams its often consistency I think. they were’t that good to start th season, then got on a roll and faded toward the end of the season. Injuries also played a roll(james jones, roy).
they got a nice pg combo, but i still think they need an upgrade here.
BTW, isn’t it great to play in portland, knowing you won’t lose players because of some money issues? i mean, paul allen has some money…

I am with you Sam I am really going to have to see, because granted he will be a defensive presence and all, otherwise I just don’t know.
Might end up being trade bait.

Soopa says:
I think he’ll do okay for a rookie big man. I keep thinking about last years NCAA final where he abused Noah and Horford, two guys who get tick in the L ‘cos of their D basicly.

wow, sweet!
Awesome, thanks for that.
I honestly hope that Oden becomes part of a new age David Robinson/Hakeem/Ewing/Shaq/Dikembe/Alonzo era
Oh so spoilt with Centres………
But now we have……………potential
:)
We have:
Tim Duncan
Greg Oden
Dwight Howard
Yao Ming (maybe more a Rik Smits…)
and Darko……………….

Dave says:
I think Greg Oden is going to be incredible next season. One of the league’s better defenders. One of the league’s better rebounds. And a good threat offensively, somewhere around or above what Shaq is now scoring wise.
Oden’s going to be terrific and fill many of those holes that plauged Portland this season. That’s going to be a special team next year.
Just think about Aldridge and Oden and how tough it’s going to be score around the rim. Then think about how well Portland control the tempo, how well they shoot the ball, how good Brandon Roy is, how good Aldridge is on the block. This is a very special team and very dangerous for next season.
I expect them to be in the playoffs and they’ll be capable of knocking anyone out. That’s how good I expect them to be.
